The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom

The pacing of the story is great—episodes fly by before you know it, making for a fantastic viewing experience. As a dual-narrative story, the secondary plotline is handled well, with seamless switching and clean integration between the two lines. The cast is another strong point: the protagonists are multi-dimensional and extremely likable. Their interactions feel completely natural and often bring a smile to your face. However, the villains are a bit weakly developed, so character clashes aren't really the main focus of the show. On the audio side, the opening and ending themes have a relaxed rhythm that fits the overall tone of the anime perfectly. That said, a few voice acting performances are so distinct that they occasionally pull you out of the experience.

It has a simple story, but the direction is very balanced, making it the best anime of 2025. I've watched it five times over. The final episode is the climax, but for me the climax was the scene where her master and her sister talk. Pay attention to their expressions and voices. The performances of both voice actors are also top-notch. Is the story unique? If it was predictable, did you enjoy it anyway because you like this genre/set-up? yes unique, Do you think the art style is fitting for the story? good, Were the characters well-rounded? Did they have flaws and strengths, or were they unusually strong/smart/stupid? yes, Did the characters react to situations and events in a realistic way? yes Do you think others will enjoy/dislike this series, even if you didn't? Why? enjoy

An anime about a saint that has been treated very badly by a lot of people that should have actually cared for her a lot, but because that's what she always knew she didn't find it strange, ultimately being sold to another place in which she starts finding out about how life actually should be and how she should have been treated. At least that's half of the story, the other half follows her little sister that is still left in the place the saint was sold from and her finding out about what happened to her big sister and wanting to take revenge... which tbh, it is the better and more fun to watch part of the story. The story is finished in this season, and for what I've read online, it covered until the light novels ended as well. It was okayish at first, but near the end it kinda started picking up the pace and reached the rushing pace and just doing the most generic stuff you could imagine. I started yawning quite a few times per episode because of how generic and stupid they did the actions and what should have been the height of the conflict... A big letdown... Quite a few parts of the story felt like a fairy tale made for children, like the main villain is clearly a villain and acts in the most obvious ways a villain would, but stupid af too and very childish-like villain, which really put a damp on the whole story line... like, is that really who s the villain of the story? The one that made all the bad decisions that lead to the conflicts and such? Literally a child acting up... Also quite a few perfect moments, a bit too many, and especially at the end there was stuff pulled out from nothing with no buildup or not even explained that "saved the day"... It really showed that they wanted to finish this story in this season, whatever it takes. The main characters were pretty okayish, especially the little sister, I enjoyed watching her the most, more than the big sister which is kinda the FMC of the story... Quite a bit of character development for them which was done decently. The other characters I would say were fine too, but they were there mostly to highlight and make the changes possible for the 2 sisters. Story: 6 -- Okayish at first, even though a bit childish here and there, but towards the end, it just started to zoom to finish the story in one season... Art: 8 -- Really liked the art, especially the backgrounds. Loved the colors and such, gave me a very calming/relaxed feeling Music: 9 -- Liked the OP quite a bit. Good songs overall Characters: 7 -- Some too childishly presented for my liking, and some of their discussions and interactions felt really meh... Enjoyment: 7 -- It was fine at first, but the more it went, the more boring it felt, and the last episodes were very bad imho. Overall: 7 Right now it has 7.26 from 34.207 votes Ranked #3114 Popularity #2796 Members 73,109 as of 24/09/2025. I wouldn't really recommend it, only if you really want to watch this genre of anime and really don't have many left to watch or something. It is a happy story though, so there's that, and it is finished, but some aspects of the story which are quite important are presented or done too bad or childish to be enjoyed fully, at least for me they were...

I just want to say you should not watch this expecting a cute romance. I also think what little romance subplot this show did try and force in should have been taken out. That being said I'm the last person to complain about a show having LESS romance in it than expected but to have the best experience, you should not expect romance. I was originally expecting something more similar to The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent, which Does have a well done romance. But this one had a lot more politics, was focused mainly on overcoming trauma and abuse more than anything else. I think it was fairly good and I will be reading the manga if not the light novel as well. I think this anime could have been even better but for what it was I really liked it and do recommend it to anyone who is interested in the story of overcoming trauma, sibling bonds, and also just magic and pretty dresses. Mostly I thiink it was too short and would have benefitted from twice the air time and some "filler" episodes of Philia just learning to have fun. It really would have made her healing journey more believable and less hurried, and it also could have allowed for the romance to be properly developed instead of just kind of forced. No Spoilers but also if there IS a believable romance in this show, to me, its not Philia's. That's all I'll say. Most likely the only ones reading this are my friends so okay please watch this love you byyeeeee <3

This show has so much potential, especially compared to some other anime in this demographic. I haven't read the manga but I believe the 12 episode format messed the narration up. We follow our main character Phillia who's the greatest saint of all. Despite that people of her country, even her own family hates and envies her. Which in itself is an interesting premise. On top of that we've got her beautiful, cheerful little sister who is beloved by everyone, though not as strong as Phillia. What I was expecting was that this cute sister Mia would be one of the main antagonists or at least the wicked character making Phillia's life even worse. This show has kind of broke away from this repeated plot, which I really appreciate. We've got a handful of other interesting characters, such as her "aunt" or the first prince of Parnacorta. However during the 12 episodes, so much has happened that we never truly got to know them. To the point where I don't even understand what the blond exorcist and her white hair guy were doing following Phillia. There are so many subplots and characters that need explaining that it's a little overwhelming for how short this anime is. I can tell that the author really loves their characters and story. It's worth watching and it's very satisfying to see Phillia get a better life. However a 24 episode format would've been muuuch better for this story, it's just a little to fast.

If you want to watch it for the romance aspect, then just DON'T. The romance is almost non-existent and very shallow. He just says she's allowed to have feelings and falls for her at the very beginning, but their dynamic isn't explored enough. There's no chemistry, he just cares for her and she cares for him. Aside from that, the plot is fine, I must admit I wasn't bored. The characters are pretty simple: the mc is overpowered and doesn't let herself have personal feelings until prince charming encourages her to, most of the other characters don't have any depth to them at all, except for the mc's younger sister (her backstory, feelings and actions actually make sense and are interesting). Some characters feel unnecessary, or not explained enough, like the exorcist with the "tamed demon?".

Too Perfect Saint has a great story where each character has their own personality, desires, goals, and reasons for doing what they do while also being given important roles in the story. The romance is handled much better than the romance in many anime as the romantic subplots actually develop. Too Perfect Saint is great at creating investment in its story through drama and tension, often times by making an already drama filled situation even more dramatic or by making an already bad situation worse in a way which naturally builds its characters and displays potential sources of conflict between them. Lastly, Too Perfect Saint does a phenomenal job at avoiding the pitfalls prevalent in similar series as well as the pitfalls someone would expect a series named "Too Perfect Saint" to have.

A decently put-together show that unfortunately didn't have anything standout enough about it to make it all that enjoyable. The art style, voice direction, character interactions, and plot twists all never felt particularly inspired, so I struggled to find something to latch onto that would have gotten me engaged with the story. If you want a stoic mc, Violet Evergarden does a much better job, and for a saint mc, The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent is a lot more interesting and genuine. Though it will still be a good enough time if you want something to watch just for fun.

I liked this series as it was fairly enjoyable, and most of the main cast were well written and were the main reason to watch the series. But, and this is a big but, it was let down by being painfully unoriginal, painfully cliched and painfully predictable. The story for this series is without a doubt its weakest aspect, they could have done more with this but didn't, instead we got a series of commonly used plot points and tropes, and then had them inexpertly stitched together with nothing original, nothing new, nothing to make it stand out, it is just generic. Straight away we have two main overused tropes at play, the banished from the heroes party, except in this case it's banished from the country (and no it doesn't have to be the heroes party, its just the most common form of the trope, and also this particular twist has been done before) and the other main and common trope is where the villainess has her engagement broken off by the prince and is cast out - this is usually the starting point of the series, or established early as a future event for the heroine to avoid. The reasons behind these events is mind bogglingly stupid, the Saint is hard working, does everything the people ask and more, and yet the people don't like her because she doesn't smile, the Prince doesn't like her because she is too good at everything and makes him feel inferior... And so he arranges to get rid of his nations greatest asset... After this the story goes down its expected path, it picks up a few extra familiar plot points and clichés here and there and all this with the overused tropes just means you get to predict exactly what will happen next, that there are no surprises, and that takes a lot of the tension and enjoyment out of it. The ending of the series is also a let down, it just went full trash anime mode. And there is another problem with the writing at play here, some characters are given depth, they are written as characters, given personalities, some are even given growth. Others however are just 2d caricatures or your typical architypes, they have zero depth, zero personality, zero growth, they are just over the top character tropes. "This character is evil / bad because they are just evil / bad" only works in shounen, people aren't like that, they have depth, reasons why they behave in certain ways. Prince Kyle in The Saint Is Omnipotent worked in this role in S1 because he was given depth and was far more complex of a character, his initially prejudices meant he made a mistake, and to prevent others from being hurt by his mistake he pushed forward to carry the weight of it himself, doubling and tripling down even if it would bring his own downfall. People remember well written villains, they don't remember badly written generic villains who are evil just to be evil. It doesn't know if it wants to be a serious romantic fantasy like Shirayuki-hime, or if it wants to be more over the top with moustache twirling villains and battle maids, like you would get in any trash fantasy anime. This series is at its best when its focus is in Parnacorta and we see Philia adjusting to life there and the people around her, the people of Parnacorta are actually given depth (except combat maid and butler) It had so much potential to be good, it just ended up being slightly better than average, this series disappointed me because as I said at the start, I found it fairly enjoyable even with all its issues, and I can see how it could have been so much more if it had better writing, if it didn't just descend into slop, and if it actually dared to be different. Saints Power is Omnipotent S1 casts a long shadow over this series, it covers many similar story beats and yet executes them so much better than this does There are a lot of better series out there that do a lot more with their material, that are more original, are consistent in how they handle characters by ensuring every character is nuanced (not making stereotypical bad guys who are evil just to be evil) it is hard for me to recommend this series when there is better out there.

Very relaxing cute anime with truly mediocre story and most of the characters. You probably know it. Good guys are too good and bad guys ridiculously bad. The last episode was probably the weakest one because eveything truly important was already solved so the final boss and fight against him feels redundant, needless and empty. It makes story look like climax is missing. This anime is like morning sun or gentle touch on my cheek. Nothing extraordinary but I need such things in my life. Recommendation is kind of difficult. Try first two episodes, if you are charmed by protagonist and root for her everytime its anime for you. If you are not, you would waste your time here.

This anime is really pretty to look at. The visuals are clean, colorful, and the character designs are charming. If you're into fantasy with light drama, family themes, and a bit of romance, this might be a good pick. The story itself is quite slow, and not much happens in terms of action. The powers shown are okay, but they don’t really develop or surprise you. That’s probably why some parts feel a little boring. But if you like more character-driven stories, it’s still worth a shot. Philia, the main character, is honestly the highlight of the show. She’s brave, smart, and doesn’t waste time talking too much—she acts. Her life is pretty sad though. You’ll feel bad for her, especially because of the way her own family treats her. But she keeps going, and that makes her easy to root for. The romance doesn’t take up much space until the end, but when it happens, it hits hard. It’s not overly dramatic, just the right amount of sweet and emotional. It makes the whole story feel more complete. This isn’t the kind of anime you watch for crazy fights or epic power-ups. But it’s a relaxing watch with touching moments and nice messages about friendship, love, and family. Perfect for a chill day or weekend binge.

This will be a short and very personalized review that just simply states my thoughts and feelings about the flaws with this show and whether or not I would recommend it. It's going to be very subjective and different from my usual "serious" reviews so don't get pissed as this is just my subjective opinion. On the whole the show is alright, it has some fairly major writing issues with it's rather cliche and nonsensical villains but otherwise it was decently entertaining on the whole but wasn't anything to write home about. It's main premise of figuring out one's self and understanding their own feelings is a thing that has been done quite a few times already and was much better in other shows. e,g Violet Evergarden, Frieren, My Happy Marriage, in fact this show actually just feels like a "budget" version of all 3 of those mixed together if you get that meaning. It has it's good moments for sure, and they did impress and were enjoyable don't get me wrong, but even those were still be held back by the larger writing issues at hand here bringing the whole show down. The characters were mostly serviceable but there was really nothing that stood out about them with the only real exception being Mia who stood out for being a bit better written than the rest. If the show at least just had better written villains I think much of the better moments in the show would've hit much better and played their part even better but it is what it is. Don't get me wrong, on the whole it's not bad and definitely did what it's premise set out to do but it just simply left me quite disappointed as it's better moments were enjoyable but in the end I simply ended up let down by the poor writing of it's nonsense villains that couldn't support the writing for the main characters well enough. The best comparison I can make for this show is that it has semi similar writing issues to SAO where it feels like it just shoots itself in the foot with it's poor attempt at writing a villain, just with somewhat more generic and less perverted villains than SAO. Mixed feelings and 7/10, not bad, but definitely could've been far better.

Obviously, this is normal shojo fantasy. It's wish fulfillment, fun, and sweet. I think it's perfectly watchable if you're craving that. I really liked the beginning. I was curious about the world and was interested in the characters, especially Mia. I sort of felt like there was nuance to her that the other characters didn't have, and that isn't that common in these 12 episode romances. However, as the story went on, the development kind of went flat and the story felt rushed. I didn't really get to know anyone in detail. I think maybe if things were more fleshed out, I would have enjoyed it more. Maybe it's just a rushed adaptation, but I'm not sure since I haven't read the source material. A ton of characters were introduced but not fleshed out. I found myself really looking forward to the first few episodes but started to lose interest as it went on. Like, we know basically nothing about the MAIN LOVE INTEREST. If you want to turn your brain off and watch a shojo fantasy, go ahead. I stayed tuned for all 12 episodes. Trust, the next time a show like this comes out, I'll watch it.

It had a good start, but it's all over the place honestly. The romance tag is misleading too, there's barely anything going on on that front. It was an okay fantasy, but it's really generic and nothing special about it, I haven't watched many fantasy series, so I can't really compare this to anything I've seen, but I know for a fact that any fantasy anime have more to it than this one. I mean across all the saints we've seen like 3-4 abilities in total, when it comes to fighting they all spam silver judgement, other than that they use a generic healing/shielding/zone ability, so lackluster. The plot is nothing crazy but enjoyable, and the characters are good, these things alone made this anime okay. Even then there's a bit of character development missing towards the end, it gradually slowed down as the anime progressed. But really, what is this anime trying to do? It has a very generic and unoriginal fantasy theme, barely any romance going on despite having a romance tag, boring action, okay plot, good characters, but it just has no aim. There are like 3-4 subplots but none of them gets explored, it's a random mix of many things. It could've been better, easily, but oh well.

I’m really going to miss Philia — I think I’ve become a fan of this type of character. The story isn’t the most unique, and some parts felt rushed or underdeveloped. Maybe it’s due to the anime adaptation, since I didn’t read the light novel. Still, I found it charming in its own way. If you enjoy romance with characters who go through personal growth and emotional changes, it’s worth watching. The characters aren’t deeply complex, but they have enough charm and flaws to keep things interesting. Their reactions felt natural, even in a fantasy setting. Philia especially stands out with her gentle and sincere personality. The art style is simple but suits the tone of the story — nothing flashy, but it gets the job done. And while the anime might not impress everyone, I think fans of soft romance and heartfelt stories will find something to enjoy here. Also, the ending theme was way better than the opening — one more show added to my list for the ending alone.

Sometimes being perfect, results in you being hated by the people around you and being tossed aside for being too-perfect. This anime focuses on the two sisters, Philia and Mia, who are separated after Philia’s fiance sells her off to their neighboring country. We then get to see how Philia’s life starts evolving by not being surrounded with people jealous of her abilities, and Mia left behind in a country who would sell their own saint just because she was too-perfect. For the plot of the show it is very much split between the two sisters, where we see them each facing their own reality. Each sister faces different difficulties, some very obvious and others less so. While the story builds up separately they are still connected throughout and builds up to a nice conclusion. So we get to see how difficulties in the setting are handled by the sisters and two different countries, which is nice and helps fleshing out a broader world. When we look at the characters there is a very strong emphasis on the sisters, with most of the side characters being fairly basic and predictable. With the sisters having had different upbringings, does it result in them having very different world views and undergoing each of their own progression. The change each sister needs to face is complimented well by the story each of them follow and the world surrounding them. So the sisters are truly fleshed out characters that each have their own character progression, but comparing the side characters to them is not possible since they really only are there as support and most does not have any significant change to them. Visually the anime is very pleasing to watch, this is very much based on the animation style and the colour choice. It is not very impressive, but the combination makes it a very pleasant thing to watch and can be somewhat calming. This ties in really well with the pacing of the show which keeps a rather slow pace, but not to a degree that is bad, but just gives the whole show time to breathe. Overall it is a great show, with a nice plot, great main characters, and visually pleasing. Its only drawback is the side characters being rather bland. But i would in general recommend this show, since it is a nice feel good fantasy anime.
