Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill
Taka___
Tondemo Skill by Isekai Hourou Meshi is the kind of isekai that understands its genre very well and decides to play with it instead of taking it too seriously. The premise begins by subverting expectations: we follow the classic “hero summoned to another world”, but who, because he has no useful combat skills, is quickly discarded. The difference here is that the anime doesn't turn this into a big existential drama - there are no speeches about abandonment, loneliness or cruel fate. On the contrary, everything is handled with lightness and good humor, which makes the experience extremely enjoyable. Mukouda is a simple, almost banal protagonist, which is precisely why he works so well. He doesn't want to save the world, defeat the demon king or become legendary; his goal is just to live comfortably, eat well and avoid trouble. This “anti-hero” attitude creates constant comic situations and allows the narrative to progress in an unpretentious way, focusing more on everyday life and the interactions between the characters than on major conflicts. One of the biggest highlights of the anime is its supporting cast, especially the creatures that accompany Mukouda. The monsters are a veritable patchwork of different folklores, references to other anime and even elements of pop culture, but all of this is harmonized by excellent visual design and a lot of personality. Each creature has presence, charisma and a clear function within the story, which prevents them from becoming mere “mascots”. Comedy is another strong point. It comes naturally, whether in the dialogues, the exaggerated reactions of the characters or the absurd seriousness with which food is treated. The anime manages to turn something as simple as cooking into almost epic scenes, while maintaining a relaxed tone. It's humor that doesn't just rely on quick jokes, but also on situations and cultural contrasts between the modern world and the fantasy world. On the technical side, MAPPA's animation delivers exactly what you'd expect from the studio. The sets are rich in detail, well colored and used efficiently to reinforce the setting of the fantastic world. The action scenes, although not the main focus, are fluid and well choreographed, while the cooking sequences are given special care, with a level of detail that makes the viewer hungry. In the end, the anime stands out for being an isekai that knows exactly what it wants to be: a light, fun and comfortable adventure. It doesn't try to reinvent the genre, but uses its clichés intelligently, turning them into strengths. It's the ideal type of anime for those looking for something unpretentious, well-produced and full of charm.

Campfire Cooking is a nice, cozy isekai story. You can simply turn off your brain, sit back and relax. Like so many other isekai series, the main character (Mukouda) is very powerful. In this case it is more by proxy considering he himself is weak, but the Fenrir who joins him is extremely strong. Either way, Campfire Cooking is not about how powerful he and his familiars are, it is about the main character’s adventures in this new world. How does he adapt to this new world? What struggles does he face along the way? How does he deal with having a special skill that seems quite weak at first? How Mukouda responds to situations as they unfold and how he interacts with the people around him are a large part of the fun in this series. His powerful allies bring in a lot of dead boss-level monsters, yes, but these happenings serve only to provide more cooking scenes and are the basis for a lot of comical interactions between Mukouda, his familiars and other people in the world. Of course, a lot of the things that happen are awfully convenient and beneficial to our main character, but having Fenrir be the catalyst for most of those events is a decent enough excuse that I didn’t dwell too deeply on such matters. What I found interesting was seeing how useful and convenient modern cooking ingredients and products can be. It’s not something I usually think about. Even though Mukouda appears to be an experienced home cook, half of his skill seems to come from using the right pre-made sauces. Overall, the story was fine and very much slice-of-life-y. The characters are well-defined and neither complete cardboard cut-outs nor particularly deep. They’re distinct enough to play off of each other very nicely. Again, the focus of this show is on coziness and humor. And this is achieved with only a handful of characters. Background music and sound effects were fine and unremarkable, while the voice acting was pretty good. The animation was alright for the most part, but there are a few cooking shots where the animation shoots up a tier or two for a few seconds. I was honestly not expecting much but it was surprisingly entertaining and I hope we get to see more of Campfire Cooking.

This is NOT your typical isekai trash. The MC is not OP, he doesn't get a harem, he doesn't get sent on a year-long quest to find God or kill the Demon Lord. However, there are typical isekai cliché elements for sure. The MC isn't OP, but his 2 familiars most certainly are and they are the plot devices that allow the story to progress - not that there truly is much of a story here in all honesty. The 2 familiars also provide a majority of the comedy in this series as well. The plot is simple: MC gets summoned to a fantasy world, but as a mistake. He's not part of the hero party and his skill of "online grocery shopping" is not considered useful by the kingdom who summons him. I guess it's a bit of a joke by the writer(s), but the hero party do also appear to be teenagers (like most typical isekai plots), whereas our MC here is late 20s. The hero party also immediately take up the mantle of "going to defeat the demon lord", which again, is a bit of fun-poking. Now, I did put this review as spoiler-free, but there truly isn't a whole lot to spoil - as I said earlier, there really isn't a whole lot of story or plot here. Everything I said above is part of the public blurb and the first 5 minutes of the very first episode. It does appear as though there is set-up for political intrigue and a deeper plot within the first few episodes, but it never really gets brought-up again and due to how poor the LN and Anime performed financial-wise, I doubt we'll ever see a Season 2 to go into those points either. The rest of the story is just our MC going travelling with his familiars, while making vast quantities of food for them and trying to make a living in his new world. A lot of this anime is taken up with... what can only be described as a cookery show: "I cut the onions and add sake and soy sauce to this, while the rice is boiling away [...]", will be something that you'll be hearing in your sleep after watching this series. All-in-all, it's a light-hearted anime, but a bit bare-bones and quite repetitive with the cooking elements. It isn't a stand-out or "must watch" series in my opinion, but is enjoyable to watch if you're bored and have exhausted the current anime season's offerings. The relationship between the MC and his familiars also holds up a large portion of this anime. I'll rate it a 6/10 "fine". I'll also label this as "mixed feelings", because some will certainly find this boring.

Basic fun but ultimately it goes nowhere. The show is too focused on being overly gratuitous with the cooking and eating that it wastes its potential at every turn. What little we see of the world is interesting and well done, but time and time again any of that is cut short so that more food can be cooked and ate. Episode after episode it repeats the same notes and boils down the same cooking show. I wanted more of everything outside of the food. The food works great as a plot device, but is instead treated as the unwavering center-point. It could be such a great jumping off point to explore the world and characters or build bonds through food, like a travel/exploration show, it could use the food cooking in so many interesting ways, but it refuses to elevate itself past anything more than low-brow food porn. They have all the pieces here but limited themselves and never grew past the same simple beats which are established in the first few episodes. I was gorged for food but left hungry for more advancement of the story, world, and characters. I am very mixed on this because I started out really enjoying the show but I feel it spun its wheels a lot and I was disappointed in it not doing a lot more. It seems like it has all the potential and capability to do more, but the show continually chooses not to. I get that deconstructing an isekai like this means changing things, but I feel they went too far or made choices for the wrong reasons at times and unnecessarily held the show back. They pushed the slice of life angle way too hard even when it actively took away from the show. At times it genuinely felt like they were genuinely teasing the audience about how little they could have the characters do other than eat food. I think they needed to find other ways for the MC to use food other than to satisfy his and his party's gluttonous hunger. Those moments happened and teased the potential of so many interesting ideas, but they were infrequent, sold short, and rarely expanded upon. Those were like many other parts of the show where you saw interesting flashes and peeks of where the story could go - but instead the MC and his party go back to just doing what they did the day before and will do again the next day. It seems like the story and everything else moves less than half as fast as it should because of the repetitive gratuitousness of the food porn holding things back to a painful degree which takes away from the general enjoyability of the show. I like the show and I didn't like it, I liked the MC in some ways and thought he was flat and stupid in others. It will really depend how much you can turn your brain off or accept the flatness of certain situations as to whether you will be able to enjoy the simple fun and exploration there is, or if the shortcomings and repetitiveness will drive you wild.

Campfire Cooking in Another World With My Absurd Skill is one of those anime which I randomly came across. Then, I proceeded to give it a try, as per my instincts. It starts off with a suspenseful and scary scene, where no context is given whatsoever. There is a group of random people, one of them being our protagonist, who are confronted by a large wolf-like creature. It is said to be the legendary Fenrir, the mythical creature who is considered god-like and whose strength is unparalleled. The same Fenrir, is attracted to the MC, because he cooks delicious food. He forms a bond called 'Familiar' between the two of them. Up until now, if this casual approach to the Fenrir and also the long title of the anime didn't make the plot clear, I don't know what would. Except, there is barely any moment in this anime where the protagonist ACTUALLY used a campfire to cook food. Later, the scene shifts to the actual beginning where the main character is summoned into another world by some royalty, and gains the 'super' power to obtain GROCERY ITEMS from his previous world (the real world). And when he was summoned into another world with 3 others who were just a bunch of background characters, he was not surprised in the least bit! It was as if he just woke up in the morning. AND, the entirety of what I told lasted only for like 5 minutes. So the beginning was lacking a bit in terms of plot/ storyline. Story-wise, this anime isn't all that great, as it is mainly based on cooking and food. It is set in the typical isekai-fantasy world, which kind of resembles the Middle Ages. There is neither any plot progression, nor any great character development. The main character relies on Fel (Name of the Fenrir) for his protection. But again, those are factors that you take into consideration when judging a battle-shonen. Though even as a cooking anime, the main character doesn't really have any goals related to that. He just wants to feed Fel. Now what you would expect from this anime is a vast array of dishes cooked by the protagonist. But the only type of dish cooked by him is MEAT. There should be atleast a tad bit of variety in the base ingredients. Also the pacing is a bit crooked at times. Just because this is a food anime, doesn't mean that the other core elements of an anime should be openly ignored, as they are in this anime. Even the cooking part is not properly focused on. The explanations or the recipes of the food are too short and only a vague idea of what is happening is showcased. So in terms of story, I would rate it a 5/10. The scenes, the backgrounds, the landscapes, everything is vivid. Contrasted colors along with the right application of shadows and stuff makes almost every scene a feast for the eyes. Everything seems rich and flamboyant. The picturesque beauty of each and every frame really portrays the charm of the world which is so full of life. Everything makes the watcher experience an unknown happiness. The cloudy skies, distant mountains or the green forests add to the beauty of the food which Mukouda-san cooks. The Art in this anime is truly stunning! About the animation, it's nothing that special. Its just decent. Although the quality considerably improves when there is a cooking scene, it is not highlighted to the extent that it should've been. In my opinion, the cooking scenes should've contained more Sakuga, as it is the main attraction of this anime. It lacks a bit in that field. The different meats look pretty realistic, but apart from that, its just basic animation overall. The different sauces should've been more exquisite with fluid animation during the cooking scenes. That being said, the animation gets a 6.5/10 and the art deserves a solid 9/10. There is not much influence of sound in this, the ending theme was okayish and the only sound effects worth mentioning are the sizzling sounds which are produced when the meat is being cooked or fried. Since there is no variety or distinctive pattern in any of them, I would have to rate it a 4/10. Even though there isn't a wide collection of characters in this series, the main cast i.e. Mukouda, Fel and Sui are quite interesting. Our MC Mukouda is a bit of a scaredy cat, but is always keen to try out new stuff: both food and adventure. He likes to experiment with different types of meats, regardless of the types of creatures. He learnt a few magic attacks to defend himself, and is also smart as a merchant. Despite being monstrous and scary, Fel is a kind hearted character. He is a big foodie who loves Mukouda's food and is very enthusiastic. He also shows dep affection for Sui. Sui is CUTE AS HELL and STRONG TOO! He is loved both by the MC and Fel! These three form a great trio and I would be interested to see their bond develop. So, I would rate the Characters 7.5/10. At some moments this anime felt a bit boring and slow-paced, but at times I kinda enjoyed it too. The latter half of this series was especially more enjoyable. A bit of variety in everything would've helped though. That being said, in Enjoyment I rate it 6.5/10. Overall, Campfire Cooking in Another World With My Absurd Skill is a not-so-bad anime. It contains the usual traits of your typical Isekai anime in some way or the other. But at the same time, this one is a unique one even among the other isekai anime. At times you'll find it boring, at times it'll be interesting. This is a lighthearted anime meant to be taken casually. It doesn't follow a distinct storyline, nor does it have its special moments. I would recommend watching this only if you don't have anything else to watch. It would help in the relaxation of your mind if you've watched something with a heavy plot. Overall, this is a 6/10.

made me hungry. I love food. cute and funny characters. good character growth. sui is baby. im ready for a second season. easy and casual to watch. good art style. main character man can be a bit dumb sometimes. good character introduction. would like to see a bit more interactions with the goddesses. would also like to see a snapshot of his life before being transported into new world. if you enjoy anime with super op characters, you'll enjoy this one. story is predictable in the sense that someone is summoned as a hero and is "useless" then becomes op. would watch again.

MAPPA x Food ASMR x Isekai? Call it a success story. Story & Character 7.5/10 There's pretty much no plot. The guy just goes around the world looking to find new stuff in this world. BUT, the characters and their interaction are so good. Especially, the MC and the Fenrir have pretty much perfect chemistry. Animation 8.5/10 Anything scene involving food is like an instant 10/10. MAPPA cooked all the food irl and then rotoscoped it perfectly into the anime aesthetic. And talking about aesthetics, FINALLY, isekai with its own art style. It's so warm and cozy. Just perfect. Sound 7/10 Pretty basic relaxing track for each scene which enhances the experience. The OPENING though was an absolute jam. Overall 8/10 I love the fact that this show is being created by a bunch of newbies/interns at MAPPA, but since the direction has such a strong foundation, it's just so satisfying when a show was made efficiently and beautifully.

Camping mukbang YouTube videos - the anime. 6/10 TL:DR; The junk-food version of Dungeon Meshi. None of the world-building, clever ecological designs, character development, or any of the really good bits. Just cooking in a field with cool pets. This series is graded on vibe, not plot (because there isn't any). The Review: From the start, you can tell this will be a slightly different isekai. It's not nested in power fantasy. No revenge plots. No harem (kinda). No need to show up the Hero's party. It's exactly what it says it is - cooking in another world. If there were a plot, it would basically be "a shy guy tries to be brave while making simple dishes for his pets". And ya know what? That's totally fine. It doesn't take itself seriously and enjoys the ride - so you should too. The OPs and Ends are total moods and make me nostalgic for something that never existed. So much so that I almost never skip them. Especially the ending credits. The cutouts and songs are so wholesome that they make you feel all warm and fuzzy after gorging on highly processed sauces and thinly veiled product placements. This is junk food, let's not kid ourselves. But who doesn't love a nice bag of [insert favorite flavor] [chip brand] from time to time?

Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill (Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi). Overall it was kind of your average isekai with the ability to bring stuff in from another world, kind of like Sasaki and Peeps but in a reverse fashion, but not entirely? IDK. But yeah it was pretty good, the detailed background and food looked really good for a isekai. Also it might be a good show to wait on as you could possibly binge it in the future as I've recently seen that s2 might come out in a bit. There is this one character that I would say kinda soiled the anime (not saying who it is as it would spoil it) but yeah that's just my opinion.

This anime is an isekai that like many other recent isekai features a protagonist that at first glance seems to be useless. In this case the protagonist, Mukoda, has the unique skill ‘Online Grocery’ that lets him summon the type of stuff that you would find in a normal Japanese grocery store. And as with most cases of this trope in anime, the ability turns out to be the most useful ability of the group. While the ability to summon groceries doesn’t directly have any combat applications, it allows him to create fantastic foods far beyond what anyone in the medieval fantasy world he ended up in is accustomed to. As a result of this, Mukoda is able to form a contract with a legendary and extremely overpowered giant Fenrir wolf that he names Fel. Food from the grocery give stat boosts and experience so as a result Mukoda is also able to grow another familiar, the slime Sui, from a weak baby slime into an incredibly powerful one. The food also seems to draw the attention of goddesses who bestow upon Mukoda blessings that protect him and make him more powerful in exchange for him making regular sacrifices of said food to them. After it seemed there was no point in him joining the party going after the demon king, he was left to his own devices to make something of himself. But as he’s quickly able to become powerful enough that nothing is a threat to him, he simply wanders the world with his familiars, taking in the sights and enjoying the freedom he now has. The way this anime handles the cooking aspect is somewhat strange, in that despite it occurring in a fantasy world it’s pretty much exactly like basic cooking from our world. Mukoda uses ingredients obtained in his new world, such as orc or wyvern meat. But other than the fact that there’s a lot more of it, their meat is essentially the same as meats from our world such as chicken or beef. For the purposes of cooking its treated exactly the same. Furthermore, the cooking isn’t from scratch or using basic ingredients. Rather, he heavily relies in premade sauces and mixes. There also isn’t really any depth or complications to things. He just follows the recipes without really putting any thought into it and everything comes out great. As such, the cooking isn’t really any more special than the typical cooking people do at home. The anime is able to portray said cooking really well and make both the cooking process and produced food look amazing, but it just isn’t that interesting. Especially considering how often it comes up and how repetitive it feels. Beyond the cooking, there isn’t really anymore to the plot than just Mukoda and his familiars having fun on their journey. I suppose there are some minor overarching plot threads, but they’re pretty meaningless. Fel really wants Mukoda to get stronger and thus pushes him into combat situations. However, Fel is able to effortlessly deal with anything that they encounter so as of yet there didn’t really seem to be a point to this. Mukoda joins the adventurer guild and has to do quests. But Fel is easily able to resolve them beyond what was expected without any tension or suspense whatsoever. Mukoda also joins the merchant guild and does do some business selling things he obtains through the online grocer. However, he makes so much money just selling the monsters that Fel casually defeats that the extra income from the merchant activities is pointless. As such, this anime is one of those cozy anime that focused on just relaxing. And in terms of that I felt it was just okay. The main party is pretty unique, what with it being one straight laced and cowardly human, one arrogant and battle hungry giant wolf, and one babyish but also bloodthirsty slime. However, I just didn’t find them all that likable, nor did I find their dynamic all that enjoyable to watch. There are also no other reoccurring characters. Thus, the characters didn’t really do much for me. There’s also essentially no world building beyond some vague references. The various towns the party passes through are also all pretty similar to the point it’s not really exciting at all when they reach new ones. Thus, the setting also doesn’t have much value. What holds up the anime is ultimately the comedy. There’s a good amount of it and pretty much all of it as at least somewhat amusing. The types of humor are also pretty fresh as far as isekai are concerned, so it all lands pretty well. For example, there’s a lot of humor centered around how Mukoda doesn’t like how his familiars are overpowered. This anime doesn’t handle the overpowered moments like most do in that it doesn’t revel in them at all. Rather, Mukoda is often shown as a coward that doesn’t want to have anything to do with what Fel are Sui are up to when they’re occurring, and then feels annoyed in the aftermath because he doesn’t want to catch the eyes of others who may try to push obligations on him that may limit his freedom. Furthermore, while I can’t say I grew all that attached to the main party, I will have to admit that the humor that came out of their interactions was pretty funny in imaginative ways. Thus, while the anime didn’t really leave much of any impression on me, I would still have to say that I enjoyed it. The art and animation were pretty good. Definitely for the cooking but also for the action. I found the designs in the anime pretty weak though with there not really being any character, monster, or location that was all that memorable. The OP was solid enough in terms of the songs and visuals. The ED is really catchy though. The soundtrack was decent enough but didn’t really stand out. tl;dr: An anime with pretty boring cooking, an uninteresting cast, and no real plot, but pretty great comedy.

While this show is executed in an excellent manner, with nice animation, characters, and audio design, it is impossible for someone to directly recommend such a show without first understanding exactly what it is trying to do. Given a pessimistic view, the show is nothing but excuses to rotoscope out animated cooking sequences and gawk at Japanese cuisine. Taking a more optimistic attitude, it is a refreshing take on the Isekai model with a unique focus towards expanding on the particularly under appreciated sense of taste and its impact on those who would be cast away from one world into another. While neither characterization is fully honest and truly encapsulates what the show is trying to do, this is probably because the story is not really trying to do anything in particular, aside from placing subtle brand advertisements for various sauces and seasonings. While I cannot comment to the efficacy of these advertisements as someone who neither reads Japanese nor lives in a region where these products may be readily available, I can say that the focus of the show is usually drawn away from these, so the negative is at best a minor point. The show definitely has a high budget as MAPPA is notorious for excellent technical production techniques. This show may feel vacuous or lack some material reason to watch, but the beautiful animation is consistent throughout the cour and really doesn't slow down. This is hands down one of the most consistent seasons of anime I have laid witness to, from the characters remaining on model, to the complex rotoscoped sequences of the MC cooking. It ends up feeling like a wonderful short journey that you can walk away from satisfied in the end. I do not readily recommend this show, as I find it likely that many people may find it somewhat mundane. However for what it is, the show manages to entertain. It may not be for some, so take that as you will.

a GREAT anime to watch if you want the following: laidback/low conflict plot, yummies, ADORABLE familiars, journey/adventure plots, little-to-no fanservice, a non-overpowered MC, or simply just a break! this anime was soooo relaxing to watch and i couldn't recommend it enough ദ്ദി(ᵔᗜᵔ) the main issue i see people have with this anime is its 'lack of plot'/character development, but i think the laidback, low tension feel of this show is what made it so enjoyable for me! i watched this as a break from watching a longer anime and it served me very well! further, i'd like to commend the kindness of all the encounted characters to the MC. all the characters are likeable and nothing about this show rubbed me the wrong way i.e. pervy characters, half-naked girls, corrupt officials being a main plot point (very rare for isekais). it made all the stops at various cities way more peaceful to watch :) i saw someone else say something along these lines... "the two things that separate this anime from other isekais are: 1. the MC not being a prominent part of the world's 'main' story but rather making his own entertaining side story 2. no girls existing for the sole purpose of fanservice following the MC" honestly, i agree! these two things have come to annoy me quite a bit in other animes due to it making many isekais feel like regurgitations of one another, but these differences made 'Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi' all the more refreshing! it just proves that you don't need a crazy op MC for an anime to be good. (⑅˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈ ) the first episode is very shield hero-esque in the way that the MC is mocked for his abilities but this time he's smart enough to take the hush money, flee the corrupt(ing) kingdom, discover the perks of his abilities and say "ok so i want NOTHING to do with those officials anymore...i just wanna travel and eat my food damn..." AND THANK GOD BECAUSE WE GET FEL AND SUI (ᗒᗨᗕ) tbh everytime fel was on screen i wanted to pet him so bad (༎‿༎) he's so fluffy and pretty and cute i wanna feed him all the food he wants and braid his hair and lie on his back ಠ_ಠ sidenote: ik this peacefulness will probably change in the following seasons as he is a hero after all, but for now, i am content with this harmonious arc ٩(^ᗜ^ )و lol lowkey my bad i told myself i should review this as the gourmet anime it is but i got too excited with the other stuff. anyway, i don't actually watch gourmet animes because i never thought they'd be that good, but this has me by my NECK its so good. the food looks so good it legit made me cook my own teriyaki spam bowl like... HOWEVER DO NOT WATCH THIS WHILE U EAT MAN I FELT LIKE I WAS EATING THE ORCS...NOT GOOD.....the food looked delicious but i could unfortunately not get over the psychological hurdle of it being monster meat............ anyway here are my ratings heheheheh animation: 8/10 plot: 6/10 (in a good way tho lowkey) characters: 9.5/10 enjoyability: 10/10 overall: 9/10! <3

I don't have much to say about this one except that it's been a pleasant surprise. Initially, I had low expectations, but it manages to keep the story decent and engaging, focusing on a small cast and expanding to include supporting characters and comrades as needed. However, so far, few of the previously encountered characters have made a return. Its strong points lie in its humor and visual aesthetics. Each episode delivers a fair share of laughs, introducing amusing characters like the goddesses and establishing an interesting and humorous dynamic with the main character. And being a MAPPA-produced anime, the animation never fails to impress. It pains me to admit this, but the isekai genre is often dominated by harem tropes, which I personally have a soft spot for. The plot is certainly not so intriguing on it's own, but beyond that, as a non-harem/romance isekai anime, this one stands out with a better-rounded story and overall quality. I initially expected it to receive poor ratings, but its decent rating is well-deserved.

Greetings friends I am someone who rarely watches comedy type of animes, or animes that try to win their audience by trying to make jokes or by looking funny in some way, also i barely write any anime reviews. However i was extremely well suprised by how much i enjoyed this anime and it made me appreciate more such animes that try to be more chill. This anime is absolutely chill and adorable, if you are someone thats looking to just relax after long and tiring day with something that doesnt demand your full attention of details of storyline and overall following the plotline, this anime is for you, it will help you relax and fall asleep, it might sound like im joking but i am not, i honestly watched one episode every night before going to bed and as i was always very tired i was watching it without paying that much attention and i ended up wanting to see more and more, its just an anime that doesnt take itself very seriously, its funny adventure that you dont even need to follow that much but just enjoy the ride. The art is literally 10/10, the fenrir is so cool and fluffy, same goes for the slime, overall both are so fucking cute. Story 6/10, its literally nothing special, for me its the main character going to random places for literally to just keep eating different type of foods and to satisfy his pets, i would be glad if the story evolves and goes a little bit harder and little dramatic as it has potential for something greater but i have my doubts about that, its probably going to continue its own pointless adventure but also being extremely chill and relaxing music 5/10, music also nothing special For me what made this anime great mostly is the vibe and the atmosphere it brings with itself. I recommend this anime, i rated it at first 7 but then as i finished the last episode i wanted to be more generous with my rating because i actually did enjoy it and relaxed while watching it, and sometimes all we need is to relax after long day, its truly an anime that doesnt take itself seriously, yet it has potential to get serious and also it even made me laugh several times which is hard. Looking forward for season 2 and the way this story will progress, maybe the story will get way better who knows.

It is a fun and loving anime. The characters like Fel,Sui and Mukohda were very funny and loving characters. The show had never bored me while watching it. The plot and the cooking were very amazing. It is a great anime and I highly recommend it to the ones who are searching for an anime which can be enjoyable and less episode. If we talk about the story then it was unexpected. The cookings done by the main character were looking very tasty and made me hungry to eat the food. The end of the season made the anime's second season more interesting and to put it on my "Plan to watch" list

It's not a masterpiece with astounding animation or a deeply intriguing story, nor does it have a unique premise. But this is the show that Dungeon Meshi is trying to be. The food is varied and actually looks appetizing. The setting and characters are a bit predictable, but still very satisfying to watch. People behave like actual people most of the time instead of acting strangely to suit the plot. Frankly, if you just want a show with some easy laughs and delicious looking anime food, look no further. Very nice to just turn your brain off after a long day and relax with this show.

I personally really enjoy this anime. Among the slog of samey and boring isekai, it really breaks the mold, in the sense that the sole purpose of the anime is the chill and carefree vibe it has, aka. there is no plot or tension. After reading the reviews here, many people dislike this aspect. For me however, it perfectly matches my expectations and wants for the show. Another positive aspect is that the characters are actually smart, and act like real people. The MC is very reasonable, even if a bit too cowardly. The characters make or break the show, and fortunately here, they easily make the show better. Overall, a more objective rating for the anime would be 7.5 / 10. Considering my personal enjoyment as well, the final score is 9 / 10. If you seek drama and heavily plot driven anime, then this is not for you.

Preface/Intro: ---- NO IFS, ANDS, ORS, OR BUTS, THIS ANIME WAS JUST GOOD! Art/Animation: ---- Nothing CRAZY goes on with the animation, but some of the food in this show makes me have an 'eyegasm'. Pretty much, the shit they cook had my mouth watering at 3 in the morning and just after eating. There is no exception, the food just looks YUMMY! 7.5/10 Story/Plot: ---- THE MC, some guy whose name I also cannot remember is an 'isekaied' salaryman who was pretty much given a shit skill, but little does everyone else know, his skill is GODLY. From making contracts with the floofiest boy, to giving melon bread to ancient deities in exchange for blessings, this show is wholesome overpowered done right, or whatever the fuck that means. 7/10 Characters: ---- All this man wants to do is cook, and cook for his tsundere dog child: respectable. Later on a Deredere/Kuudere (if that's even a real combination) slime gets added into the mix whose voice acting will purify your fucking SOUL! Overall, muy bueno. 8/10 Personal Enjoyment: ---- YES YES YES YES YES! This anime is it! Give me more wholesome content JUST LIKE IT! I require more! 9/10 Overall: ---- This anime wasn't about the fights, or the grudges, it just had some yummy food and some good boys. 8/10

“Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill” is what happens when someone wants to play a survival game but with cheats enabled. Four people are summoned to a fantasy-like world to become heroes that will save the world from evil. Yeah… shocking I know. Among them there is one, who’s not like the others. Someone with terrible stats and a cryptic unique skill called “Online Shopping”. Unfortunately for him, no one traits him seriously so he gets some money and decides to travel the world. During his journey he is forced to… “befriend”, yes, let's go with that word, a legendary magical beast (OP AF) and a small slime (also OP AF). It’s a fantasy comedy with a lot of slice of life vibe to it that relies mostly on its cast to carry the show. Tsuyoshi Mukouda - Our isekai'd hero. A 27 year old, bland, boring, deprived of anything that could pretend to be charisma, white collar worker. In the personality department there is nothing that You could call interesting. He’s a passive hero with no clear goal in mind and just goes with the flow. His unique skill “Online Shopping” allows him to buy items from his world and get them teleported via Amazon Prime to him. Yes, one of the most OP skills in all of isekai was belittled by everyone in the beginning and no one even wanted to check what it does. First red flag of the show - the ruling caste is full of morons. Most of the time he uses this skill to acquire ingredients for cooking. A bit devoid of imagination but I guess this is a cooking show at its core so I’ll let it slide. He is a proficient cook but relies too much on condiments from his own world to let me call him a chef. He’s just a dude who knows the basics and can use that knowledge in a different world. Not exactly a bad idea. He’s also one of the few isekai heroes who actually has the right idea about what to do when the place You got summoned treats You like shit - scram. Despite everything Mukouda isn’t an idiot and thinks most of his decisions through. That is unless Fel forces his will on him… Fel - The legendary Fenrir a feared, powerful beast that is aware of his might. The only thing greater than its strength is probably his appetite. He forced Mukouda to form a pact with him. Why would a legendary, well-nigh unstoppable beast for a pact with a weak, cowardly human? For Food. I’m not kidding, that’s his motivation. He want’s to eat good food all the time. I love that twist. No chosen one bs, no saving the world crap, just pure, unmitigated gluttony. The resident tsundere of the show. He’s pushy, arrogant, kind of an asshole in some cases and can’t verbalize his feelings towards his companions. He cares for Mukouda and Sui but that doesn’t stop him from forcing his will on them, especially when it comes to “training” the former in the art of magic. Best character in the show by far! Sui - A slime that Mukouda and Fel encountered by chance. Mukouda makes a pact with him without even knowing it, but soon treats the little fellow like a mascot. Sui has a very childish personality, loves food and fighting. If I had to put a role to him it would probably be “Baby Yoda of the show” but more useful and with a lot more character. He loves both Mukouda and Fel and isn’t shy about the fact. Second best character of the show. The main plot is very reactive. Apart from getting away from the kingdom that summoned him Mukouda doesn’t have a goal and mainly just chills in the wilds and cooks for his coterie. Very slice of life like. The action and conflict comes mainly from Fel. Either it’s his desire to hunt strong, unique beasts so that Mukouda can cook them or his “mentoring” (I use this term extremely loosely) his master to gain combat experience to master magic, he’s responsible for most of the action scenes and creates problems when Mukouda interacts with people in the cities. The problem with this is that it destroys the pacing. He gets some combat that actually has a goal (training) followed by a long period of calm comedy. Another problem with pacing is that at some point the show slows to a crawl and repeats its formula of hunt-eat-sell-repeat without any kind of twist. Fortunately that doesn’t last long but enough to notice. All in all it’s not a bad show. My mistake was getting hyped after the first 2 episodes. It has an amazing premise, cool characters, bland but acceptable world and the plot is actually funny at times. Watching Mukouda interact with Fel is fun and entertaining and the addition of Sui only helps with that. As long as You don’t mind the problems with pacing You can actually have a lot of fun watching it.

This was one of my favorite anime of its cour. It was light and funny with endearing characters. The comedy revolves primary around what if you had a mythical wolf as your pet, and boy does the humor deliver. The only real downside (but also kind of upside) is that it ended leaving me wanting to know what happens next, but alas it's not returning next week to continue the story. I really hope we get a second season because I will watch it with bells on. That said, if you're not looking for something a bit light and easy going at times, then this might not be the anime for you. However, if you have ever owned a pet and/or enjoy cooking, this will probably be right up your alley
