ENG: "3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei" is a parody spin-off of Gintama, which places its characters in a school setting with the sole intention of creating self-referential humor and absurd sketches. It's heavily focused on immediate gags and the constant breaking of the fourth wall. The series' main problem is precisely this approach. The humor is extremely uneven, heavily reliant on internal Gintama references, meta jokes, and caricatured exaggerations of the characters. This makes it feel less like a work with its own identity and more like supplementary content for Gintama fans, designed exclusively for those deeply immersed in the franchise. Outside of that context, many of the gags fall flat or simply don't work if you haven't seen several episodes of the original series. Narratively, there's not much to analyze. It has an episodic structure where different characters from the series don't face real conflicts and function solely as vehicles for jokes, reinforcing the feeling that the series exists more out of inertia than genuine creative necessity. Overall, 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei is a light and dispensable work that might be amusing at specific moments if you're a Gintama fan, but it lacks ambition, sustained wit, or a distinct identity that would make it stand out from other series, even within the Gintama franchise itself. It's not offensive or particularly bad, and I personally enjoyed it because I'd seen the series beforehand, but I can't imagine someone unfamiliar with Gintama enjoying this, and it doesn't really contribute anything relevant to the medium or the franchise. I only recommend it if you're a die-hard Gintama fan.

The boys (and girls) are back in town. After years of, more or less, silence, the Gintama franchise is back from the dead...kinda. 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei is a side story inspired by a Light Novel of the same name, taking place in what is pretty much an alternative universe, but not really, and the premise itself was actually already used a few times during the original run of the Gintama anime itself so good luck making sense of that mess of a continuity. So how does the long awaited return fare after all these years and with a new wrtiting staff? In short: Pretty good. In long: The show relies HEAVILY, and I do mean HEAVILY, on one´s pre-existing knowledge of the Gintama series and it´s characters. 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei jumps straight into the action with characters, known and loved by the fans, being themselves. A delight for the fans, but everyone else is kinda left hanging, trying to piece together any semblence of "what the frick is going on" minute 1. Te anime is clearly and unappologetically made for the fans of the Gintama franchise and newcomers will find it hard, getting into some of the humor, while lacking the context behind every charcter, their actions and why others react to them as they do. If you never watched or read Gintama, this show will most likely not impress you. It relies heavily on context and inside jokes you are expected to know by now, and if you dont, the humor is heavilly hit or miss. Not to say the show is not funny on its own, but the majority of enjoyment comes from things, new viewers will not be able to pick up on. BUT, if you are a Gintama fan, boy is this a treat that scratches that loooong unscratched itch. For the most part, the characters, the writing and the jokes land well. There are some clear growing pains for the series to overcome under the new "managment", to reach its predecessors greatness, but if all you need is just more Gintama in your life, 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei is that and then some.

An Unexpected Return for Gintama After years without a new animated adaptation for the franchise, it was a very pleasant surprise to see Gintama return, albeit in a completely different form. Instead of continuing the main storyline, the anime adapts 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei, the famous spin-off that places the characters in a high school setting. I admit that when this adaptation was announced, I was quite curious to see how the series' humor would work outside the wacky context of the alien-filled Edo period. To my delight, Gintama's key element remains intact: the humor. Even in a totally different setting, the characters retain their chaotic personalities, and the comedy still works beautifully. The jokes are fast-paced and packed with references, absurdity, and that shameless brand of humor only Gintama can deliver. There were many moments where I laughed out loud and felt that same sense of familiarity that won the series so many fans over the years. Another aspect that really surprised me was the production quality. Honestly, this spin-off received far better treatment than I expected. The animation is excellent—extremely consistent—and at times looks almost "too good" for a project that could easily have been nothing more than a bonus for fans. The exaggerated expressions, the comedic timing, and the overall direction greatly enhance the delivery of the jokes, making the whole experience even more entertaining. That said, there is one factor that slightly dampened my experience. As funny as this school setting is, I haven't quite managed to fully warm up to the concept. I think this is because my image of Gintama will always be tied to its original world: a totally chaotic Edo blending samurai, aliens, futuristic technology, and all the absurdity that defined the series' identity. Seeing these same characters in a school is fun, but it also leaves me with the feeling that something is missing. The spin-off works exactly as intended: a lighthearted side story designed to play around with characters we already know and love. The problem is that, after so many years following the cast in their original universe, it’s hard not to miss the completely insane setting that made Gintama so unique. It might just be a matter of adjustment, but for a good portion of the episodes, I felt a sense of disconnect. All in all, I enjoyed the experience. It was great to see these characters again and realize that the franchise's humor remains just as effective as ever. I wouldn't consider this an essential Gintama title, but it is certainly a fun supplement for anyone who misses the series. If you’re just looking for a good laugh and want to reconnect with the cast, it’s definitely worth watching. However, if you’re expecting the exact same Gintama as the main story, you might want to adjust your expectations a bit, because the approach here is quite different. Nota: 6/10

~ 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝟏 // 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 ~ Unnecessarily good. Gintama returns after the majestic conclusion of its last film and comes back with a weird but fun spin-off. I like the feel of this anime; it's refreshing and brings together the best of the main anime's comedy, parodies, absurdity, and meta elements. It's strange that they only put Gintoki as the class teacher, considering that Katsura and Takasugi are also students, Sakamoto is also a teacher. It was refreshing and better than I expected, although a little strange at first, At certain moments the anime makes you feel as if the main anime characters are playing acting roles and I like that because the meta aspect has a justification. The only downside is that, since the anime is more focused on comedy, The moments of seriousness feel somewhat out of place and even rare. Although it clearly maintains a balance between comedy and seriousness, I like several moments and some others are better. Although it must also be mentioned, this anime feels unnecessary, and even the anime itself knows it, as Takasugi says in episode 11. It was a good experience; it's not as good as the main anime, but it was acceptable. I'm interested to know what they'll do in the next season and how this strange spin-off will continue.
