My Happy Marriage Season 2

If being a doormat was a sport, Miyo would be the Michael Jordan of it... I wanted this to be good so bad, but instead the second season of this anime has me punching pillows and writing a negative review on a Sunday afternoon. As far as I can remember, the first season was beautiful and had good pacing. It gave us a solid understanding of the different characters. The second season feels like a bad fanfiction written by a teenage author who went head first into exam season and hit us with the "sorry this is rushed. I failed all my classes. But here's the new chapter xoxo" What's posotive about this season and the anime overall is it's art. I'll give you that. However... setting Miyo up against yet another final boss of evil mother makes no sense. Especially since we barely see any character development from her side. It's frustrating to watch her break her back to win over that woman and both her fiance, as well as his father, doing absoltely nothing about it. Aside from empty threats and sly comments, of course. If we ignore the very questionable character interactions and focus on the plot and pacing, then that's even worse. The plot doesn't really pick up until later. We get edged with a handful of scenes, but the pacing is entirely messed up. Which leads to a disgustingly rushed ending. If this had Apothecary Diaries pacing and better character development/interactions I'd be defending this anime with my life. But alas.

uhmmm lets say season 1 has more on words than action while season 2 has more action than words, which is great for me honestly cause season 1 was putting me to sleep, dialoging about same problem all over again its gotten annoying like god move on already!, season 2 is gotten better its like they widen their story not just about them anymore, then the plot was really there though all of the plot was carrying by a third party person which is also has his own story, theres also character development in miyo shes gotten a bit bolder now compare to before, now you might think i like the anime because what i said? no its not i didn't say the anime is great cause thinking overall the anime is just upgrading from boring to becoming generic thats all AND- i was flabbergasted on how they handle their ending, they just skip a scene where its all about the title of the anime??? wtheck. overall anime average but not to recommend either

For me, My Happy Marriage Season 2 is an improvement over the first in virtually every way. The story was more entertaining, higher stakes, more world-building/ supernatural ability lore and Miyo and Kiyoka took the next step in their relationship. So it comes as a surprise to me to see so many other people feeling the opposite! Yes, season 1’s family abuse drama was good, but I think Miyo confronting her mother’s past and coming into her own in this season made it hit a lot harder. Anyone who liked the first season really should go into this with an open mind and enjoy it! The whole appeal of Watakon is seeing a victim of emotional and physical abuse overcome it thanks to the love and support of a great partner, so when we see Miyo smiling and enjoying life with Kiyoka in this season it feels very much earned after everything she endured last season. But of course it’s never that easy is it? There’s plenty of new challenges awaiting her in this second season and it felt like a natural progression of things from season 1, both narratively and from a character development standpoint. We dealt with the dad’s dirty laundry, now it’s time for Miyo’s mom’s. Usui as a villain was very intimidating and forced Miyo to grow up even more. Last season was all about Kiyoka coming to save Miyo, this time around it’s her doing the saving in the end. She’s no longer a damsel in distress and that was big for me. I completely understood Miyo needing to be rescued in the first season, but that would’ve got repetitive if that’s all we saw. She’s got one of the most broken special abilities and just lacked the proper understanding and confidence to use it, seeing that change was so fun. Miyo smiling and becoming much more assertive in this season was awesome too. Survivors of domestic abuse often struggle to open up with other people and this show depicted that gradual trust building process so well. It makes every scene of Miyo smiling and joking with Kiyoka mean so much more. Miyo’s character growth was for sure the best part of the season for me, but I also really enjoyed seeing this world open up so to speak. We got hints about wider conspiracies and political jockeying in season 1, but this season really sees that stuff start to get going. For some people that was a negative as they just liked the Miyo and Kiyoka stuff, but to me that’s the second best part of the show. Like don’t get me wrong, I love seeing our leads being cute with one another, but if that’s all this series were about it would get very dull. You need moments of adversity and tension to make those peaceful moments feel earned and appreciated. A little kidnapping or plot to overthrow the government is what brings couples closer! Just seeing how Miyo and Kiyoka always have each other’s back and can place supreme confidence in one another to save each other is so sweet. Doesn’t matter what you throw at this couple, that bond is unshakeable! The show looks gorgeous just like s1, but my one complaint is probably that the animation at times was not as good as season 1. I remember distinctly being blown away by Kiyoka v Arata in the first season, whereas there’s nothing that did that this time around even though this season had way more emphasis on action. It didn’t look bad, just not as good as season 1. That’s a minor thing though. The character designs are still beautiful and the show is very well directed! If you’re actually into this series for the story and world, you’ll like this season a lot. If you’re here purely for the cute slice of life romance parts of the show.. you’ll probably think it’s worse than season 1. I really recommend just going into this with an open mind and consider what the show has been building up to since the first few episodes, keep in mind how Miyo has changed and how everything that happens in this season enables her to do so. If you do, you’ll come out of this one feeling very satisfied. My Happy Marriage Season 2 gets a very easy 9 out of 10.

half of the words said, summarized here "Miyo!" "Danna-sama!" The horrific dialogue nullifies any sort of plot progress or enjoyability that this show had to offer in the first place. But I can keep going. The Usuba family is just insanely OP. The fact that they can mess with everyone's senses and minds, while other abilities just seem to be solely combat related, creates such an unnatural imbalance in this world. What is saving this show is its characters. All of them are likeable individually, regarding their innate personality, the role they play to contribute to the plot, and their development throughout the story. These are most notable within the 2 main stars, Kiyoka Kudou and Miyo Saimori, I enjoy seeing their individual character development. Both Kiyoka and Miyo slowly realize that they are able to innately experience feelings of love. But although they are happy with each other, there seems to be no external progress within their marriage. I know the marriage was technically arranged, but we're in season 2 and it still feels like they dont trust each other. Any attempts from Kiyoka to be reassuring just seem to be completely ignored by Miyo. And Kiyoka doesnt follow up on his own advice, often keeping his problems to himself. It's all in the spirit to avoid making the other worry, sure, but true progress in relationships doesnt happen until these types of issues are brought up and discussed like a couple who fully trust each other.

My Happy Marriage is, without question, visually beautiful anime series. The art style is soft and elegant, with beautiful lighting, detailed kimono designs, and carefully crafted backgrounds. Visually, the series is consistently impressive and creates a romantic, almost dreamlike atmosphere. Visually, the series is exquisite. Narratively, however... Miyo Saimori, the main female character, has a tragic and abusive past, and her low self-esteem makes sense given the years of emotional neglect and abuse within her own family. Her trauma is understandable, and the premise, an arranged marriage that becomes a source of healing, is fine. The problem is that her victimhood remains such a dominant part of her personality throughout the show that it becomes defining rather than developmental. Even as new allies and her fiancé Kiyoka repeatedly affirm her worth and encourage her to find strength within herself, she rarely acts with real agency. Miyo’s growth arc, particularly in the second season when she begins awakening her abilities, seems to come from Kiyoka rather than from within herself. Despite narrative signals that she is becoming more powerful, she frequently occupies scenes as a reactive presence: enduring, crying, or solemnly declaring moral conviction, but rarely driving the action. The use of a meek vocal tone and the repeated sounds of insecurity further reinforce her fragility, at times to an irritating degree. While these choices may be intended to highlight her trauma, their frequency undercuts the impact of her supposed empowerment and they start to feel excessive. Kiyoka Kudou, meanwhile, embodies the archetypal stoic, powerful male lead. His competence, authority, and emotional restraint align closely with familiar romance tropes. To the series’ credit, he is capable of softness and vulnerability but mostly in private moments with Miyo. Outside of that, his dialogue and demeanor strongly reinforce the traditional protector role. This consistency makes him dependable, but also predictable. The main villain is similarly predictable. His exaggerated laugh and overtly grandiose dialogue make him feel one-dimensional rather than threatening. His motivations, which largely revolve around Miyo’s mother, also feel narrow. He is defined heavily by his connection to one woman, which limits the complexity of the conflict, this narrow framing diminishes the dramatic stakes and reduces what could have been a compelling ideological conflict to something far more conventional. Another major issue is the dialogue. Conversations often lack depth and tend to explain what the audience has already seen. Characters frequently restate plot points or describe events that were just shown from another perspective. Emotional beats are telegraphed rather than earned, and exposition is delivered bluntly rather than woven organically into character interactions. This slows the pacing and makes parts of the story feel repetitive and cliché rather than emotionally impactful. Overall, My Happy Marriage shines in its visuals and atmosphere, and viewers who enjoy traditional romantic storytelling may still find it appealing. However, its heavy reliance on familiar character types, limited agency for its heroine, predictable villain, and overly explanatory dialogue prevent it from reaching its full potential. It is a beautiful series but one that feels narratively safe and, at times, frustratingly shallow.

My main gripe is with the storyline itself, like really, what the hell was that? It took until ep. 9 before the plot properly picked up, which is such a shame considering how well they built the tension and everything in the first season. It's also disappointing how rushed that ending was. I haven't really read the source material but it seems like they just wanted it to be done as soon as possible? A lot of things could've been explored further but nooooooo. They decided to drag the first 8 episodes for some reason and compress the things I was curious about in the last episode.

Honestly, kiyoka visual carried the whole season. The story is mid and not interesting. I actually don't like miyo that much even from season 1 bcs she's too whiny and helpless, but miyo in season 2 is even giving more ick. Still, i finished watching the whole season bcs i was curioused to see how the story will end but it also let me down. The romance is just not there, the action/military story is so-so. If you are looking for great visual, this anime is still recommended. But you are looking for a good plot, you wont get any.

You should have considered watching the first season to understand the plot better. This season had great character development for the female main character, Miyo, which was truly remarkable as it showcased the big difference in how she acted. She was more expressive and assertive in the situations she was always involved in, unlike the first season, where she had been timid and anxious around every person she was surrounded by. She could express how she felt truthfully without any hesitation, and could protect the people she cared about, well, only in the last few episodes. There were action scenes that included Miyo in the act, which, in the previous season, had not been the focus. But more importantly, in this season, we could still witness the cheesy, romantic words they exchanged with each other. The emotion embedded in their voices showed how they loved, cared for, and cherished each other's presence. This was not an action and adventure kind of anime; it was more of a comfy, relaxing, and scenic film where, in every frame of the animation, you could feel like it was a dream. Although some scenes might have been grotesque, overall, it was a satisfying aesthetic vibe.

This season was okay, though not as good as Season 1. I found Miyo to be quite a weak character. She had the potential to do so much more, but all she did was repeatedly say "O Danna-sama" and cry. Personally, I don’t enjoy female leads who are overly emotional and constantly act like crybabies. On the positive side, the art and animation were excellent. I actually enjoy this genre a lot, which is why I decided to watch it. All the other characters had their strong presence. But the weak portrayal of the main female lead really ruined the mood for me. I genuinely liked this anime Season 1 was superb. But… oh well, it is what it is. 7 ⭐ for all the other characters and 1 ⭐ for Miyo Chan

I really enjoyed this installment of the story. At first I was worried that it wouldn't be able to advance past the types of plot points in the first season but then it really delivered. It was great to meet more characters, flesh out the world more, and watch the story and the characters evolve further. This season left me wanting another season and I hope we eventually get there. If you enjoyed the first season, you'll likely enjoy this season too. If you didn't enjoy the first season then there might not be enough change in season two, even though the characters and plot points do grow. I'm just really looking forward to where the story can go from here. I hope we get to see it.

If you think season 1 is kinda mid, i think you should skip this season. Don't get me wrong, I usually really love romance and fantasy anime, even a slow burn type of romance. But this anime don't have good plot whether in romance side or fantasy side. The show starts with a real conflict about supranatural power, politics, and even romance conflict (with Kiyoka ex fiancee). But every thing feels bad. There's no drama from the romance conflict, no important people died after a so called war, and no improvement after Miyo gain supranatural power. It's just male who's fighting here and there and Miyo just watching from the side. I know Miyo has mental trauma, but I thought we already resolved that in season 1. But no. Miyo is still Miyo. There's no character development on her side. She's just asking a villain to stop with talking-no-jutsu. Imagine facing a terr*rist and starts saying "oh please don't be a bad guy, your mom will be sad in heaven" That ridiculous right? Also I don't understand the ending. Sorry I don't want to write a spoiler but in short, Kiyoka and Miyo look like they left the capital. I'm not sure. But it's weird. No matter how rich are you I don't think you could just leave to wherever you want bro. So what do they do now for a living? Please tell me, because I also want to be jobless but rich, just like them😂 Afterall. I'm lowering my rating from 6 to 4 out of 10. Because the ending is unbelievable

This is a good looking show with good art and animation. Story is also nice. OP of the episodes is good. And I loved the retro cars in the show. Art style is fitting for the story. Story is not very unique but mixes up two genres. I expected it to be a romance anime but not a fantasy anime where you fight monsters. My issue with the show is the title and what the show actually focuses on much of the time. There is just too much supernatural stuff going on in the anime that takes away from what the show should actually focus on according to the title. My Rating : 7/10 (Good)

The second season of this anime was honestly so good, just like I expected after falling in love with Season 1!2' Even though this season didn't have as many overt romantic moments as the first, the emotional depth and connection between the characters grew so beautifully. This season really focused more on Miyo's personal growth and power awakening, and oh my God -I LOVED that. Watching her become stronger, more confident, and start believing in herself was just... chef's kiss. You can really feel how much she and Kiyoka have matured both as individuals and as a couple The romance might be a little quieter this time, but it's deeper. It feels earned, heartfelt, and genuinely powerful. And the way they support and protect each other? Ughhh I want that kind of love. If you're looking for something meaningful, romantic, and emotionally rich, with moments that truly touch your heart - please watch this anime. It's not just a love story, it's a story about healing, strength, and quiet devotion. And trust me you'll LOVE it.❤️❤️❤️ totally recommended 9/10

✒🧟♂️More Monsters Manipulators & Mother In-law ssome minor spoilers In S2 Miyo must deal with her mother i/l's scorn. Kudo clearly finds his mother's behavior disgusting. Miyo stands alittle straighter and toughens upm just a tad, over the experience. Love grows. Kudo makes it clear that he treasures Miyo: “Miyo, I will accomplish the things that you cannot. What you can do yourself, I leave to you. And for anything that you struggled to do on your own, I will be there. That is how I want to live with you. If we combine our strengths together as a team, I believe that we could stand side by side in marriage.” He's strong, he's manly, he's stern and authoritative, but with Miyo he's loving and looks at her as an equal. He wants to see her reach her fullest potential. Now, /that's/ a love story. Miyo is beginning to accept his love. Politics plays a big role in MHM. The Royal family needs powered people but is wary of them. Trust is the rarest commodity. In S2, Miyo starts to become entrenched in politics and becomes more acquainted with the royal family. Takaihito, the prince, does raise questions. He seems gender fluid. Per a Redditer - “He’s a male. He may not look like it because of how good-looking he is. He’s absolutely beautiful. When I first saw him in the anime, I thought that he was a woman at first, but no…” The prince attends a girls‘ slumber party in S2 and refers to himself as “one of the girls,” but he was only there to gather intel, and that was apparently a joke. At least the prince seems more sensible than the king. The crown fears the Saimori family most of all. Their powers of dream manipulation and time control are truly terrifying. There are Saimoris who believe they would be more suitable rulers. The king is right to be concerned, but fear is the path to the dark side. Miyo has to face down a powerful family member and she must begin invading dreams. The king wants to utilize Miyo, and he REALLY wants to keep an eye on her, so she and Kudo are moved to the palace. The palace is no safer than the outside world, though. All the while, they are fighting grotesqueries and fighting other people - the REAL monsters. Miyo has hidden depths that she's just beginning to explore in S2. Let's just say that Kudo had better not get her angry… With S3 announced, the story will go on. Will we see a wedding? Will we ever get to see the actual Happy Marriage? I'll be staying tuned to find out.

If you enjoy a romance story that centers around magic and focus is off main characters at times,, (covers both seasons 1 & 2) U^ﻌ^Uノ hi, hope everyone is well,, Before I mention anything, I just want to say that I'm not perfect in any way or an expert at reviewing anime. I can't imagine all the hard work it took to create this anime. I have respect for everyone involved in the process. While there are some aspects I don't agree with, I don't look down on anyone who enjoys those parts. I hope I don't give off that impression and ruin anyone's enjoyment of the anime. Just want to share my honest thoughts. Thank you for any time : ) *I will mention some of the characteristics I like about the main characters. So, if you intend for that to be a mystery, go down to the last paragraph ദ്ദി It's on me for not looking into this beforehand. But for me personally, I can't really get into the parts of the story where there are fights against demons/enemies with magic, use of magic in general, and political drama within the village & imperial army. I don't mind supernatural abilities and ideas related to fantasy. But for this anime specifically, I'm not personally interested in the story for this topic or how it's displayed in the anime. The scenes involving these topics also tend to be slow-paced, which I don't mind if the content interests me. I also wanted more of the focus to be on the romance and main characters. The magic aspect of the story doesn't entirely take away the focus from Miyo and Kiyoka, but I personally feel it does at times. But I understand that supernatural abilities and the imperial army are a big part of the story, so it's natural for the focus to not be on them. Despite this, there are still parts of the anime that I enjoy. One aspect I enjoy from this anime is the relationship between Miyo and Kiyoka, especially the pureness within their relationship and how they treat each other. I like that Kiyoka is gentle and respectful with Miyo. And I also like that he looks after her, encourages her to not be afraid or assures Miyo when she feels nervous/doubtful (‾ʖ̫‾). As for Miyo, it's nice that she is always kind and does her best to support Kiyoka. Another aspect I enjoy is Miyo's character ✧. I like how she works really hard despite facing difficulties and still shows kindness even when it’s not reciprocated. It's also motivating to see her proceed with doing something despite feeling afraid or being out of her comfort zone (speaking up for something she dislikes or doing a dangerous task). These qualities are really inspiring and admirable for me personally, especially since I struggle with fear and need a lot of motivation XD. Miyo is also a character I can resonate with which plays a part in continuing this anime and why she's become one of my favorite characters. I relate to her habits of apologizing for everything, frequently feeling nervous or afraid, and being shy or embarrassed around someone I like. It's nice to find a character that hits so close to home. The character designs and artwork in general are also really beautiful ✧ Overall, I enjoy this anime because of Miyo, the relationship between the main characters, and art. While it's not an anime I can personally rewatch due to the magical and political storyline, I don't mind revisiting the moments between Kiyoka and Miyo XD. I would recommend this anime, if you don’t mind political themes and a magic-focused narrative where the main couple's story isn't always in the spotlight. It's also important to consider the slow pace, admirable qualities of main characters, sweet representation of pure love and how kindness is important in a relationship. However, if this is not something you're into then maybe this anime is not for you. Maybe you don't mind the topics I'm personally not into. If this sounds like something you would enjoy, I hope you like it. And I’m sure there are people who really love this anime regardless of what I mentioned and that’s cool too ദ്ദി. Just want to share my honest opinions. That concludes my review. Thank you for everyone’s time. Have a good day ଳ ଳ Also open to any feedback or constructive criticism. Thank you,,

Aaaaahhh, I'm so sad to see them go!!! I hope we get a third season ASAP or I'm gonna flip. Honestly this season has been leaps and bounds better than the first! Tons of lore explained, more world-building, more drama, mysteries around the Usuba's explained and lots of character developments from both Miyo and Kudo. It really mealts my heart away how far Miyo has come from when we first met her in S1. YOU GO GIRL!!! I really enjoyed the lighthearted and comedy moments between Miyo and Kudo. You can truly feel how much they love each other, even if they sometimes struggle to express it because of how they are. But thanks to Miyo’s in-laws (Kudo’s parents) she’s become more determined to grow into the kind of woman who can stand proudly beside the man she loves. I also really liked Fuyu (Kudo’s mom), even though she came off as harsh and cold at first. Deep down, she genuinely wants what’s best for the two of them, even if it means acting like a bit of a demon mother-in-law. In-laws, am I right? The animation has remained consistently strong throughout the season, which has been really nice to see. If I had to pick one thing that stood out in the animation compared to Season 1, it would be Miyo. Ever since she started growing as a character, she’s become more beautiful, like her personality and aura have really brightened up. And let's not forget, those eyes of hers are absolutely stunning. Overall, I really enjoyed the season, despite the release issues with Netflix. From what I’ve heard, there are only about three volumes left, which cover Miyo and Kudo’s wedding, some side stories, and a new arc. This season honestly felt like the climax of the story, so I imagine there’s not too much left to go. I'm really hoping for a finale that shows Miyo and Kudo grown old and happy together, surrounded by their children and grandchildren, maybe in a touching family photo or a peaceful scene that captures the life they built together. Damn it, I'm tearing up already 😭 How I rank (This is just my opinion): (Inspired by Huang-Teizan) 10 - Bendicion de Dios 9 - This is what PEAK looks like people!! 8 - Weekend killer! 7 - Good 6 - Enjoyable 5 - Either Echii or just enough to get by 4 - I'm just here to find out how it ends. 3 - Don´t bother 2 - "Are you related to Rent a Girlfriend?" 1 - "Even a Hentai has a better story than you!" 0 - Incinerate it!
