As a fun of the original series I loved this movie, but some things needs to be said: 1. The animation as always use a lot of 3DCGI, and as aways they are not good. 2. They make the adaptation of some parts of the light novel, but don't give a good explication of this parts, so for the ones that didn't read the novel, they are not going to understand everything. 3. The fight scenes are short and not so good they rushed to do this scenes. 4. As everyone knows this arc talk about the Yotsuba succession, and talk about explicit incest, so for the ones that take this to serious, I don't recommended this movie and this anime hehe. 5. As said before, they rushed the novel to do this movie, so a lot of things don't get a proper explication or anything else, so try to read the LN after or before the movie. 6. They choose LisA for the theme music again, the music is good, but only this. 7. I recommended that you go to the cinema and watch this movie, if you go, you are going to receive a Mahouka UFO interception LN (I watched it on TOHO Cinemas, I'm not sure about the others), maybe only in Japan, but thee movie is good to watch too, not only because of this. 8. Final score Art. 8 History. 7 Adaptation. 7 Music. 7 3DCGI. 5 Action scenes. 7 General. 8 (because I'm a fun) Sorry if something is difficult to understand or if it's wrong, I'm not a English speaker.

I'm not going to comment on the wincest, that ship is sailing. However, I'm going to lean on the technical and story aspects of the movie. First, some context for this review. I'm familiar that this story is a light novel series, but I have been reading the story as a manga. This particular story, the fight scenes were not high stakes as the ones in the prior seasons or arcs of the anime. The real drama happens in the main house and Maya's revelations regarding the nature of Tatsuya and Miyuki's relationship. The animation is above the quality of the seasonal anime, as expected of a theatrical release. Notwithstanding the CGI animation integrated, the backgrounds and setting design are beyond that I could expect coming from reading the manga which was mostly talking heads in panels. It really looked good on the big screen, giving me a better sense of immersion than the manga could ever could. I really like how this is a better adaptation of the story than the manga, because I remember reading this arc as rather nondescript, save for the emotional payload of the revelations near the end. I really like the flashback sequence at the start of the movie when the Yotsuba clan headed by Maya's father virtually decapitated all the important magicians of the nation of Dahan in retaliation for her abduction and abuse at the hands of the Kunlunfang Institute. I now know Tatsuya gets his aura farming genes from his grandfather. This is a great arc to be done as theatrical movie, it features both Tatsuya's origin, and the point zero of future arcs where the author has stopped pretending that the story is not an incest fantasy. There's a massive change in the status quo, Tatsuya's extended family can no longer be assholes in his presences, unlike before they were doing it in front of him. I watched it in the cinema, primarily because I'm unsure who holds the streaming rights. If it's not showing in Netflix for the next two years, I might as well watch it now. Otherwise, I would rather wait for streaming if I did know on which platform it will end up.
