umm really not sure how to feel about this anime tbh. It has a good premise, some plot and decent character development. It is definitely absolutely not a rom-com, there is barely and romance anyways. The show is definitely aimed for an older audience, there's a lot of nuance in it. I wouldn't recommend it if you want a light watch but it is interesting. Definitely your cup of tea if you like dark romance. Very unique story, personally I do hope for s2 not sure if it'll get one though. The art-style was an absolute BANGER tho! I honestly watched it, at first at least, because I really liked the art-style. It was really unique and the fight scenes were well animated too.

How should I put this. Some people will enjoy it, some will not. To 'Recommended' is to have expectations that a series will sell well. Although I enjoyed this anime a lot, with a heavy heart I must rate this as 'mixed feelings' because I believe it will not be as popular as other high rating animes within the romance genre. Again, personally I ENJOYED it! Based on the online reviews, I can see a lot of controversies regarding this anime, especially on the 'romance' and 'morals' aspects of it. So in my opinion, if you were to dive into this piece of artwork, you must enter with open eyes and prepare yourself as what you will be watching is not the typical heartwarming shouju romance. Treat it as pure entertainment, with bits of darkness that includes unethical morals. After all, this is fiction. In no way should a person believe any of the acts within the anime is permissible nor encouraged. So please, I'll commit toaster bath if I see kids making thirst traps of these characters on TikTok cause I SWEAR TO GOD 💢 Why did I enjoy it?: First of all, the Artstyle caught my attention. I was awed as I studied the artwork within the anime. It is indeed unique. It felt very familiar to me as it felt like I was reading Manwha (Korean Comic). The art is very similar! The intensity and dramatic effects depicted in the anime are common in Manwha, or at least the majority of what I have read. I think the Author's choice was brilliant! That's why the whole insanity, immensity, Yakuza intensity, paired with the art choice was brilliant. Although.. would I consider this as 'dark anime'? Honestly, it's not that dark. The moral dilemmas are horrible nonetheless. But the violence is quite mediocre. To had introduced this as romance was probably a mistake, but then again it is centered around romance so can't really change the tags. If they had introduced this anime as Psychological Studies, would the anime garnered different opinions instead? The chemistry or supposedly traditional drama surrounding yakuza culture is always an interesting topic to venture into. Especially for foreign viewers. We can't quite pinpoint which is reality and which is fiction. Perhaps the lack of understanding is exactly the cause of heat within the community. The anime Characters? Personalities? Character Development? I'll quote above: Insanity, Immensity, Yakuza Intensity. As we ponder whether the male lead, who is not quite there in his head, is capable of love or is it infatuation? And the female lead who holds many mysteries (which I feel like I could guess the plot twists). The world of the Yakuza; Violence, Power, Obsession. If you have similar taste in anime like mine, I really recommend it! But if you have a weak stomach, no need to give yourself an ulser. Anyways, take care and stay safe~!

Overall great anime, realistic in yakuza families and their inner relations. Unrealistic in fights and power some individuals hold due to their connections etc. (plot armor really) but it is an anime in the end. It is exploring the worldview and emotions of a psychopathic male lead and there is definitely character development. I don't get people that say there is none. Not a masterpiece and don't expect too much depth, just good anime. I wanted to write this review because too many people shit on it. Don't miss out at the expense of idiotic woke culture. Western "morals" are not universal and not everyone has to live abiding by them.

(Spanish review below). I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. I started watching the anime because I thought it would be interesting to watch, but at the same time I had no expectations and I wanted to watch something entertaining. And it was! I really enjoyed watching it every Monday while it was on. It was like watching a romcom full of drama and lots of funny scenes. I don't recommend taking it seriously and much less expecting the romance to develop. If you're expecting a romance anime, you're not going to find it. It does have certain situations that build up the romance, but it's not something that happens in the anime, nor do I think it's close to happening in the rest of the story. The same goes for the +16 part of the anime. There is blood when they fight, but there are no big scenes of violence, nor explicit sexual scenes. There is nothing that is graphic. It is quite soft in that sense. I really liked the characters, especially Yoshino. I liked that she didn't go to extremes. She could be feminine and vulnerable, but also assert her limits and defend herself or others. She's also quite intelligent and proactive, something I appreciate because I prefer those types of characters, especially the femenine ones. I couldn't stand Kirishima most of the time. I was annoyed by everything about him, mainly that he doesn't care about anything and has that annoying little smile on his face. The only good thing I'll say about him is that, although he is a manipulator, he respects Yoshino's boundaries and those of other people in general. The drawing style seemed original to me, although it's not one of my favorites. The animation did seem pretty mediocre to me. It's not the worst in the world, but it's far from good. Sometimes they looked like robots walking. Apparently there are problems with the publication of the manga and it's not known if or when it will continue. Personally, I would watch a second season because I had a great time watching the first one, but it's not a story that caught my attention, and I'm not dying to know how it continues. I recommend watching it if you want to see something light and entertaining. ... A veces parecían robots caminando. Recomiendo verlo si quieren ver algo ligero y entretenido.

I hated the first episode, really, but somehow I kept watching every week and it grew on me. Why I liked it: mainly the art and character design, more realistic portrayal of yakuza, strong female lead, tsundere male lead, convincing chemistry between the main characters, Osaka accents, entertaining. Why some might not like it: violence, trivializes several criminal acts, complicated to follow yakuza business, male lead really starts out badly and the first episode is designed to be shocking and repulsive (they do try to wash it off a bit later, but many fundamentally wrong things happen). I guess one reason to give it a shot is that it's a very different (I'd say even unique) romance shoujo, and studio Deen really did a good job in terms of art and production quality.

I was genuinely disappointed with The Yakuza’s Fiancé. The animation was already weak, but I kept watching because I believed the story would eventually make up for it. Unfortunately, that never happened. Across 12 episodes, the plot felt directionless and poorly written, as if the series relied on shock value instead of meaningful storytelling. What made it worse was the wasted potential—there were interesting ideas here, but none of them were developed properly. The characters were another major letdown. Most of them felt unstable or poorly explored, including Yoshino herself, who lacked real growth despite being positioned as a strong lead. Kirishima remained chaotic without any real consequences, while other side characters added little to the narrative. The only exception was Shouma. He was the only character who showed genuine development and self-awareness. Despite having the capacity to become dangerous, he actively tried to stay grounded, making him the most realistic and relatable character in the series. In the end, the story failed to deliver any emotional payoff. The ending felt empty and unsatisfying, leaving the impression that the audience was simply led on without a proper resolution. I would rate this series 2 out of 5 stars, solely because of Shouma. Without him, there would be very little worth remembering. This is one of those shows that had promise but ultimately felt like a complete waste of time.

I read the manga before (though not till the end and years ago) so i knew what i was getting into. I quite liked it and will probably even rewatch. The animation was WORTH looking at even if it was sometimes kind of stiff? i haven't watched anime in some time soooo it may also be just that. but imo the ML sometimes looked like the standing emoji. God, the FL was GORGEOUS!!! AHHH PITY THERE WAS NO SMUT. and her CLOTHES?! She is a queen. take me instead frrr. I loved ML´s eyes tho let's be honest they looked dead most of the time xdd (he was gorgeous also, and that one scene when they looked together at the bad guy? on my knees for them) and well plotwise, hmm. there was some but it felt hollow in some areas. i would enjoy it more if they decided to focus on one thing (the gangs or the relationship) because now it was a mix of things that didnt really push them as a person forward. (i still enjoyed watching them but i was waiting for that one scene in the opening AND IT DIDNT COME so sad) and with what i remember from manga i think they mellowed the ML down a bit cause i remember putting it down like nah this is nasty i won't read this and that didnt happen in here. But it may be just my change in taste lolol.

I definitely can’t say I didn’t like it—I devoured the series, I really enjoyed it, but without appreciating it for what it actually offers. It’s about two teenagers who are connected, directly or indirectly, to criminal organizations; they suffer because of this connection and find themselves in this contractual relationship. Even just that makes everything seem unhealthy and sad for the protagonists, but it gets worse when we’re introduced to Kirishima. A selfish and cruel masochist who lives only for his own amusement, consciously ignoring everything related to the well-being of those around him. He is deeply detestable. Just when you get the impression that things are improving, that he might change, the plot takes a sudden turn and brings us right back to the beginning. He never questions himself, and even his feelings for Yoshino seem forced. He isn’t in love; he desires her because she doesn’t let him walk all over her—she doesn’t react the way he expects her to, which amuses him. While this interest isn’t particularly annoying at first, it eventually becomes disappointing as the story progresses, because Yoshino is a rather likable girl. She isn’t the sweet, innocent, pure girl who whines about her fate. On the contrary, she has a strong personality, a big mouth, and reactions that make her entertaining. She doesn’t give in to the situation so easily, and that turns Kirishima into a total pushover. The situation is reversed, and it’s actually kind of fun to see a guy being led around by the nose like that. But I really get the impression that this is the only positive aspect of these 12 episodes. Everything surrounding their relationship is supposed to justify their growing closeness, but I don’t think it works. On the contrary, it feels rather sloppy, and the artwork doesn’t help. The animation in the opening and ending sequences is better than that of the series itself… In the end, I just felt like I was reading a bad Wattpad novel: it’s entertaining, so that’s not all bad, but it’s clearly far from being a memorable read.

It's so good show I love every single moment of it I love how the main character isn't your usual cute girl and the boy with two face The sound effects was good and the opening and ending songs also were good The animation was clean even in the fight scene Character development was good too maybe the only problem is that it didn't adopt everything in the manga Genuinely it was good I think most people will enjoy it and it's available in Crunchyroll so it's easy to find And it's Short only 12 episode with no season 2

The title had me bracing for another cringey anime, but honestly, the plot surprised me with more depth than I expected. That said, watching it feels a bit like being edged—constantly turned on and off—because every character is weirdly toxic in their own ways, like they’re juggling multiple personalities. But don’t get me wrong—I’m also fucked in my own ways, so I found their toxic dynamics weirdly fascinating. In fact, it felt pretty realistic, considering these are yakuza characters who’d naturally be messed up in the head. However, I still think that it was a fun watch overall. The story keeps pulling me back in, making me want to dig deeper into the lore and see what kind of war is about to break out. More than anything, I’m hoping for some major character development, because that could really elevate the whole experience.

This is another one of those romantic comedies that either is under someone's radar or just your first time hearing this as you're reading this review. With a title like this, you might be thinking, "Oh, is this another generic rom-com that you'd see on any other streaming service?" Well, if you're asking what I'd say about this individual anime. Yes and no. Yes, because it is certainly another generic kind of romantic comedy with our two main leads, Kirishima and Yoshino, who are arranged together thanks to Yoshino's grandfather, hate each other at the start and later on, they start to get to love one another despite the flaws that this anime has. And I also said no because there is more to this rom-com than how you'd see from past projects. If I'd say the short story about this, I would call this being a little bit of sweet with a tad more dash of spice to its premise with a bit of sour in the middle. By sour, I mean it as there are some flaws that I could find in this. First of all, the characters are fine. Yoshino and Kirishima are our main couple going through high school, go figure of how the generic rom-com touches on, bicker to one another, getting to know one another while getting though some trouble that get in there way. Yoshino, being the granddaughter of a member of a yakuza, discovers that Kirishima had taken over the same yakuza that his grandfather runs. Yes, this has already been depicted as an arranged marriage thanks to Yoshino's grandfather. You could make the argument that they have a toxic relationship, which I won't disagree on. Unpopular opinion, though, I do think they were meant for one another. I mean, Yoshino is a bit of a hothead from where she was raised and Kirishima is brutal when it comes to being involved with the yakuza that his relatives run. Yes, they bicker, but at the least they do warm up as the series goes and get to know each other bit-by-bit. You could say that it's a good kind of toxic love since they are both into trouble whether they're together or not. At the end, each of them does end with a bit of a bloodbath. No gore, though. Plenty of blood from the violence that's shown in this. For the side characters, you have Shouma, who is Yoshino's childhood friend and was adopted by her grandfather. You have Nao, who used to date Kirishima and is now a friend to Yoshino despite being an online celebrity. You have various members of the yakuza that Kirishima runs with and Yoshino's grandfather. I will admit I like the grandfather a lot more. Shouma is also like a hothead, especially for being with the same family that he was taken under. For Nao, not so much since she felt like a throwaway character despite having to date Kirishima and also another character named Ozu, who has an abusive attitude that got himself in a heated situation with Kirishima once Nao and even Yoshino got themselves into trouble. They're not terrible characters. They work well when they interact with Kirishima and Yoshino to keep the plot going, especially for the voice actors they were given. I haven't seen the English Dub which got announced. However, I think this anime is one-and-done for me upon writing this review. They even help keep the story interesting with its fight scenes. Again, plenty of violence to go around that can keep you entertained if you're a fan of it. I know I am since I grew up with loads of those. This anime is unique due to the animation style it has. I love the background that surrounds the aesthetic of the series itself, giving it a mature tone like you'd see with the characters. Speaking of the characters, the designs of the character are eccentric. Well, some traits I'm not too much of a fan of like I'm not too big on Nao's eyes. Some of the clothing ranging from unique to out of style. I think the facial expressions that Yoshino makes feel like they belong in a cartoon. You could make an argument that those facial expressions do work when it comes to romantic comedies. However, I feel like they still work but it's a romantic comedy that's more on the sweet side and not this. This anime is different as it's more spicy than sweet. Matter of fact, there is an anime that balances the sweet and spicy moments and it has to go to Toradora. It's not Toradora but its own. Yet I do stand that the facial expression just doesn't fit well for this anime in particular. You are free to disagree with me from that standpoint. That's just my opinion. Lastly, this might be a pet peeve for me on this one but I'm not a fan of seeing their eyes in full view behind the hair that covers them, or even partly, if you look at them. I couldn't help but think of it as a designer flaw or an animation flaw. Sure, you don't see the entire eye, yet it feels odd to see their eyes blending into their hair to look like that. I do think this anime has potential on its own for being a spicy sweet anime, yet on some occasions, it just turned out to be good in the end. Not great, but good. It's decently paced. Although, it felt like the final episode was a tad rushed with what was going on along with what was going on with the yakuza Kirishima is with after his fight with Ozu along with Yoshino. I do like Yoshino and Kirishima as a couple. The side characters are fine. In the end, this feels like a one-and-done for me. There is also some great humor in this, if you're looking for a good laugh. If you're a fan of romantic comedies, with a mature tone or not, this is worth checking out. Keep in mind that this is also a violent one. I'm gonna give this series seven Kirishima looking down on you with a smile out of ten. 7/10.

Sorry, but the anime doesn't have any character development. At least in the first season, and we don't know yet if there will be any 2nd season since the manga has been on hiatus since 2024. I won't recommend it to many people since it has explicit scenes, especially when the male lead insists on loving the girl but has been sleeping with multiple girls, even he left from a date just to sleep with another girl. If you have second lead syndrome, then you can watch it... especially when the second lead is the girl's boy besty/ childhood friend. But even the Second lead doesn't have much development, nor does he confess, nor does he show interests, nor does he want to let go. The last episode didn't do justice, the audience is confused. But, still I finished it cause I loved the art style also the animation style. The psychopathic behaviour of the Male lead also intrigued me time to time (Massive hatts off to the VA for that actually). Also, I liked Shouma-the second lead. Since Yoshino will choose kirishima i will choose shouma for myself. It's the reels that brought me to this anime since some scenes are really good. Overall, The anime is great in tiktok reals, but average in anime. If just watching yakuza thrills you you can watch it.

Papa, I want more movie! This show was so good that I immediately hyperfixated on it. I rewatched it like 3 times and reread the manga twice within a week. If you love toxic romance, where the ML treats the FL so well you forget he's a criminal and a cheater, this is the story for you. Honestly, if I were kidnapped by someone like Kirishima and he treated me like he treats Yasuno, heck, I'd come down with Stockholm syndrome pretty quickly.
Loving this show sucks because (kinda spoiler warning?) the manga is on an indefinite hiatus, so we aren't getting more content anytime soon... I literally can't get enough of it.
Twilight, but with Yakuza, is how this shows appears to come off, as Yoshino and Kirishima , two grandkids of their Yakuza families are thrown into a relationship much akin to Nisekoi, except they aren't rivals and its out in the open. This was a series is an emotional rollercoaster that you can't tell if you want to stay on it or jump off, the initial excitement slowly sinks down and then rises high up again towards the end as you're left asking "Is this good?" Characters - Yoshino is an awesome female protagonist and is written so well that I just wanted to see her more and more, and she has a fiery attitude to match her red hair, while Kirishima comes off more as a 16 year olds fanfic insert OC, he is supposed to be a masochist but then constantly seems to flip flop back and forth til the very end, honestly while him being "unstable" is not only part of his character, but lets face it turn on for certain viewers, it's done so poorly, but perhaps that may be why I liked Yoshino so much cause she was so busy being the only "adult in the room", and having to fix his messes, that when she gets angry and hits you with that look and her golden eyes are glowing it was just awesome. I would have given this a higher review but honestly Kirishima drags it down soo poorly that it took a major hit. Story - It's refreshing to see, towards the end especially, two individuals who are thrown into a political like relationship such as this, and even how it is handled by not only them, but their grandfathers as well. It suffers as it feels like there is more as to why they are setting these two up, that the author just hasn't fully explained or laid enough bread crumbs to have us follow, regardless, it is still a different take and the characters don't play into old worn out troupes because of it. Animation - Beautifully colored, but it could have done with some variation as a few of the characters almost seemed identical, including Yoshino's cousin and the other lead girl who takes part in the later half, that when they first arrived I had to double check they weren't the same and were indeed different people. Also for the few fight scenes that are here, while they aren't going to go above and beyond anything it was nice to see actual motion and not just quick cuts to save on budget. Also the closing credit's didn't need to go as detailed as it did for the situation where someone skips them to get to the new episode, but it was probably the reason why I watched thru every time. Music/Sound/Voice work - I wish I had more to say but the instrumentals seemed basic, with no particular pieces coming out that I'll remember fondly, the VA's (English) I feel could have leaned more into the fact that this was supposed to be a "country" girl going to live in the big city kind of vibe, the times I switch to Japanese were good, but nothing phenomenal, it was sort of a "Got what you paid for" middle ground where I wouldn't ask for my money back as they did their job. Genre - The political, enemies to lovers, setting has been done before, and this had just enough of a spin to see it stand out, with much of the credit coming to Yoshino who again, really carried this story and was not simply being a constant damsel in distress, or having to rely on others. Overall it was a fun watch, but I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea. It's definitely a chocolate or vanilla ice cream type of situation, that at the end of the day it's still ice cream, but for those where the flavor really matters, perhaps you would be better suited elsewhere

even tho the ml is highkey insufferable the way he ended up yearning for yoshino so bad honestly saved this show from its other weak plot points. the yakuza plot was too convoluted like literally every ep something happens and gets resolved so theres no suspense, it was a snoozefest besides the park scene w/ the hot mysterious guy, and the art style is kinda chopped, mls hair looks like he was electrocuted, and all the yakuza guys tattoos r so ugly😭✌.. but the sprinkles of romance did keep me watching despite ml being a hoe. his ran thru ass pissed me off even if they werent dating, but i get that the point of his character is to be a toxic red flag so you can see him become weak for the girl he really likes. he gets so pathetic for her in the last ep and its my fav scene in the whole show, which kinda made pushing thru the annoying parts worth it like yess boy beg for her back they gave shoma wayy too much positive screen time tho and it made the ml even more unlikeable by comparison. but we all know who yoshino is choosing at the end so she can leave that fine emo mafia boy for me👅! overall an okay watch and def not for everyone. finished on an unsatisfying cliffhanger w/ no plans of season 2 and an unfinished manga on hiatus so im not rly that inspired to continue this story. it will have to find me again when the author comes back if ever i guess

I was hitting the random button one night and bumped into something with the Seinen tag that wasn't this one and thought to myself "Its been a while since I watched a Seinen" so I filtered Seinen and found myself on this one. Not gonna lie this is my first venture into a Yakuza themed show and so I have no idea how this holds up to whatever standard there might be for quality but I did enjoy this short little experience. It's ending made me want more which is always a good sign to me. You only need to know a little bit of what Yakuza means to get a general idea of what this is gonna be about. If you don't, then without any spoilers, expect some gang references, tattoos, drugs, violence, and hinting at other adult themes without them truly making it to the screen. The story itself is a little all over the place but that can't be helped given what it is and it being on TV. I'm sure the manga is more fleshed out by now since it's been running since 2017. This was an enjoyable dive for something I found on a whim. I do happen to like the two main stays. They both earn their place even if it took one much longer to do so then the other. Shouma is probably my favorite character of the cast and I worry about him being slated for a dark fate at some point in the stories future. I always feel a bit bad when my reviews are kinda all over the place without much expansion on a show and I feel like it happens more often on shows like this which I guess makes it less bad for me but still... If you are looking for a plot that is based on something solid and then branches all over the place because there is so many little things happening within that atmosphere with a touch of violence, and comedy I think you would enjoy this one.
