Suicide Squad Isekai

I was expecting a pretty bad anime here, but I was pleasantly surprised. Isekai Suicide Squad surprised me not in its narrative development or its complexity, but in how well it managed to work on its "lack of quality". The anime was born to be a big joke and, knowing this, it played with its mistakes in a relaxed way. Maybe it was an unplanned shot, but it hit the target. Regarding the story, it follows that of an Isekai, but with that hint of American narrative, which is fair considering where the anime is based and I say that it worked minimally well. In technical aspects, the direction is nothing special, but the animation surprises in several moments, elevating the experience of clearly idiotic scenes. It's still a very questionable anime and you may not have the same patience as I did to face it, but if you want to watch an anime just to clear your head, this could be one of the choices. But there are better ones.

Suicide Squad Isekai is a roller coaster of feelings. Its good in some parts and sadly doesn't do well for others. But in the end, it was focused on fun and that's something I think people should look towards about it. Animation is great, but sometimes takes a little nose dive before picking back up again. The soundtrack is nice, and the characters are enjoyable to watch when they have dumb discourse. Peacemaker was my favorite. If you want some stupid fun, then this is your show. If you strive for better, there's a lot more out there for you and you should pounce at the opportunity to find those. For my first and probably only Isekai, this was cool :)

Isekai Suicide Squad is an anime that had a very big potential but didn’t use it. From the start we have already characters that a lot of people love and you don’t need to spent time to write new once’s so you can put all of your effort to the story. But they didn’t. The story feels to rushed and not complete even if we gonna get the second season is still feels empty. We did have a good start about sending supervillains to another world for a mission even tho I was not always happy with what’s going on it was decent and a lot of people can enjoy it. We meet characters from another world, the squad get into problems and we learn new things about this new world ,after this I did feel like the middle we did have unnecessary episode for an anime that already gonna be short we only have 10 ep which is very short for spending whole ep for nothing. Towards the end the story start to get to a point and the fights were great I did enjoy them but here the biggest problem is start to show itself. Rushed and not complete story. Anime just started to throw everything in the last 3 ep without explaining why, who, were etc. The things that were plot twist was just moments that was not explained to usat all we didn’t expect them because we did have zero idea about them. For me this type of plot twist just lazy and uninteresting the villians was boring and I just didn’t care about them. To finish my take on story it did had a potential but that’s all. The best part of this anime was main characters the Squad was great they were funny and interesting. Even tho they already existing characters still thanks for not ruining them. They are bot the best versions of themselves in DC universe but a good once’s King Shark was just perfect zero flaws best character. The animation had lacked in some ep but it did have very good moments to so I was happy with it in the end. If you wanna enjoy this anime you should see it as an medicore isekai with very great characters from the start. If you can ignore some stupid moments that sometimes writers just not explaining things to us and focus on fight I think people who likes isekai gonna enjoy it. Good fights and good main cast if you wants this yea its definitely for you.

The original concept had a lot of potential, especially with the collaboration between East and West, and if any DC group could embrace the isekai genre, it would be the Suicide Squad. With the scenario written by the Re:Zero author and animation by Studio Wit, it seemed like nothing could go wrong. However, the show plays it too safe with these concepts, resulting in a very mediocre outcome. I suspect this project was greenlit to promote a video game that also flopped, making it seem like this squad is cursed. There’s no blood, gore, or the usual anti-hero antics you’d expect; instead, the show feels more like Suicide Squad 2016 than the James Gunn reboot. Most of the squad members act like teenage delinquents rather than actual villains, although the changes to Clayface's personality are interesting, and Jun Fukuyama's voice acting really enhances the character. But beyond that, the show doesn’t offer much. The world-building feels barebones, with kingdom that seems just big enough for the squad to come in and save the day, rather than being part of a fully realized world. The conflict also feels forced, as it’s clear that most characters on both sides don't really want to fight, let alone kill each other. The Joker in this anime comes off as edgy, losing the charm that made him the Clown Prince of Crime, though that’s just my opinion. The animation isn’t great either; it’s obvious that the production team prioritized certain episodes and scenes over others, making some episodes, especially in the first half, hard to watch. Amanda Waller's actions don’t make much sense either; she’s portrayed as a mastermind controlling everything, but when you think about it, her actions have little impact and seem more like plot devices. Overall, while the show is easy enough to watch and hints at a second season, I wouldn't be surprised if public disappointment shuts it down for playing it too safe with the material.

What do you get, when you base an anime on a messy live action movie, use its characters, rewrite them to fit tropes, and throw them into a generic isekai setting? The answer: A mess, that's called Isekai Suicide Squad. In short the plot is at the beginning: Force bad guys with bomb collars to help a kingdom in distress to secure resources. Later on there are some twist and turns, that don't make sense. Some characters get random power ups some don't, for whatever reason some have magical affinity some don't. The writing is not the only thing that is inconsistent, the animation also does its part: Sometimes it's a pure sakugafest (like episode 7) and other times it's a mess. As a guy, who liked the animated batman series and the animated suicide squad movies, I can't recommend this anime for fans in that regard. The characters are a complete joke: Amanda Waller, who is a very calculating threat, is here an idiot in regards who she gave a bomb collar. Deadshot is a joke, Peacemaker is just there, Killer Croc is so unremarkable my mate and I thought he would be just a random boss lizardman. Some of the antagonist characters sort of fulfill their role as villain of the day decently. The main antagonist on the other hand, hoo boy, is completely retarded, as she could've won before the anime even started. The kingdom characters are also nothing special: The most prominent of them like the princess is just an insecure nice girl and the hero, is a walking incompetent weak ass punching bag. The only characters I kind of liked, where King Shark, Clayface and Harley. King Shark is kind of an adorably dangerously dummy. Clayface is a flamboyant pop-culture nerd, which kindof works. Last but not least the star of the entire project, Harley Quinn, is overall a wacky nutjob, but a bit more pg and moral (still I don't like the portrayal of her relationship with Joker here). Speaking of Joker, I absolute despise him, he should not be a "sexy" romanceable/romantic nutjob! All said and done, if you want a "turn your brain off"-action show with a couple of wacky characters this show can be for you. Otherwise, if you want something more, don't watch it. 4+/10

Suicide Squad Isekai is a decent show, but it takes a while to get going. The first few episodes didn't really grab me, and it wasn't until around episode 4 that things started becoming interesting. The problem is that by the time the show starts picking up, it's already close to the end. It feels like it takes too long to get to the more interesting parts, and I wish the show had more time to explore its ideas. One thing I found interesting was seeing this version of Peacemaker. Comparing him to the James Gunn version is really interesting because they are very different takes on the same character. Overall, Suicide Squad Isekai is a fun idea with some good moments, but it takes too long to get started. When it finally gets interesting, there's not enough time left for it to fully shine.

Short minimalistic review - if you come without expecting a very good storyline, you'll enjoy it, great animation by WIT and while it may not have a very good storyline, it does ofcourse have one with quite a few shockers. Art Style has some very unique moments at the right places while mixing in 3D in a way that it isn't very disturbing. Nearly every episode is filled with an action scene - one which has top tier animation on it. Character's being as they are from the DC universe, there wasn't much character building which is only to be expected but whatever character building was there - including of the supporting characters was definitely reasonable/to the expected extent.

DC & Anime, can it work? Sure, it worked surprisingly well for me, although the series also has its weaker moments. The series works by throwing DC characters into fantasy (as the name of the series itself says - Isekai), which I was a little afraid of, because DC ("an offshoot of Gotham") is more of a world that is still relatively down to earth when it comes to magic, but the creators kept it in a reasonable compromise and when there was some magic or other mythical things, it looked at least COOL! The main driving force is, as usual, the characters, whose character and choice for the series is great, especially Harley and Clayface are excellently worked out here, on the other hand Amanda works wonderfully in the opposite direction and even from the short footage she got here I "hated" her again (but the ending was entertaining). Nanu could have had more funny scenes here and Deathshot seemed a bit bricked to me, but they still work well here. I also have to praise how they managed to connect the flashbacks with the Joker with the plot in the fantasy world, even though it was quite straightforward. The first 7 episodes worked great anyway, the eighth was the weaker part before the end and the last two episodes were again a nice spectacle that brought a major twist and change in the story (which I found very rushed, because they need to end it quickly), but I don't have a big problem with that. The final battle looked nice, but in some parts it suddenly felt a bit like a children's series, where the heroes win with a snap of their fingers and have to get brand new suits for greater effect (but I say visually nice, so I don't want to complain). Although it is not a flawless series and clearly, it seems that DC wanted to graft a story into the anime, but I enjoyed it the whole time and would like to watch a possible second season.

A concise review. Isekai Suicide Squad isn't here to win storytelling awards, and honestly, neither were the movies. The plot is nothing special, but I’m personally not watching this for deep narratives. Where it shines is in the chaotic energy, stylish action, and great character design. The animation style fits perfectly with the vibe, and the sound design & music are pretty good. It captures that same wild and messy fun the movies had, and that alone makes it entertaining. If you go in expecting something serious, you’ll be disappointed. But if you’re just looking for a fun ride with cool visuals and a ridiculous isekai twist, you’ll probably enjoy it.

Behold, the great seasonal punching bag! From Wit Studio and Warner Bros, we have a rare but welcome Cartoon-Anime amalgamation. It gobbles up greedily, elements from both Western Cartoons and Anime, however Anime(thankfully) wins this tug of war. I will preface this by saying I watched in it Japanese. Without even beginning to watch it, there’s evidently a lot to engage in hostility here for the seasoned hate-watchers(me included); - A DC/Japanese Fantasy Crossover. -Western Cartoon Vibes? -Anime Original -Harley (LOL) Quinn -Suicide (LOL) Squad -10 episodes?? -Isekai (Garbage??) -3D CGI Monsters??? (boogeyman) -Warner Bros?? With such great potential, my mission ended in abject failure. Somehow I finished it with the only 2 things to critique in any sort of depth from this list being the anime original short story, and the 10 episodes. My mouth was gaping open, it turns out, the show is actually good. Despite this, verifiably we can see it’s become an easy target for the hivemind to pile-on with their drone bot reviews and critiques. They engage in mass copying of like phrases to describe dubious arguments that they made up. They magnify the show’s shortfalls which they’ve hypocritically praised other shows for. I don’t believe anyone who watches this show with an open mind can hate this. To dislike this show you must truly come in wanting to hate it, and that didn't even work for me. It's a very bony isekai, with the meat in action, dialogue and humor elements that elevate the experience to explosive heights. I get it, we’re all sick of Harley Quinn, believe me, ill be the first to say that. This overused, utterly insufferable vixen is endlessly and shamelessly getting shoved in so that they can lure in most lucrative demographic (young to middle-aged women) to consume these shows. Consequently they’ve killed off all of the die-hard fans of this series. However this show is a maverick, in this succession of adaptions. It scarcely even feels like she was shoehorned in, she fits the story quite well. Starting with recent history Suicide squad has verifiably taken a beating of true justice as of late. Starting with that dreadful game from 2024 was comprehensively awful, followed by an essentially below average Hollywood(James Gunn) reboot in 2021. There’s truly nothing to expect when it comes to this IP. It has never been great, you were supposed to get some entertainment value however for some of the entries to this franchise, even that may have been in question. The current sentiment over social media for this IP is not great to say the least. It’s the prime target for mockery and band-wagoning by the now established anti-woke brigade, in spite of this the producers and publishers seem to absorb it releasing more and more adaptations. The cynicism or distrust isn’t in anyway unfounded or unfair it’s exactly what they deserve, it might not be enough. It has been for the most-part a cash grab and many of the previous attempts were set-up and deserved to receive public backlash. What you have to understand is that whenever a new entry to this franchise is adapted it’s mix and match cast and there’s always too much creative freedom in the story-telling. The greatest mainstay is that lead is always Harley Quinn but the other members are practically whatever the adaption demands. This, of course follows the trend, taking their own editorial spin on the concept. I will say that, this rendition of Harley is probably the best I’ve seen. You get to see how crazy she is, but it seldom neglects her vulnerabilities and nature as a woman. Characters like Joker, Peacemaker and to some extent Deadshot and Clayman were standouts here at just being presented in a very endearing fashion. Their powers are on display but also their limitations as well, there's a consistency to their move sets and capabilities which did wonders for the sound mind. If you love those characters you will be pleasantly surprised. In particular Peacemaker who's fans have been eating good lately with a fairly decent live-action series as of late, on the hand Joker’s farcical, failed, faux-harmonic movie sequel has left fans of the character in total despondency. For fans of Joker, you probably need this fix. For those who managed to finish the show, it’s puzzling the amount of negative responses. I’m just dazzled by the sheer amount of dishonesty or false representation or critiques with zero argument. The truth is? It’s an entirely new premise. It was extremely riveting experience with very eye-catching fight scenes packed with slapstick humor which never reached western levels of cringe. No homosexual themes or hints, minute to non-existent perverted sexual jokesr. Yes we have these familiar DC characters but they are portrayed intentionally in a very palatable manner. It’s DC villains and for the most part they’re in character. They’re scumbags they’re boisterous, they’re careless and they do stupid things and it’s all good fun. It’s written like the older type of shows just good entertainment with no ulterior motives, how refreshing does that sound? It truly delivers that experience. I will quickly summarize: What are the Pros? +Very Fluid and expressive and colorful animation, with a welcome stylish edge +Harley, Joker and Peacemaker +Funny and Exciting. Smooth and enjoyable character dynamics. +Barely any Americanized progressive themes. +Decent characterization with a tame character pool. +Tactful fight choreography. +Amazing Soundtrack from Kenichiro Suehiro(Eminence, Fire Force, Re:zero) +Banger OP and unskippable ED. +Decent ending setting up a second season with heightened potential. What are the Cons? -Very bare-bones isekai plotline. -Lack of World building, Explaining of elements. -10 episodes. -Limited Story/Plot -Episode to episode direction poor. -Scenes lacking staying power, fleeting emotions. -Hard to get immersed, due to cartoonish tendencies. Well there’s not much to nitpick on, they knew what their job was and executed it quite well. It’s astonishing, they genuinely they did characterization of the main cast better than so many of the Hollywood superhero productions, it’s somewhat embarrassing. This show is up there with the recent rare western gem “The Penguin” allowing you to forget plague-inducing trash like “The Boys”, ”Gotham Knights”, “NaOmegalul(Naomi)”, “Aquaman” and “Superman and LOL(Lois)” Final Rankings Animation 8 Sound 9 Plot 5 Characters 7 Enjoyment 8 37/50 – 7.4 – 7/10 – Recommend to Enthusiasts You’re thinking, “You sound like you loved it why have you only given it 7”? Well I must confess that I’m primarily a binger. As an honorary binger, the number of episodes as well as the ability for me to get immersed heavily sways my score. I must be able to spend hours on end pressing the next button at the end of an episode without a single thought to really reach the 9-10 mark. it’s hard to rate so highly a show that I could control my urge to binge, 4 sessions for a 10 episode season, when I’ve done 24 previously in one to 2 sessions for other shows, this, of course heavily affects my score. I recommend this show to all Isekai connoisseurs and those who are fond of DC comics as gateway to the better medium(Manga and Anime). Honestly this has trumped anything America has come up with for this “Suicide Squad” group, with only the first adaption “Batman: Assault on Arkham” coming close. As a binge it’s not the best as it’s just not too coherent as they bridge between the episodes, a hall-mark of Western cartoons juxtaposed with Anime. Give it a try, ignore the negative reviews and by the way where is the Season 2 announcement? Hope this helps.

It was very good for the first half, and I really enjoyed it. It was fun and quirky seeing how the suicide squad reacted to this new situation they found themselves in. It felt rather fresh, and novel compared to the many many regular old isekai. But the second half didn't really hit as hard. It wasn't bad, it was just mediocre or okay. I'd say it is worth starting, but finishing it is up to you. Harley pretty much carried the show. Joker was absent for all of it except a few scenes. The other suicide squad members felt more like supporting characters to Harley. Other than the mud-man and the shark man who had some fair presence and running gags, the rest were somewhat forgettable in terms of presence when placed next to Harley. The isekai world while quite visually interesting and not like a normal game starter town, there was minimal world building/lore and character design/depth. Though this is to be expected since the focus is on the suicide squad rather than developing an in depth isekai world to get people heavily invested in its world.
