I have now finished this season, and I am therefore re-writing my review. The TL;DR, is that, maybe outside of the final episode, the rest of this season sucked. Badly. EP1 and EP2 were OK at best, then EP3 was atrocious, and it never really picked back up, until that final episode. To copy a lot of what I said during my preliminary review (done after EP3), you can tell almost immediately that something isn't right, even when watching EP1 and EP2. By EP3 you realise that the animation budget for this season was maybe 1000 Yen and a pack of smokes for the animators. Most of the show is barely animated and you can tell there were a lot of cost-cutting measures taken. Lots of still-frames, lots of slideshow elements and constant frame-cuts, re-used animation segments, you get the picture. I have to mention EP3 specifically, because it was downright atrocious with how bad it was. Arc and Ariane walking through a town, while they're the only ones not affected by some kind of time-stop. Arc eating except it focuses on his helmet for like 10 seconds for no reason other than to cut down on animation frames, Ariane re-using S1 animation for her sword magic over and over... Again, you get the idea. Although EP12 was better, even then at points it was slide-show frame-to-frame and not at all smooth transitions. There's maybe 20-30 seconds of the final fight that look good, then its back to "meh". Furthermore, as I initially said, the story doesn't hit. All the more blood-filled and mature scenes are massively scaled back, and even guys that got slashed 2 seconds prior by Ariane or Arc just lie on the floor without a single scratch or drop of blood. That is if they are even guys, because a lot of the time this season, they mention people dying en-masse and necromancy, and then Arc/Ariane fight generic skeletons. Someone pointed out the reason for this watering-down, which is that S1 was rated 16 or 17+ mature, while S2 is now rated 13+ PG, so they obviously could not have any of the... well, elements that made Skeleton Knight what it was. Not only that, but rather than this season following a specific narrative, it just seems to be a continuous "point A to point B, fight an enemy, move on" deal. Yes, there are hints of an over-arching narrative, but it's completely second-fiddle to just generic "adventurer party" guff that we get in 90% of other slop isekai each season. The only time you feel like you're actually watching a Skeleton Knight story is in the final 2, maybe 3 episodes. The rest of it is all nonsense filler that could be cut, and arguably the anime would be better off for it. Basically, again, this season sucked. S1 wasn't mind-blowing, but the focus was in the right place, and the higher age-rating at least gave it the ability to be a harder-hitting show that stood out on its more mature elements. This scaled-back, watered-down, barely-animated slide-show was a disservice to the IP. This didn't feel like watching Skeleton Knight, it felt like watching one of those super generic OP-MC isekai slop we seemingly get 50 of each season now. Given how much I enjoyed S1 of Skeleton Knight, and how disappointed I am with this S2, I'm giving this a 3/10 (Very Bad), and Not Recommended. Yes, some might be hype because "OMG Skeleton Knight is back!", but honestly, just re-watch S1 and act like this one never came out. You won't be missing anything, honestly.

I just finished the show and wasn't gonna bother with a review but I gotta write it because the first season watchers are surely gonna be hype'd for this season. The story continues from s1 ending and overall the story still was alright, it kinda did feel like they were doing random quests which somehow had connections behind them, though i feel like it was forced. Other main issue is the animation, compared to the animation we got in season 1, this season is not even close to it. I usually don't bother much with animations as long as story is decent enough but the story wasn't up to the mark. I guess the issue was changing of studio, old studio were kinda cooking with season 1, this season is watchable so it's not straight dog water but I wouldn't ask season 1 watchers to be extremely hype'd cuz it's gonna be kinda disappointing. I am still giving it a 7/10 mainly because of the ending of season 2. It spiked up my interest and 2 big reasons are ariane-dono ;) TLDR: It's watchable but nothing close to what we had in season 1.

So we are back, after a couple of years, we have our skeleton knight and battle mage elf back in action. Ready to search for more problems. In this season we are following our main characters, Arc, Ariane and most importantly Ponta. We see them once again traveling through the land as they search for a cure to Arc’s curse and solve different problems they run into on their journey. The plot of the season is very much like last season, but it is starting to build up to a larger plot that spans further into the future. It is overall fine, with it having the same structure to it as last season, but they are now planting seeds for what comes next. Though it is still rather simple, with it always being predictable regarding what kind of ending the problem will have, the story in itself is not necessarily bad, just simple. Overall, the plot is simple and predictable, while still telling a fine story that slowly builds up to something bigger. Looking at the characters, most of them are exactly as they were last season, with some new characters being introduced. We see some character progression for the main characters, but more would have been preferred since it seemed lacking. The side characters had more character progression, with some of them giving more perspective to parts of the world the characters live in. Together, it does not give anything bad to the show, but it does not add as much to the show as could be hoped, but there were some interesting things happening to the characters. Now the animation production value of the show is somewhat mixed. For when looking at the design of the show, it is still very nice and fits the same style as the previous season. But when looking at the actual animation of the show, it is lacking. One thing is the use of CGI for the combat, since it makes it cheaper to make combat animation, and it is not done too badly. But when the rest of the animation seems stagnant, lacks detail and lacks movement, it just feels cheap. So, even though it has a fine design, the animation is dragging it down and makes it somewhat disappointing. To conclude, this season is slightly disappointing, with the animation lacking behind and the other factors not being impressive. So, if you are really invested in this show, watch it if you want to, otherwise I would recommend watching something else.

Wow, I can't believe I waited 4 years for this disaster. First, I want to clarify that I only know the manga up to the point where Arc fights the Pope or whatever. I haven't read the light novel. So, I start watching Season 2. The first episode started off badly. I don't remember any of this happening in the manga. I stopped halfway through and moved on to the second episode. Same thing. I don't remember any of this from the manga either. So I started looking into it, and apparently, out of the 12 episodes, the first 4 are filler. EXCELLENT START. I skip ahead to episode 5. That's when I realize it's even worse than I thought. All the characters have been turned into stupid and harmless versions of themselves. They're an inferior version of their manga counterparts in every way. Who is this anime even for? Kids? Teenagers? Adults? I don't think it's for anyone. There's enough violence to rule out children, but any teenager who's watched more than 10 anime and pretty much any adult is going to realize that this show treats its viewers like idiots. Out of these 12 episodes, I honestly think they would've had more success if they had cut it down to 6 OVAs with better production quality. This anime is simply awful, and the people responsible for making it, as well as the people who gave this disaster the green light, should be ashamed of themselves.

Hello. I won't even bother with a full review, lets just wrap it up quickly. Visuals, sound design, editing, pacing, world-building, magic system, all are meh, at best. I don't remember now, but I think the first season had a tad bit more "charm". The violence, the ladies, whatever. Now, its just something... there.. Something to just exist. Mid production value. Next. This season is a waste of time. The story is lacking. There is no story, but I'm trying to be polite. Plot contrivances and plot holes. Plot devices just to pretend that there's a logic behind it all. Whatever appeal the first season had, its not there anymore. Now we get only save the cheerleader, sav-- ahem. Save the elves, save the beastkin, save this, save that. Sure, the first season had that too, but that was "fun", there was some sort of story behind it all, along with his personal quest, ofc. Now, for a reason I can't figure it out, everything is "lets all be happy together".... Next. No character progression (the thing with the ninja is sht), no relationship progression. There's nothing. "Boring" would be an upgrade. If forced, I could watch "boring" while waiting for a new episode of my favorites to air. But this is not even that. *sigh* It gets a rating of 3. Not recommended, obviously. I'll watch a season 3 (if), but I already know it won't get better. I'm not interested in all the teasing and the plot-threads they tried going for. Not even with that reveal at the end. Pfew, done. I really did a quickie. Yeey. Have a lovely day.

If you just do a carbon copy of Season 1, it’s only half as interesting. You can also “make it worse” by toning down all the conflicts. Season 1, Episode 1, the first 20 seconds: Bandits are about to rape a noblewoman; the maid lies half-naked on the floor. Arc appears and literally cuts these bandits in half. I didn’t see a single comparable scene in the entire second season. During the fights, the elf jumps forward and her opponents fall to the ground unconscious. What happened?!—The “softener” has struck. It would have been a real step forward if Arc had broken his curse and the two had entered into a romantic relationship. That would have been much more interesting than this childish nonsense. The story is at least interesting enough to watch. Compared directly to so many other anime titles that start out promising but ultimately turn out to be pathetic and “woke,” Skeleton Knight still ranks among the top 30% of all productions. The anime business is going to ruin because of “woke” trends, and it doesn’t surprise me in the least why YouTube recaps generate better viewership numbers.

This anime is kind of repetitive. Look at season one: arc and co find beastkin, elves or whatever in trouble, take a detour and help them out while slaying monsters. Now look at season two: arc and co find beastkin, elves or whatever in trouble, take a detour and help them out while slaying monsters. It feels like we're going around in circles, the plot isn't really advancing, the character development is non existent, and it's almost as if the season was created simply to milk off nostalgia of the viewers. Story: 2.5/10 Character development: 0.00001/10 Music: 4/10 Art: 5/10 Animation: 7/10 Skip: 10/10

One of the worst sequels I watched in past couple of years . The season 1 ended with a banger storyline and engaging visuals but 2nd season is literally a disappointment no lore no fun just a mesh up of random side quests . The forced pacifism and censorship ruined the fun and artistic style . I don't know the exact reason of downgrade but it seems a deliberate decision , literally filled the fans with non existent garbage plot line . The fight sequences are hella mid , there in no weight no emotion behind them . Nothing more to say , just don't watch this season otherwise you will end up hating season 1 too . Save your time, Stay healthy .

Season 2 was an utter disappointment compared to Season 1. It had more kidnapper of the week theme in first half of season. It turned from a fun magic fantasy adventure comedy into a dull slice of life with barely any plot progress in 8 of 12 episodes. It is almost as if Season 2 should have been Cour 2 of Season 1. Then it would be fine. But watching this as a continuation season after years is a disgrace. The animation is decent. The plot is missing till they remembered they needed it. The show finally got serious in last 2 3 episodes but it was too little too late.

I was looking forward to this and then learnt they waste 3/12 episodes on FILLERS. and then Remove the coolest moment from the novel... in a way that just makes it worse (-_- ) Just adapt what author wanted ffs If the studio wanted to make their own thing, why not just do so without trampling the author´s work and IP. The art style is fine, but the quality of combat scene animation is way below the 1st season. + no blood, censored and lazy animation on fights. They added some semi-funny jokes Might be enjoyed if you didn´t read the novel but it will discourage you from doing so. They made a unique isekai plot into a copy-paste one.

Bottom line up front: Strange tone shift toward being kid-friendly, ugly CGI replacing a lot of the animation, and repetitive, predictable episodes. An overall step down from season 1. Longer Version: The tone has shifted from an already jarring mix of lightheartedness and incredible violence to now just being a children's show (until the last episode for some reason). A weird choice. The show is having an illogical identity crisis, seeing as how anyone who watched season 1 was already okay with the more mature content (such as people being killed) -- so who was this change for? Younger folks aren't going to start with season 2! A lot of the animation was replaced with CGI -- Arc and Ponta are CGI nearly full time, as are all monsters they encounter. I'm not a fan of this choice; it looks bad. The plot also seems to kind of go nowhere until the last couple episodes and is quite repetitive. What plot it does start to reveal regarding the Hilk Church in the last couple episodes seems like a partial knock off of Final Fantasy Tactics' templerate/church-Lucavi scheme, of the quality that can be found at the bottom of the dumpster behind a Temu warehouse. Overall, the show went from "somewhat mid" to "aggressively mid" isekai slop between season 1 to season 2.

I didn't enjoy it as much as Season 1 even though it follows pretty much the same formula. They did answer an important question from the previous season which I liked and they started setting up a much bigger conflict from the beginning. The season eventually builds towards an action heavy finale but the problem was that I wasn't invested enough in the conflict. Even when things got intense, I was just sitting there like, "meh, okay." The animation also dropped compared to Season 1 which made the action less impressive. However, they did add an interesting scene at the very end of the finale that definitely caught my eye and makes me wonder what happens next. Overall, decent but a step down from Season 1 for me.

"Yeah, the Skeleton is back! Finally I can... oh, never mind..." I think that's the best way to sum up this season. The animation, the sound the violence... everything isn't as good as S1 (except for the OP). So this far, I can understand everyone who's disappointed. However, if you send your expectations right down to hell and just focus on the show itself it's not that bad as some other reviews describe it. They are just walking from one place to an other and fight there? Well, they also did so in S1. The overall story isn't there at all or is lame? Well, looking at all together it's just the continuation of the first Seasons story, even though the beginning kinda feels less enthusiastic. The animation quality dropped? Yes, unfortunately, but at least the characters still look like they used to and not so alienated like in "Maou-sama Retry" compared to its second season. The violence is gone? Well, at least not completely but it's better this way than forced gore for the sake of it. I could go on and on, but to put it simply: If you lower your expectations, you get at least a somehow entertaining show with some glimpses of what made the first season so special. For me, I just hope we will get a 3rd season which will rise the expectations once more - and hey, at least we didn't had to wait like nearly a decade to see what's happen next.

Skeleton Knight is an anime I remember watching years ago, and I've been keeping up with its manga since. My memory of the first season isn't great, but I think I enjoyed it quite a bit. This season, on the other hand, was a much more mixed experience. The story follows Arc, a man who's been isekai'd into a fantasy world as his OP skeletal knight avatar. He travels the world alongside Ariane, an elf, and Chiyome, a beastfolk, helping people along the way. This season starts with the gang searching for a fountain to treat Arc's skeletal curse, then develops into a more interesting plot focusing on Chiyome's brother, Sasuke, and the conspiracy of the Hilk Church in the second half. The first half of this season feels like filler. Not the modern "episode that doesn't advance the plot" definition of filler that people toss around nowadays, but the actual "anime-original content designed purely to fill time" definition. I'm genuinely not sure if it actually is or not, but I was bored out of my mind watching it and nearly dropped the series. The action is made up largely of canned animations and still shots, the fight choreography is exceedingly simple and uninteresting, and the mature topics and darker themes of the story are toned down in a way that just feels kinda lame. These issues don't really improve much in the second half of the season, but it at least picks up some actually interesting plot threads. The story between Chiyome and Sasuke is touching, and we're also introduced to Tsubone, who's a fun character. The last few episodes also bring in the main villains of the overall story, the Hilk Church, and are a marked step up from the rest of the season. This season was overall a pretty huge disappointment for me, and it didn't live up at all to the potential of its source material. If you watched the first season, I recommend reading the manga over watching the anime.

What a disappointing season. You know the writer is afraid to remove the curse from the MC and show his face because it's the only main bait the writer has for the viewers to stay engaged. Well, until the end of this season when the "other guy" is revealed. But the whole season felt mostly pointless with boring-ass ninjas doing third-rate magic and unimpressive sword fights to pad the runtime. I do not give a fuck about a single ninja in this anime and ended up fast-forwarding most of the drama and even fights in the last episode. MC feels like a secondary character, an NPC that stands around occasionally saying something silly (I think it's supposed to make you laugh but the writing is awful and unfunny). They've turned MC's character into a side-show who's busy doing his unfunny comedy routine in every scene. Even during combat it seems like everyone else with MC is as effective as him in most fights, until he does something flashy (which btw most don't even react to, cause no one gives a shit in this world). Else his main job seems to be a taxi in this universe, teleporting people left and right. Yeah, Skeleton Knight's Taxi Adventure in Another World. New title for you. Visually, it didn't bother me, it was alright. Combat was the same as the previous season, well maybe worse because you see those boring ninja fights and they just look awkward for some reason (close to One Punch Man Season 3). Audio mixing is shit, I had to turn on subs for English dub because of shitty audio filters they use for some characters. Anyway, no relationship really develops, MC is an oblivious buffoon, the whole "lifting the curse" thing is just a carrot being dangled to make you watch, but you know the reveal will be when they've lost the viewer numbers (by the end of the season 3). Overall, meh. I won't lower my rating to 4/10 but not raise it from 5/10. Maybe if they have season 3, it wouldn't be written for third graders who are easily amused by third-rate comedy routines.

This... sucks compared to S1. Nothing memorable. The silver lining is that it isn't outright bad. There is some degree of mindless enjoyability somewhere, and it continues the story from S1. This isn't a catastrophic falloff like Shield Hero, where the drop in quality were straight up offensive to watch, the biggest sin for this season is just in how mediocre the viewing experience ended up being. The plot were slow, and nothing exciting happened overall. The story failed to set up an overall tone and plot, and there's nothing to really expect going from start to finish. Well, there is the evil church that was the main antagonist for the entire season, but the story is more akin to watching someone playing an RPG and just running around doing side quests, which loosely relates to the main story more than anything. At least, this does allow the potential for a better S3, if one ever gets made. And that's pretty much the one good thing about this season, it wasn't bad enough that it'd outright butcher any interest if S3 were ever made.
