Magic was not what I expected from a show called “Bad Leaf” but ya know what it’s pretty damn awesome. The idea, storytelling, and characters are all really cool and well done, but one particular fight was just a liiiiiittttle bit goofy. All the others were fine however. However, I do have one issue which drops this from a 9 to a 7, and that is how sexualized it is. Big breasts and cleavage are to be expected from an adult anime, but with every female character being grossly over sexualized to the point of a child-looking female being dressed TWICE as a stripper is why I don’t plan on recommending this show to many people. If you don’t care about female characters fighting in underwear rather than armour then you’ll love this; otherwise, you’ve been warned.

As someone who hasn't read the manga i can not give a review to how faithful it is to the source material. Art: Overall the animation and art is above average and is definitely not something to complain about and the 3D that is used at times is not that noticeable and blends nicely with the rest of the art. Story: Some negatives, The beginning feels very rushed and to action packed, the first few episode have no space to slow down and recover from all the action and the story feels incredibly rushed like they didn't have enough episodes and had to shove the story into the 12 episode format. The whole season suffers from a lack of "calm down" moments tho not as bad as in the beginning. Some positives, The story actually feels really engaging after the rough beginning, at around half the season it gets hard to stop watching and it really makes up for the bad start but the very end of the season suffers from the same issue as the beginning. Some negatives again, in the very end in the last episode it feels like they tried to cram 2 episode worth of content into half a episode which really messes with pacing and feels incredibly rushed. Characters: Overall the characters feel natural for the type of genre, tho it can be a bit cheesy at times but o well. But i feel like some charachters don't get enough screen time, especially PeePi. PeePi is proabably the shallowest character out of the main characters for some reason, to me it doesn't make sense because she really feels like she should be a bigger part of the story but she is always just there not really doing much. It really baffles me as she is one the first characters we are introduced to. Everyone else gets ample screentime. Overall: In spite of the shortcomings i truly believe the good parts of the series make up for it's shortcomings. I recommend it. Overall rating - 8/10
