Once a loser, always a loser. This season really showed who Rudeus really is. Throughout the seasons, he developed as a character, not always sitting at home and being scared to go outside, but working to become stronger and being the financial provider for his family. Even when facing misfortune, his situation always turned out to be fortuitous. Even though I despise how, even when he messes up, he doesn't get punished for it (cheating on his pregnant wife and getting rewarded with a second wife), I think this builds up to show him how a wonderful and happy family might look, that he cherishes with his life and wants to protect them no matter the cost. Then turning point 4 starts and reveals who Rudeus really is at his core. He made great improvements in some aspects, but at his core he is still the same person as he was in his previous life. Once something really bad happens that he can't overcome with his blessed magic powers (or sleeping with some women), he falls back to his roots and becomes the pathetic, disgusting person he once was. I believe the reason for this is that nothing and nobody forces him to overcome his sins; his life has some ups and downs, but after all, it turned out for the better. Because of this, he could ignore his past life and the actions he took, since he didn't face any consequences for his previous life. Now, after turning point 4 happened, even though he didn't start the tragedy, everything after that was his fault, and because he really never improved as a person, all his ideals and morals were thrown away. I would say that he even became a worse person then before, not just because of his greater capabilities in being able to do evil, but getting to comfortable with his happy life and not having to face consequences. Good times create weak men. The real character development only starts now (I hope), where he needs to overcome his past personality to protect what he really loves, or else... I do hope to see in the future where he confesses who he really is to his wives, and confesses what he did (e.g., jerking off to his 10-year-old niece). Overall, a very good season that builds up for something big in the future. But come on, Rudeus, you were told not to trust everything he says, and the very next thing you do is trust his words to kill a certain someone??? Watching a dumb ass character hurts really sometimes. Please be my goat Nanahoshi, safe and happy.
