I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History

When I think about the best villainess characters of all time, I’ll have Alicia in that list. Rekiaku is a pretty straightforward otome style story, but Alicia is what really makes it enjoyable. She’s determined to go down in history as a legendary villainess in a world where no one’s ever heard of the role. This was a fun watch from start to finish thanks in large part to Alicia’s antics and the way she genuinely wants to make a difference in the world. It had some issues, but I was overall very pleased and will miss this one a lot! Like I said, Alicia was the main draw here for me. She was just such a cool lead, full of energy and ambition, while not being stupid. Whereas a lot of otome leads want to lead normal lives out of the spotlight, Alicia embraces her abilities and wants to improve her country. She recognises the inequality that’s rampant in the country and actually stands up for the voiceless in society. While she tries to be an edgelord at times, she’s got a heart of gold and throughout the show we see everyone she comes into contact with’s lives drastically improved. Whether it’s helping a poor village out or stopping bullying in school, Alicia just seems to know exactly what to do! As we’ve come to expect from otome shows, the world Alicia gets reincarnated into doesn’t end up going the same way as the game she played on Earth. Particularly as it relates to her role and relationships as the villainess. This leads to conflict between she and the saint and that’s where my first big issue with this show is. The Saint is the most annoying character ever. She has this superficial holier than thou gimmick that just made watching every scene with her such a chore. It’s so obvious that it’s fake and not who she really is, leading to a lot of conflicts between she and Alicia throughout. But even when she got fleshed out at the end of the series, I just couldn’t bring myself to care about her. She’s annoying and a weak antagonist. My other issue is the male lead in the show who’s like 4 years older than Alicia and has been into her since she was 7. Very creepy relationship dynamic that the show tries to play off as a cute, but it never landed with me. In fact that’s one of the major reasons I can’t rate this as highly as I want to. The story is solid, Alicia is a great character, but man that romance is bad. Production wise, nothing really to speak of here. Art is solid, animation is mediocre to passable and the voice acting is decent. I’m kind of met with a conundrum when evaluating this show because I love the MC, but dislike the romance and conflict with the saint. For me personally this took it down a little bit, but it’s still worth checking out if you like well written female characters. Alicia is badass, beautiful and competent. While the story has its flaws, I still really enjoyed watching it when the prince wasn’t on screen. Rekiaku gets 8 out of 10

Another villainess anime with white lotus OGFL and an obsessive ML. DID CONSENT NOT EXIST IN THE SHOW. I could count at least 2 times where the FL did not consent to the ML action. FIrst time is when the FL got sick becasue she practiced magic and couldnt drink the medicine. Guess what the ML did. He HELP HER BY FORCE FEEDING THROUGH A KISS WHILE SHE WAS UNCONSCIOUS. SHE WAS 10 AND HE WAS 15 AT THAT TIME. Another time was when FL was rescued by ML from a knife attack and the FL woke up to the ML SLEEPING NEXT TO HER NAKED?? She was 13 and him 18?? The plot of the show was pretty standard and so predictable. 3/10 wont recommend

“I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History” is what happens when you have an interesting idea but have no idea how to execute it. Cambridge Dictionary’s definition of the word “Villain” is: 1. A bad person who harms other people or breaks the law 2. A criminal 3. a character in a book, play, film, etc. who harms other people 4. Something or someone considered harmful or dangerous Obviously, none of those apply to Alicia — The MC — (and to be totally honest most of the “villainesses” in those types of shows from the last few years). She does harm people but only in self defense (I am not counting hurting their feelings, that would be idiotic) and never does any sort of irrecoverable or long lasting harm. She doesn’t break the law in any meaningful way. She does break a lot of rules but it’s not the same as breaking government sanctions. I guess You could use the #4 definition but I’m hesitant because of the reason why she is considered that. So those are mostly worthless in the context of this show. Let’s look somewhere else. Merriam-Webster’s have some other definitions: 1. A character in a story or play who opposes the hero 2. A deliberate scoundrel or criminal 3. One blamed for a particular evil or difficulty Now, this looks much more fitting for the show. Alicia does have a boner for being in opposition to Liz — the so-called “Saint”. The problem? She does not oppose her in any meaningful way and the way she does are ultimately ways that would make both of them grow as people. It’s a rather interesting (in principle) clash of ideals, with unfortunately, terrible execution. She is not a criminal (as I wrote earlier) nor a scoundrel. She doesn’t fit the definitions. The only definition that somewhat fits is the #3, but even that is a stretch. Still… I guess this definition is used for story points, even if they are lazy. Before I continue I would like to explain something. I will be talking about “plot” and “story”. Many people use those terms interchangeably. I’m not one of those people, so to make sure everyone is on the same page… I use the definitions for “plot” and “story” as Lisa Cron describes them: “What happens in the story is the PLOT, the surface events.” “STORY is about how the things that happen affect someone in pursuit of a difficult goal, and how that person changes internally as a result”. Let’s get back to trying to classify Alicia. Let’s see if she fits into a category that is not used often and even rarer used properly — The Anti-Villain. What is that? Well… there are a few definitions, more or less convoluted, so I will use the elements that repeat themselves in most of those definitions — someone who might have positive, even heroic adjacent traits, but their ultimate goal is morally corrupt or just evil. They may use positive actions and even achieve morally positive outcomes to some situations but their ultimate goal is one that has no other way of interpretation but evil. So does Alicia fit this bill? No. This is not even a debate. Her motivation is a bit weird but her goal is not morally corrupt or evil. Yes, she uses morally positive actions for utilitarian purposes, but that mostly turns out to be a facade almost immediately in most cases. Case and point? She saves a dying young woman and tells her that she only did it for her to be her insider in the town of, supposedly, criminals, only to barely use her in that case and provide more help for the town than she gets out of it. So no. She is far from being an anti-villain. How about an Anti-Hero in that case? We will use the classic definition of this archetype — someone who has moral/noble goals, whose actions sometimes defy traditional morality, someone who has visible flaws (usually internal but sometimes both internal and external) and is not apologetic about them, in fact more often than not, they embrace them. In 9/10 cases they are also realistic or disillusioned by the world. What about Alicia? Well… the “is a realist and a pragmatic” one on that. She sees that Liz’s way of “saving” the town is idealistic and flawed, and she confronts her about it. She does have some flaws but they are mostly superficial and viewed only because she consciously tries to act like a stereotypical villain. I’m ill-inclined to call that a true flaw. So no. She is not an Anti-Hero. So what is she? That’s actually a very easy question to answer. A hero. If we use the classical definition that a hero is a paragon of virtue then she fits the bill to the T. Virtues described by Aristotle are: Courage, Temperance, Generosity, Self-value, Magnanimity, Proper Ambition, Patience, Truthfulness, Wittiness, Friendliness, Modesty and Righteous indignation. During those 13 episodes we see Alicia demonstrate all of those more than once. I could give examples for it but I don’t want to write an analytical paper here. So yeah, despite what the title suggests Alicia is a hero. A hero that sometimes acts like an asshole but never in true malice. She just wants to be viewed in a certain way. Sorry for that rant, I just had to get it out of myself. Back to the show. So let’s get something out of the way. This show starts like any other isekai. Shows the protagonist and establishes she’s special and sooner rather than later will become OP AF. Later in episode 4 (a bit too late for my taste, I would prefer it in episode 3 or even at the tail end of episode 2) teases at an ideological conflict between Alicia and Liz, something that could and should have been amazing. A clash of ideals, world views and methods instead of classical violence of pulling things out of asses. All to end in such a lazy and subpar way that it almost made me regret watching this show. Unfortunately the writer had other plans and instead of creating a story driven show wrote a plot driven one. Not even an original plot. Most plot points happen only because Alicia needs a lazy, surface only, motivation to become stronger. Having a show concentrating on a protagonist becoming stronger isn’t a bad idea, but this show doesn’t even care enough for that. There is a moment in the show when Alicia has to earn 10 levels to continue on her chosen path. This should be something meaningful. It takes her 2 years to do so and… we see none of it. She isolates herself for 2 years, sees no one, talks to no one and not only everyone goes along with it but we, as viewers, see nothing of this rigorous training. NOTHING. She just one day stops isolating herself, is older, more powerful… and almost nothing long lasting becomes of it. It’s just a waste of a perfectly viable training arc. Granted, I’m not sure this writer could write an interesting, meaningful and engaging training arc but to give nothing is just insulting. The worst part? It seems the whole damn world (apart maybe for the so called town of criminals and it’s still a bit of a stretch because the whole town is rarely useful as a plot or story device) waited for her to reappear to have any sort of meaningful development (and no, I am not counting the incident with the wolf because it was told and not shown). Other characters did jack shit during those 2 years. Their relationships don’t change, their personalities and mannerisms remain the same and we only get to see small snips of what happened to them during her absence. We could get an episode or two about the supporting cast to flesh them out a bit. It’s really disheartening. Liz is obviously interested in the prince, who has feelings for Alicia, and yet, she did nothing to win him over, when her rival isn’t even on the stage? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? If anyone had any doubt that Alicia is a Mary Sue, this is the moment that the last remnants of that should die right here. Honestly I was hoping that maybe Liz — the so-called saint that almost everyone loves — would turn out to be a true anti-villain. There are a few moments when it is hinted that it’s strange people are practically worshiping her. Even those that hated her …

tl;dr Mid, watch only if you have read the original or love the genre and have watched almost every anime about "vileness something." ---A brief review from me--- The first episode felt underwhelming, with weak art, mid-tier animation, and a mediocre OST. However, from episode 2 onward, the series starts gaining momentum, becoming increasingly interesting until around episode 7, when it completely loses its pacing, similar to Dahlia in Bloom. After that, it drags on with repetitive, pointless content. At least Dahlia offered something engaging past episode 6, but here it's just boring. The final episodes weren’t too bad, but the disappointment from earlier ones left a bitter aftertaste. Would I recommend it? Not really. Should you watch it? Perhaps if you’ve read the original or are a fan of the genre. It’s disappointing, considering it was one of my most anticipated anime from the previous season.

The anime is the embodiment of boredom at its most boring, with nothing to shake us out of the ambient monotony that runs through these 13 episodes. What I mean by this is that everything is seen over and over again, without ever adding anything to the already hackneyed scenario of the young girl reincarnated as a romance game villain. And from there, every clichéd event unfolds exactly as you'd expect it to, so you're never surprised or invested in any way, and so you just endure the scenario and nothing more. But what pushes me below the average is that in execution it manages the feat of messing up what it does! For example, the heroine behaves like the most evil villain of all, and for that we get 0 subtlety, because she repeats it 20 times per episode, and worse than that, she never actually behaves like a villain, despite what she keeps saying, every one of her actions is that of a lambda big-hearted heroine, the only difference is that she makes a villainous laugh and says she is, but I'm sorry, saying an event is bad doesn't automatically make it bad, it doesn't work like that! So the basic promise alone is screwed up, but you can extend that to this season's central twist, which is pathetic in its execution, to the romance, which has no chemistry and comes out of nowhere, and overall to everything the anime undertakes, it's sad beyond belief to see such a result. I'll say one last word about the feat of transforming Alicia's only bad deed, namely harassing Lize when she hasn't asked her to, into a good deed, since at the end you're made to believe that Lize is a manipulator, when formally she isn't. But then, it would have been too much to ask that Alicia be allowed to do what she wants. But it would have been asking too much to actually make Alicia mean in even one relationship. But the bottom line is that I'm not even annoyed by this level of pandering, I'm just indifferent. In short, in the end I won't retain anything from this anime other than a vague boredom, but did it ever try to be more than that? Unfortunately, I don't think so.

The only reason to watch this series is if you have some certain attachment to reincarnating into Otome games as the villainess or Himederes when they laugh. I happen to have such a condition, so this review will be rating it in comparison to series of the same nature. If you do not care for this genre there is no reason to watch it. The "RealPolitik" present functions better in Tanya, LoGH, or Code Geass. Medieval fantasy with haughty women trying to teach you moral lessons/political ones are better in spice and wolf. And if you purely want Otome Villainesses then watch Lvl99 villainess (atleast then you'll get a satisfying ending) or read "Chounin A wa Akuyaku Reijou wo Doushitemo Sukuitai" WHY DOES IT FAIL: What successfully drives these types of shows is an overarching plot that culminates at the end of the dating game. Afterall the point of the series is to mimic a dating game. Rekishi ni Nokuro however has no such plot or urgency. We are told the saint is going to save the kingdom, but there is no demon king to threaten it or politics to keep her away (aside from some last minute cliff hanger.) All we get is the resurrection of a penal colony, however this is given such little screen time and little urgency that only upon multi year time skips does the viewer question what has become of it which the answer is always "its a little better now" I only care for these types of series for the machiavellian girls. The only issue is Alicia barely registers as one. Yes she does go against the crowd in a better to be feared than loved method, but that comes in these battle of witts moments where she is attacked or accused and must find a way to orient herself as the villian. These moments have individual faults, but their greatest weakness is Alicia has no goal. If she were like lvl99 then she'd be about powerleveling and keeping the saint in check to beat the end boss. If it was Tanya it would be about surviving and establishing the glory of Austrian economics upon the kaiserreich. Instead our villianess only has this self proclaimed vague goal to "watch the saint." What this does for the actual diatribes in the story is it forces the author to come up with these contrived arguements where some girl starts drama with alicia, but alicia cant outright prove them wrong because that would make her not villianess, so she must wait for someone to dues ex machina a third voice that lets her escape with her pride intact. There are some good moments in the series, but the best of these either happe earlier or they lead to the main girl and everyone else cutting their hair and ruining the himedere look. ONLY WATCH IF YOU RAN OUT OF HIMEDERE

Just another compilation of motives we have seen hundreds of time done worse than we seen hundreds of times. Author clearly had a checklist off all tropes he needed to hit and well he certainly did. First of all the world building is a mess - you've got the standard European-esque society with magic being nobles only -> this necessitates a standard discrimination sideplot. Except this time everybody thinks it's bad - noble families heads agree, king agrees but that doesn't matter since that is a genre trope and therefore needed. Also there is this poor village made up of criminals, except no criminals are there and for some reasons this village made up of like 5 houses is constantly on mind of every aristocrat. Worse then world building are characters, chief among them the main antagonist Liz. She has the standard trope of having magic she can't control that makes everyone like her. Except we know that day one leading to an incredibly shallow character and all drama that leads from this also doesn't have any depth. She doesn't evolve a single bit trough the whole show, till the "OMG I didn't know I was manipulating everyone" realization which makes here picture perfect ideal whatever. Author could have setted her up as genuinely sinister person - and for a brief second it looked like that (episode 6) but the author was too scared to commit and it went nowhere. Our protagonists is just slightly better. the concept of here actually wanting to play out the role of villanes could have been refreshing. However it went essentially nowhere - she doesn't make any person dislike her (except the Liz's drug junkies, which doesn't count) and for a "evil" person she is full lot of unnecessary compassion. Probably would have helped if they decided to drop all the stuff with common folk. Or she could have done the same things not out of compassion but in order to create a more efficient exploitative system. Currently we have a protag who is "playing" as character, leading to her not being a one in a first place. Ending was partially spoiled in like a first episode (I cannot phantom why would the author done this since it added absolutely nothing. ) and cemented in 10th (I think). Not to mention, as is common in anime, it ended up with sequel baiting. Animation is simplistic tough workable, soundscape is fine.

This is an isekai-otome-shoujo. Look at me flexing this fancy vocabulary after watching like thirty titles, huh? So basically, it’s a girl-for-girls kind of story about an isekai’d protagonist who ends up in the alternate reality of a dating sim. I’m not a huge fan of this subgenre—I’ve only seen Villainess Level 99—and while on the surface these titles seem similar (same setting, same starting point for the MC), they’re actually very different. This anime has plenty of solid dialogue. Most of it wasn’t too painful to sit through (and that’s saying something coming from someone outside the target audience). Sure, there were some blatantly dragged-out or straight-up dumb moments, especially when the characters should say something but don’t for no reason, causing unnecessary problems. I see this trope as a lazy slap in the viewer’s face. Thankfully, there weren’t too many of those. Aside from the dialogue, I want to highlight the independent subplots: the one about the struggling village and the king’s brother. It’s refreshing to see an otome that doesn’t just stick to romantic relationships between young people but delves into deeper philosophical themes—like governance, parent-child dynamics, and more. The balance between humor and drama was spot on. I especially loved the cute little animated inserts—they fit perfectly and added to the charm. It’s solidly average. The world-building, music, and animation are all fine—nothing amazing, but nothing offensively bad either. Verdict: if you’re a fan of the genre, you’ll probably enjoy it. That said, if you’ve already binged every variation out there, this one won’t bring anything new to the table. For isekai miners like me? Meh, you can do better. The protagonist and the supporting cast are well-written, though, so if you’re into character development, it might be worth a watch.

premise - 5/10 nothing special, not bad either, you've seen a variation of it countless times in other shows, but it has it's own flair to it that makes it ok story - 3/10 starts out ok, could even say i had hope for it somewhere in the first episodes, but then quickly devolves into shojo romance with a bland story that goes nowhere and ends without any closure, just setup for a sequel i hope never comes artstyle and animation - 2/10 the only reason i won't give it a 1 is because i've seen a few shows with worse than this. the animation is so low budget, it's inconsistent from scene to scene with characters looking completely different from a different angle, and most of the time it's just still images with just the mouth changing between open and closed, and the rare times there's actual things happening on screen it's badly done as well i'd comment on the artstyle but there is none sound design - 5/10 boring and bland, not even noticeable one way or the other character depth - 2/10 one dimensional characters with preset reactions and opinions you can see coming a mile away character development - 3/10 barely any, i'd say a side character with like 10 minutes of screen time got the most character development, everyone else is just the same as when the show started except for some unimportant changes voice acting (jap) - 4/10 the main character is average but not bad, but the rest of the cast is quite poor performers, with one character who's (arguably intentional) annoying voice made me wanna drop the show every time they spoke, if it wasn't for the main character's voice actor performance, this score would be a 2/10 ~~~~ overall score - 3/10 a low budget, bland show with an uninspired story that goes nowhere, but hey, at least the main character is pretty? i honestly don't know how i managed to finish it, and now that i did, i regret not dropping it earlier

Definitely a masterpiece of the "Villainess" sub-gender! The highlights of this anime are the dialogues between the main character and her antagonist, the saint. I can't pinpoint a downside of this anime, except for the fast that the last episode was a hook to introduce the second season, and it went really far away from the main story so it was all over the place. Art and Animation: 8/10. Characters: 9/10. Plot: 7/10. Overall: 8 Alicia is reincarnated as a villainess, but instead of avoiding the bad ending that follows her role, she decides to be "a villainess that goes down in history". She works very hard to be a suitable rival to the Saint, which is a stereotyped heroine with strong plot-armor that makes her very overpowered. Everyone loves the saint and hates Alicia, but Alicia doesn't bother about it (she actually likes the attention as it makes her pop out more as a villainess) and goes around doing her own thing. I felt like this series should have ended within this season, but the last episode is an introduction to a second season that will ONLY carry on Alicia as a character, therefore abandoning all other characters and plot that we had thus far. I hope it will be enjoyable!

Truly a good “Villainess” isekai, where she actually wants to be a villain, that already makes it a little unique. They even critique the plot armor and naivety of the usual otome protagonist. Story is funny, with cute characters, plot twists, character growth and if you don’t think too much about the ages it can be a cute romance. It is very novel-like that we can see some episodes where they are growing up, the time skips feel earned and everything progress quickly, its a good storytelling. Instead of flashbacks we can see the protagonist actually grow up. Too bad the art is inconsistent and you can tell they it has a low budget or were rushed, if you enjoy otome isekai this is a breath of fresh air. Hope they make a S2!

The animation in this anime is decent, but that's probably its only real strength. Everything else is pretty disappointing. Watching an adult woman behave like a child pretending to be a pirate is just awkward. In a world where monarchs can execute even their own people, the main character suddenly decides to turn everyone against her just for fun. There's hardly any logic behind her actions. The plot is hard to take seriously. It's disjointed, and many scenes feel absurd and poorly directed. The character's behavior is usually explained by some kind of magic she supposedly can't control, and the entire story leans on that. It feels like the author wanted to do something original and tried to stick to a plan, but the plan clearly doesn't work. The whole point of the anime seems to be showing off a bunch of nicely drawn tall guys. It's basically visual fan service for teenage girls, and the plot is just as shallow. Sure, the sheer randomness of what’s happening might spark some curiosity about what wild thing will happen next. But in the end, it's clear that the carrot on the stick just isn’t worth it.

Binged this show in one day. To preface, I am a girl who loves anime like Skip Beat, Lovely Complex, and Yona of the Dawn. I definitely recommend this show for anyone with similar tastes! I feel like modern shoujo anime (especially villainess ones) have a problem with being too on the nose though but this show was just unpredictable enough for me to keep watching. Also, the romance did have me giggling and kicking my feet a bit. The main character is great as well and comes off as very logical. There was not any frustrating parts. Reasons as to why its a 9/10 and not 10/10 is because the art style is nothing special and I wasn't moved to tears by anything but it was still an interesting and fun watch!

The mc isn't anything crazy but I liked her, and I do this this is on the more unique side. I always love when they're good with swords and can save themself! The first episode felt underwhelming and I watched it all on 2x speed which might sound crazy but it works if you want to get through an anime. But the prince is weird... and I cant get behind them making her 5 years younger. You guys just had to make it weird... 15 y/o finding a 10 y/o attractive?? Art style is fine. There's not much more to say. I looked past the weirdness cause it wasn't always in your face. but if you cant I 10000% understand.

I think there are two very valid takes regarding this anime. If you get bored halfway through and drop it that's completely valid. It's a slow burning, slightly directionless anime that's promising a future payoff while progressing at a snails pace. Then in the second half things start happening, so if you break through that and finish it you'll enjoy it. The characters are, in the first half, stereotypes and unsuprising. I forgot who was related to our protagonist and whether we'd been introducted to certain characters of if they appeared randomly. It's a very standard villianess anime in a school in the first half. Again though, in the second half things start making more sense as things become more unstable around the school and that particular plot thread gets tied up. This makes a lot of sense, because the school stuff absolutely couldn't carry this. We're introduced to some geopolitics and the world around the school gets built, Alicia starts figuring out the details of this Villianess persona she's obsessed with and stops relying on the script of the game. If you can break through a sluggish first half then there's potential here, but without a second season you might just want to buy the LN or manga as despite it's promise it can finish the arcs started later on.

I'm typically not a fan of the "villainess" style stories, but this one was a pretty fun watch. It takes a lot for me to actually binge a show in 2-3 days, but this one hit the mark for me. The main character Alicia is very likeable and relatable, and the general story is easy to follow and has some unique beats. I wouldn't say this is the best show, or even the best "villainess" show, but it's still worth watching if you love romcom anime! I'd say others are harshly judging it because of the typical romcom issues, but personally I find a lot of those things charming. The main character is funny and has a unique way of viewing herself, so even if the story hits some predictable moments, the way she reacts is always fun to watch. It's a pretty good show, easy to watch and has a feel good message of staying true to yourself, helping others when you can, and despite society's inequities, we are all human and deserve respect.

I think that in a market where there is a bit of an oversaturation of "otome player reincarnated as villain with bad fate but resists yet doesn't ever realize they have escaped being a villainess", this anime is such a breath of fresh air, especially Alicia as a character. Instead of avoiding being a villainess, she actively strives towards it. By no means is it the holy grail of anime, but it was very enjoyable and the plot was more interesting than i would have thought. Altogether, i think it's worth a try even if you're burned out on otome game villainess reincarnations.

She wants to be a baddie but in reality she's got a heart of gold. I have re-watched this anime so many times and I never get tired of it, Alicia is such a perfect FL, she thinks of herself as a really intimidating bad girl when in reality she is super cute and sweet. She is always up to something and will take you by surprise with what she puts her mind to. Her relationship with the ML puts these two at one of my top favorite couples. Prince Duke is just *chef's kiss* - he is an extremely capable ML who is just always two steps ahead of everyone else (except Alicia who keeps him on his toes). One of the things I love about him is how he views Alicia, he knows her goals and aspirations and is willing to protect her and do whatever it takes to get her closer to where she wants to go. I love this anime so much I bought the manga and light novel for it. I really hope we get a Season 2 as Alicia has big plans for her future!

This show was an alright one. The plot points and characters would make it about a 7 for me, however there are some aspects that brought it down to a super average show for me. First, the prince is a bit of a creep. He's extremely forward with the MC even when they're really young and that weirded me out a bit. But I guess that's the girl's romance side of it that I can't understand. Second is the poor animation at times. It's very noticeable that the budget wasn't super high for it, but these shojo shows rarely have much of one, so I shouldn't expect too much. The third is the use of CGI when it wasn't needed. The quality of the animation was already not great. I would have rather they just poorly animated horses and carriages and things rather than just shoving in a 3d model. All of that brought it down a point for me, but the plot is original enough to consider if you like shojo dramas.

An otome anime where the FMC actually tries to be the villainess she got isekaied as... or does she? Even she questions the correct path to becomes a villainess, so how can someone follow a path that they don't even understand correctly? If the "villainess" part is just standing up for yourself and calling bs when you see bs, and being more bold than usual with your approach, not sugar coating stuff, then ig quite a few people are in the "villainess" category... This felt more like watching her finding the definition of what kind of villainess she wants to become and trying to stick to it the best she can, always calling herself as one... Ig I was thinking a bit too much while watching this anime, so maybe that's why I found it pretty boring and uninteresting in terms of almost everything. As a general view, the story is pretty generic, you got that FMC being isekaied in an otome game that she knows about and is happening in a kingdom. She starts at 7y old iirc, but there are time skips so you will catch most of the action happening inside their royal/magic academy... You have the typical characters that you find in almost every otome anime like the serious and icy prince, the blonde that's always aloof and etc. But now let us talk about the problems I had with this anime and why I couldn't really enjoy it: - very weak and small worldbuilding. You aren't going to explain barely anything about the place where the action takes place? Distances that barely make sense? You're going to introduce high ranking people and interests, but barely a few characters that are actually important in such a big kingdom that it has an academy for the nobles? Hierarchy structure? The king barely having any people near him? Where's the army? Guards? Ministers? Other people? Maids? So many students shown, but only a few that actually matter and do something? Where are the teachers?? Man, this felt like such an empty world to me while I was watching... Felt like only the characters that had something to say/do were shown and talked about, and the rest forgotten. Like I even forgot the FMC had a mother until the last episode... Such a small perspective that it just makes everything feel unnatural to me... - magic system. where is it? this anime spent quite a bit of time hyping the magic system and powers like "not many reached level 100" and talking a bit about levels and that they are hard to reach and what a genius the FMC is that she can use magic at such a young age, even giving time skips for the FMC to learn it... all for it to barely be shown and then quickly forgotten :/... But the few times you see magic, you can see it is quite OP... and then you show me that certain things that seemed basic to solve in a world with such OP magic can be solved only like that??? Yea, I don't wanna spoil it, but I kinda found it hard to believe that was the best solution for a certain problem... whatever, it's not like they explain much about it... - time skips... I think these time skips were the most empty time skips that I have ever seen. Barely anything happens in these time skips. Felt more like the author just wanted to rush the time and finally reach the ages where things can happen like enrolling in the academy at age 15 and etc... Also feels like these time skips were mostly for the FMC, and the rest of the characters/state of the world stayed somewhat the same. - this story has a few parallel action points happening at once, but it sure is progressing a few of them without telling or showing anything. You just find out that something already happened... which leads to quite a bit of a problem, because when can you attach to characters when the action involving them is being skipped like that?? - the prince... every time he appeared on screen, things would just break the flow of the story and get really weird really quick, and I am not even talking about their age difference in certain moments... it felt like shoujo elements being forced and beaten into the story. It really made me feel awkward watching the scenes with the prince. It did get better more towards the end... but it still happened from time to time - while they do give reasons why people act the way they act, it still felt pretty childish or artificial to me, especially the other FMC that is considered a "saint"... a lot of conversations felt unnatural af to me, even taking the reasons presented into account - the last episode was the most interesting one to watch imo, as it sets for a big change for season 2, but taking into account all the problems I had with season 1 and the story it wants to tell in season 2, I have high doubts the author will be able to tell it in a good way... Story: 4 -- Generic otome story, but the presentation is very lacking. Empty world, weird time skips, events not being shown, sometimes rushing stuff, small perspective, unnatural conversations and interactions.... Art: 7 -- Not many action scenes... But the art in general was acceptable Music: 5 -- Nothing memorable or that strike me as "man, this music really elevated this scene" Characters: 5 -- Generic otome characters + unnatural interactions + quite bad presentation of them = not good at all Enjoyment: 5 -- Somewhat interesting at first, but it become more and more boring the more I watched... the last episode did set quite a nice idea for season 2, but I have high doubts it will be executed well enough when taking into account the failures of this season... if it even gets a season 2 Overall: 5 Right now it has 7.33 from 51.931 votes Ranked #2717 Popularity #2134 Members 108,106 as of 30/04/2025. Tbh, I cannot really recommend it. Compared to all the other otome anime/stories that are on the market, this one feels like a really bottom tier one. Couldn't even present generic otome stuff in an enjoyable way... Watch it only if you want to pass the time ig
