An office romance that makes the same mistake as other anime in this genre: putting a school romance in an office setting. If you like these kinds of stories, that's fine, and I respect that. But if you tell me that the anime is a good representation of adult life and workplace problems, then I have my doubts. Let's break it down because there are a lot of things that bother me. First, Kannawa, the female protagonist. The story portrays her as someone who struggles to communicate and is always misunderstood. This leads to everyone being afraid of her because she tends to be quite aggressive in her responses. Up to this point, there's nothing wrong with that, until you learn her job title. She's in charge of a Marketing department, which involves many meetings with clients, and she's very good at managing them. This is where it doesn't make sense: how can someone who knows how to communicate with clients not be able to communicate with everyone else? The girl communicates perfectly, so it's a bit contradictory. In the final part of the anime, they explain the reason why, and it's somewhat resolved, but at the beginning, it doesn't make sense, and it ends up looking like a teenager afraid to talk to her classmates, even though they're adults. Second, despite being set in an office, this aspect of the work environment is barely explored. The problems are always personal and rarely professional. In an anime that initially focuses on a boss training a new employee, you'd expect them to show how complicated it is to integrate into adult professional life. It doesn't have to be something complex; it just has to be problems that adults commonly face. The male protagonist, oh my god, he's a piece of furniture. He contributes nothing and lets Kannawa carry the entire story. He's incredibly slow in both his actions and reactions. The story tries everything to put him in situations to develop their relationship, and he doesn't take advantage of them. They make them share a room, walk under the same umbrella in a hurricane, work on a cafe project together, and he does absolutely nothing. You reach a point where you ask yourself, "What more do you need, you jerk?" The anime improves significantly as the episodes progress. The introduction of two secondary characters breathes a lot of life into it. It allows the girl to have a wider range of expressiveness and interactions beyond the romantic. They make you appreciate her and even develop a little affection for her. The problem is that so much focus is given to the girl that the boy is neglected for long periods, making him easily forgettable. The boy has to be there because a romance requires two people, but if it were an office slice-of-life anime, he would be superfluous. Although the anime improves somewhat, it still suffers from the same underlying problem: it still feels like a school romance. Adult issues are absent; they simply don't exist. There are no problems that a worker can empathize with. Because the girl, as a trainer, does the bare minimum, and the boy spends more time trying to win over the boss than actually working. The anime had a lot of potential in this regard because the company is a marketing firm that works with all kinds of industries. It was an opportunity to use the story to explain how anime collaborations with cafes work or how advertising is done in Japan. Instead, they chose to portray the protagonists as if they were 13 years old again. When an office romance is announced, it's expected that professional challenges will be included in addition to romantic ones. If you don't, then why even bother thinking about an office setting? This romance, if you extrapolate it to a school, can be told in the same way without any changes.

The anime is so good that it can be watched in one sitting and there would be no regrets . The colours are so quiet and calming neither flashy nor bland and the side characters are perfect . This is one of the anime from this season that I was most excited to watch, eagerly waiting for each new episode. It is a very sweet romance, the kind that truly warms your heart. Kannawa is beautiful and has a reserved, serious personality, but from the viewer’s perspective, she becomes even cuter because of how shy and gentle she is. I absolutely loved her character design as a female lead. When I first met the male protagonist, Kamegawa, I did not really like his appearance, and his personality did not seem very interesting at first. However, as the episodes went on, this couple genuinely managed to pull me in, and I started to like both characters more and more. Even though it is another anime about adults behaving like teenagers in love, it is still very enjoyable and well done. Overall, it is a great romance anime, and I would give it a solid 7 out of 10. The animation is average, but the colors and character designs are quite beautiful. The opening fits the anime perfectly, it is original, engaging, and so good that I never felt like skipping it. The ending left me wanting more, and I really hope they make a continuation.

I can never get enough workplace romance stories and My Awkward Senpai is quietly one of the best I’ve ever seen. I don’t know, there’s just something about Azusa and Yu’s relationship that really hit for me. I am a huge fan of slow burn romances so seeing them start as an awkward senpai-kouhai duo before progressing to friends and then beyond was awesome. It’s paced just the way I like it, not too fast, not too slow and every episode brings them closer. I also think the show is somewhat realistic in showing how tepid employees might be to take that next step. There’s potential risks in getting involved with someone at work so it makes sense that the characters move slowly on that front. Still, we had a tremendous amount of progress in this show and all the interactions with our leads are diabetes inducing. Azusa is hands down one of my girls of the year. Her awkwardness really endeared her to me. Despite coming off like an asshole, she’s actually the biggest sweetheart and wants to make friends, she just doesn’t know how. I found her struggle really relatable because I can also come off like an asshole at times and get smart with people for no reason, but when people actually take the time to get to know me and see what I’m really like, they end up liking me. Some of us just aren’t the best people persons and Azusa represents our ideal character arc. I absolutely love how her character development plays out thanks to her meeting Yu. She goes from the most feared person in the office to someone who can be approached for help with planning parties, drinking events etc. Seeing her come out of her shell was so satisfying and I’ll never get all the adorable faces she made in this show out of my head. Have to give a lot of credit to Lynn for her performance as Azusa. She really sold the clumsy and shy personality and just made you want to hug Azusa every time she was on screen. Our two leads’ relationship wasn’t too over the top which is always nice. Not a lot of melodrama or cringe dialogue. Just two people who go from colleagues to good friends by being vulnerable with one another. The kind and compassionate Yu and the awkward Azusa made a very nice couple and their interactions are genuine and diabetes inducing. The amount of times I had to cover my face because of how cute something was is crazy. The way Yu helps Azusa open up and be more honest about her feelings by the end of the show was great. The older I get, the more I appreciate stories like this where the characters are adults and still trying to find themselves. I know Japan likes the high school setting because that’s the freest part of many Japanese peoples’ lives, but for a lot of us in our 20s, we’re still trying to figure the whole adult thing out and making friends at this age can be difficult, especially at work where you feel you need to maintain a certain level of distance from everyone. But you never know, someone else might be feeling the same way and desperately wanting to connect too. I saw a few negative comments about the characters’ multi toned hair, but I really liked it actually. I think the show and the character designs look great. The voice acting is solid, especially Lynn as Azusa and the pacing is good. This has everything I want in my workplace romance. Supporting characters are fun and help advance the story, nothing gets dragged out too long, we get significant progress etc. It’s just a very satisfying watch and one of my fave shows of the year. I’m so in love with Azusa and I envy Yu so much for having her. Lol. I’ll miss this show a lot. My Awkward Senpai gets 9 out of 10.

so I did enjoy this show and I’m starting to enjoy the adult cast work life romantic more and more as I watch this one is a good one. The only problem is it’s sort of went downhill quite quickly. I only think that because with 12 episodes you need to maximise each one and about three of those episode episodes so a quarter of the show had nothing to do with the workplace it sort of felt like a normal romance show which was fine, but since I was sort of interested in the workplace it did drop that and didn’t really come back to it at all Nothing said it was good and I didn’t enjoy the show so why do you recommend it? It’s not crazy. It doesn’t do anything amazing but it is just a good watch. And I’m expecting there to be a season two because of how it ends. Overall I liked it 7/10

My Awkward Senpai — Workplace romances...don't you just love it when there's no drama surrounding the developing couple and you're even cheering for them, despite the taboo about office relationships in general? It is said that relationships can develop in quite a number of ways, no matter the TPO (time, place, occasion) that's a cultural phenomenon rather unique to Japan alone. Naturally, combine that with the perception of taboo topics like workplace romance, and you'd have yourself one heck of a stigma that is pretty much adhered to. However, it's these kinds of professional conversations that fellow office colleagues have that, when they blur the line into the office romance, can come out quite the opposite, though that depends on the circumstances. In a similar fashion, there's the subgenre theme of adult-cast office/workplace romance relationships that we've seen in AniManga over the last few years, with the most popular being that of Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii a.k.a. WotaKoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, which got its start in Spring 2018. Since then, several more series of works have shown up on the seasonal charts to make their nickel-and-dime work, and while it's not hard to admit that workplace romance shows have gotten quite stale in their premise and more so in their execution of the characters that make their series stand out, where, for example, for every quality copy (e.g., Fall 2021's Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi a.k.a. My Senpai is Annoying) there is its cheap imitation (e.g., Summer 2023's Uchi no Kaisha no Chiisai Senpai no Hanashi a.k.a. My Tiny Senpai), it can be easy but yet difficult at the same time to find shows that truly give you the bang for your office buck. Similarly so, mangaka Makoto Kudo's Bukiyou na Senpai a.k.a. My Awkward Senpai, stands on this fine line of decent to good, such that it really depends on how you take a gander at this workplace romance series. The ever-so-predictable senpai-kouhai close relationship, which is at least stereotypical for this series, sees the MCs of Azusa Kannawa and her newly minted underling, Yu Kamegawa, working together at their video game company's marketing department. At first, everything seems stereotypical on the surface: Azusa is quite the level-headed supervisor of a senpai who makes sure that everything that everyone does is quality-backed and up to the task, and the same can be said for Yu, who feels intimidated by her strict personality and her hard-working dedication to her work. However, as Yu is about to find out, Azusa has 2 sides to her personality — the fearful and ostracizing office side, as well as the tongue-in-cheek, awkward, timid, and clumsy private side that only she and the handful of people she trusts know about. And that sparks quite the relationship, from bonding over video games for a start to showing each other that they have their backs at every single moment, establishing quite the romance between the two that goes hand-in-hand as they grow closer to each other. Office/workplace romance shows can be easy to watch, but it all hinges on characterization, which this series can be a hit or miss. Like Annoying Senpai, it's nice to see how Azusa and Yu are working together, as they do in workplace relations, and despite the flimsiness of Azusa in trying to wield her Senpai facade of an image to Yu, her troubled private self gives the newcomer a chance to dig at his supervisor's personality with her quirks and features that make her his ideal "partner," as much as Azusa is always seen being both strict and worried about Yu thinking that he would mess up his work, thus inflicting his reputation onto her (which ended up not being the case). However, like Tiny Senpai, the supporting characters do have their personalities too, but they are developed in a shallow way that only serves as emotional support at best. Sure, the ladies' get-together with Azusa, Mio Hotta, and Ritsu Kankaiji (to name a few), helping Azusa see how she stands with Yu, is only brought forth when Azusa feels down and/or needs advice on the "unfamiliar" feeling that she's feeling as the series moves forward with her development. That's not to say that the characterization done here is bad, though there's potential to be tapped that, unfortunately, is delivered on a friendship and case basis. I'm surprised that Studio Elle was chosen for this project, given that the small studio's track record is bad enough that it leaves a bad impression. Despite producing bad Isekais that just fail from the outset, Bukiyou na Senpai cements the fact that they CAN actually produce decent content on the cheap. Even with a less-than-stellar staff team run by rookie director Ayumu Kotake, the decent source material does allow for some flexibility in its adaptation, and for what it is, I think that the show turned out alright. The music too is also alright, delivering its subtle tones, as are Angela's OP and Ami Maeshima's ED (though giving them a speed bump each would render the songs a little more hype to goodness). At its core, Bukiyou na Senpai a.k.a. My Awkward Senpai is a decent showing at trying to stay true to the office/workplace romance subgenre theme, without relying much on external drama to present its romance theme well. However (and take this with a pinch of salt), I kind of wished there was extra spice to this that would just elevate the series to predictable but new highs, but maybe that's just me. Anyways, this is a series that's worth keeping in your backlog if you fancy the stereotypical with predictability but still want quality at the end of it all.

To be honest, I didn't watch this anime looking for a special meaning, the topic was interesting, in fact, I didn't watch it at the beginning, but after I had the chance to watch 1 episode, this anime attracted me because the sound producers in the studio perfectly included sound effects and music according to the environment. I have watched a lot of romance anime, but the main point in this anime is Kannawa and the sound design, the reason why I praise Kannawa is that the girl carries the anime on her own, the emotional transfers are quite natural, when it comes to the main character, it is a completely straight wall, being ashamed is one thing, not doing anything is another, but there is a fine line here, after all, they do not meet as friends, they met within a framework of respect, so it is quite normal for the male main character not to make a move, if you empathize a little to avoid misunderstanding, you will understand it directly. It would be nice if there is a second season of this anime, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if it doesn't. Normally I don't give 9 points easily, I don't have intermediate points, but most of my points here belong to sound design and Kannawa.

Good adaptation from studio, direction and other things about adaptation are good, i figured out some small detail that i know this anime ia proper made. My favourite part are voice acting and design character but that design usually using for school anime but i like it. Problem in this anime is story that just basic and nothing special, and bad decision from direction team to ended their story on that moment unless that's straight away S2 confirmation. And some detail animation that bad specially for me is there are so many black screen transition just for move to other place, that transition usually using for change day imo. Other than bad part other things are good and for me and as romance enjoyer i totally enjoy the show and recommend it for people that like romcom (but there just a lot anime that better than this one) u can see this when you already watched too much romcom, at least it desrved 7,5 overall in mal cause 7,02 just too low imo

There will never be a shortage of romantic comedies that takes place in a workplace revolving around to grown adults, and I'm always here for them. You could even say that they can be a dime a dozen when most romantic comedies revolve around high school dramas to college. Oh, what am I saying? Any romantic comedy can be a dime a dozen, no matter who is old or young. (Well, as long as there ain't too large in the age gap, it's all good). My Awkward Senpai's premise is as basic as you'd expect. Azusa Kannawa, voided by Lynn, is an office worker at a video game development company who is known for her good looks and having a serious attitude. She is looked up by her peers and her superiors as one of the best. However, her office personality has been a facade, as in reality, she is awkward around people. When she is asked to mentor a new hire named Yu Kamegawa, voiced by Shogo Sakata, she finds it difficult. Yet as time passes on, they get to know each other more as senpai-kouhai as Azusa was trying to do what her senpai had done for her when she was new to the business. Maybe trying a little too hard, which actually makes Yu appreciate her while helping her out as much as he can offer. Which leads to them forming a friendship and maybe becoming more than friends. The show is carried by the relationship between Azusa and Yu as they evolve with one another the more they progress. Sure, Azusa tries to act tough, yet it never hurts to lower your guard just to show how caring she can be. At least being appreciated by her kouhai. As for Yu, he started off being the bland guy until you get to know him better as he is helpful and he doesn't mind it. Making both Azusa and Yu likable and do want to see them get together. Sure, it's always awkward with how Azusa feels when she does have feelings for Yu, and once in a while, Yu would feel the same. It's kinda sweet for these two getting along whether it's video games, taking trips with their coworkers, spending time with their family (as so far, we've seen Azusa's mother and Yu's sister), and doing whatever it benefits for the company they work for or with each other. As far as their friends go, you have Mio Hotta, who is a member of the PR department and a colleague of Yu, voiced by Ami Maeshima. Ritsu Kankaji, who is a member of the planning department, voiced by Mitsuki Saiga. Some moments are predictable, and at times, I guessed right on what was coming. Now we look into the animation, and the studio involved is Studio Elle. I'm not familiar with them until I'd learned that they were involved with an anime called Gibiate. It's been a long time, but let's say it was a bad show if my memory serves correct. I have to give Studio Elle credit that the animation in this was smooth and pretty good. Making the characters flexible and the background just like how the world outside of the office is like wherever Azusa and Yu go. The spa, their business trip, and this cafe are interesting where they evolve further. It's ironic that Christmas is around the corner, and you have the last two episodes centered around the holidays. It makes me believe that Studio Elle has improved over the years with the visuals and the animation. Gotta give credit where credit is due. I will be honest, I'm not too big on seeing a different colored highlight that is behind the character's initial hair color. I couldn't help but think of it as an animation error like how I'm not too fond of seeing a character's eyes being visible behind their hair. Or if that was intentional. I'll let y'all decide if it was either or. This is comforting, funny, and kinda sweet when we see Azusa and Yu forming a bond from senpai-kouhai to something that could lead to them being more than just friends. If I were to rank this along with other shows that featured adults that had their own romantic comedy adventures such as My Senpai is Annoying and Wotokoi, this might be my third favorite. Sure, most of the humor and drama are more on the awkward side, as the title says. You just gotta stick with them until they have their sweet moment with their character evolution with the theme of self-improvement. I will give this awkward senpai seven drunken tears from Azusa after trading a conversation with Yu during their business trip out of ten. 7/10.

This was very nice and wholesome romance anime, and as a full-time working adult in a big company it hit very near my heart. From the first to last episode it was very enjoyable ride, one I wish it would have continuation one day. Animation and music: animation is standard but it was nice and fluent for the duration of the show, there was no degradation in quality or low quality frames. Music was fine, no noticeable soundtracks worthy of mention. Overall: animation and music are industry standard, not bad but not excellent either. Characters: Azusa is hard working and serious women, being feared by her colleagues because of her strict stance when they interact with her. She is like that only on surface, beneath all that is women who is always worried if she did things right or is she able to convey her thoughts properly to others. She is like this her entire life and didn't had much success with friends or lovers becasue of that. Yuu on the other hand is young and cheerful new employee who is smart, fast learner, serious and compassionate. He starts working and immediately notice how is Azusa struggling with saying and acting properly what she wants to convey but always giving it her all and finishes the job at the end. The entire anime is revolving around the evolving relationship around those two and how Azusa changes for the better. Joining them are later on are Hotta and Ritsu, who are doing their best to act as a wing-women for both of them. Other than those four other notable characters are Sakura, Azusa's mother, who is too cute and silly for her years (nevermind looking the same age as her daughter). And lastly we have Yuki, Yuu's younger sister who is also acting as a strong wing-women for her onii-chan. This show does not have much characters, which is excellent as entire point of the show is development between the two main ones and like this it is perfect. Overall: main duo is an ocean of sweetness and wholesome while others are strong wing-women for them. Despiute only main duo getting serious development it is an enjoyable watch as others are not drags and contribute to the relationship. Story: the story is rather simpley: Azusa is getting new trainee under her and from there their personal relationship develops. That's it. Only notable difference is that this is in office rather than high school like 99% of other anime. The story has no real conflicts but instead it is focused on slow development between the two, and you can expect all the anime romance tropes like festival, heavy rain, being sick, birthdays etc... Still, despite story being barebone it is still an enjoyable watch as the entire point of anime is growing love story between the two. And in that regard it is more than delivering. Story: a basic love story set in office, nothing more and nothing less. But the growing relationship between Yuu and Azusa is caring the show rather well. Overall grade: 8, I gave it a 10 because I personally enjoy it that much. But realistically, this show true grade is a strong 8. Despite not doing anything new or too exiting the relationship between the two employees is really well done that it is caring it in full. I am recommending it to anyone who would like to enjoy some nice romance show to warm your heart. If it ever gets season 2 I will watch it for sure.

Aaaah, my comfort zone. It couldn't be greater than this. Last time I saw an anime with a workplace setting was "I Have Crush At Work (Can You Keep It A Secret?)." That was a blast! I have a blast with this as well. And not only that, but I also enjoy reading the manga. It's available on MangaUP! So, might as well read it, right? How did I find this? Actually, I have read it before and haven't continued it because of the length of the series. Could you believe it that this series actually has over 100 chapters today? Don't know if it's any good beyond the anime, because I noticed that a lot has been added and removed from the manga that I even forgot which one was canon. Lol Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?) I haven't seen much of workplace romance anime, so this is definitely a great addition to the roster of those types of romance stories. Hmm, I should watch more of these, shouldn't I? Platform Catchplay, and... Crunchyroll. Huff... I should definitely use Catchplay again. I hate being a pirate. *After researching before uploading this, it's not even available on my country's server. Haiya... The review; Plot/Story Your typical man and woman romance in a workplace. Actually, not just that! Female senpai and male kouhai romance! The rest? Well, as you guessed from the title of this anime, it gets awkward. No! Not that kind of awkward. It's just that Kannawa, the female senpai, is really shy about everything. She is a shut-in otaku, you know? I can relate. Now, after hearing that, imagine how awkward it would be when she has a male kouhai to mentor. Not just that, he is popular among women. YES! THAT type of awkward. Which is really cute in concept. Character Love it! Absolutely love it. The delivery of both MCs is really great. The facial expression, the VA, and the animation delivered some banger to these characters. Props to the team for making it this good! OST/SFX The OP sounds so great. I saw a Japanese comment on the official OP video on YouTube, and they said that the song sounded like the early '90s. Now, I haven't seen many of those anime OST, but if they sound like this, I would love to consume more. The ED is also great, love to hear a great melody from the ED. SFX? Well, I would love to talk about it in more detail because I do love some of those moments' SFX, it's just that I would like it to be more pop-ups. But as it is delivered, it might lose its power a bit, not gonna lie. Lol But hey, still kudos to the team though. Animation Also love it! This has that simple style and a really easy-to-animate feeling in it. Seeing the studio that makes this, I realize this is the second studio, THIS SEASON, I found in the wild. I hope you have a great success, guys! I love, I mean LOOOOVEEEE the animation style. VA Great! I never thought that Kannawa would have that deep of a voice when I was reading the manga, but hey! It works, so kudos to Lynn for the great performance of Kannawa. Other than her, Two Thumbs Up! You guys did a great job to guys. Amazing work! The conclusion; The good I'm glad that workplace romance is getting a little bit bigger. I love to see that. The bad I have to catch up with the manga now. Haiya... Overall, 8.7/10 Great watch, and now, let's catch up with the current chapter of the manga, shall we? I have some work to do. Lol

This anime builds the relationship little by little and I love it, there wasn't a single episode that I didn't enjoy, even with some drops in quality, everything is so cute, I totally love Kannawa san. I won't lie to you that at first I had my doubts when reading the description I said "oh it could be good" but with low expectations, and I ended up being surprised by how good it was, I won't tell you that it is the best romcom you will ever see but it is very entertaining and quite cute, the main heroine Kannawa is very tender inside and that makes her even better, it is very easy to quickly get attached to her, as for the male protagonist, he is not at all flat or pathetic, they handle him very well and you can empathize with him, he is not the typical immature protagonist, this anime has its ups and downs but you don't care at all, and the last chapter is good and not at all disappointing. If you ask me for a recommendation it's a total yes, it hurts me that maybe this anime will go unnoticed this season, that's why you have to watch it! Needless to say, I'm waiting for the second season, we need it now.

Um, I ate this one up??? What an incredible season this was for romances!!! I added about eight different romances to my watch list this season, and “My Awkward Senpai” was one I added on a whim thinking it would be middle-realm romance fodder that would get the job done but not be anything special, but I could not have been more wrong! This one was just so sweet, and the pacing felt really natural and real. The last episode is especially worth praising. There was something about the directing and the overall vibe of this finale that was just atmospherically fantastic. It almost felt like an entirely different show with how next level it was, exceeding the high bar most anime viewers have for Christmas episodes. I recommend this in particular to those who really enjoyed high school shojos in their youth but are ready for their MCs to age up like they have. Workplace romances are becoming one of my new favorite anime sub-genres (even though they always have me screaming "HR” at my TV screen).

I really liked this anime. The characters were cute and it was nice to see an office romance instead of something set in high school. Most of the episodes were good. I'm not a big fan of some of the tropes in the anime so one episode fell flat for me, but over all I liked the story and I would definitely watch more of it. If you're looking for a slice of life anime that has some laughs and romance to it then this is a good bet. If you're looking for something that's going to dig deep and be super dramatic then this isn't that experience.

Bukiyou na Senpai (My Awkward Senpai) delivers a quietly charming take on workplace romance, anchored by its endearing characters and a comforting, low-stakes atmosphere. While it doesn’t aim to reinvent the genre, it succeeds in creating a soft, relatable experience that resonates with viewers who appreciate subtle emotional development over dramatic storytelling. One of the show’s strongest aspects is its slow-burn romance between Kannawa Azusa and Kamegawa. Their relationship unfolds naturally through small, meaningful interactions rather than forced plot points. Kannawa’s awkward attempts to express herself—whether through hesitant conversations or overthinking simple gestures—feel genuine and grounded. Kamegawa, on the other hand, plays a steady and supportive role, often acting as the emotional anchor that balances Kannawa’s insecurities. This dynamic makes their connection feel organic, allowing viewers to gradually invest in their growth as a pair. The characters themselves are another highlight. Kannawa is especially memorable, not because she’s overly unique, but because she’s relatable. Her social struggles and internal monologues add a layer of authenticity that many slice-of-life romances strive for but don’t always achieve. Kamegawa complements her well, offering a calm and understanding presence without overshadowing her development. Together, they create a believable and engaging duo that carries the series. The overall tone of the anime is light and relaxing, making it an easy watch. There’s a deliberate avoidance of heavy drama or unnecessary conflict, which contributes to its “comfort anime” appeal. Instead of tension, the series focuses on everyday moments in the office, turning simple interactions into emotionally satisfying scenes. This approach makes it ideal for viewers looking for something soothing rather than intense. Another positive aspect is its restraint when it comes to common genre pitfalls. The series avoids excessive fanservice and doesn’t rely heavily on exaggerated tropes. Even when it leans into familiar setups, it handles them with a degree of subtlety that keeps the experience grounded. However, the show is not without its flaws. A major issue lies in its repetition. Many episodes follow a similar pattern: Kannawa becomes flustered, a misunderstanding occurs, and the situation resolves with a small, heartwarming moment. While this formula works initially, it becomes predictable over time, reducing the impact of later scenes. Additionally, the anime struggles to leave a lasting impression. Despite its charm, it doesn’t offer many standout moments that linger after finishing the season. It’s enjoyable in the moment, but it lacks the emotional peaks or narrative twists that would make it truly memorable. Another point of criticism is its lack of originality. While it executes its ideas competently, it doesn’t bring anything particularly new to the table. The workplace romance setting and awkward-senpai dynamic are familiar territory, and the series rarely steps outside of these boundaries. Finally, the animation is serviceable but unremarkable. While the backgrounds are often pleasant and well-detailed, character movements and expressions can feel somewhat stiff or robotic at times. This doesn’t ruin the experience, but it does limit the emotional expressiveness of certain scenes, especially those that rely on subtle facial cues. In the end, Bukiyou na Senpai is a gentle, character-driven romance that excels in creating a cozy atmosphere and believable relationships, even if it occasionally falls into repetition and lacks a distinctive edge.

My Awkward Senpai is a workplace romance centered around a mentor and her junior. The mentor is a strict and serious woman who can seem scary to the other employees because of how demanding she is when it comes to work. However, the new junior she is assigned to guide isn't intimidated by her. Instead, he understands her personality, respects her, and even looks up to her. The anime mainly focuses on the relationship between the two as they gradually become closer and eventually start developing feelings for each other. Some of their interactions genuinely made me giggle, especially when the romance becomes more apparent. I also like how the story flows continuously rather than feeling like each episode is completely separated from the previous one. It makes their relationship and development feel more natural as the story progresses. The animation and art are pretty decent overall. I especially like the character designs, and I really like azusa's eyes, they give them a lot of charm. Overall, it's a simple but enjoyable workplace romance with cute interactions and a pleasant story progression.

Yeah, yeah... it's just another basic romance anime; nothing special, same cliche, at least it didn't annoyed me with some quirky character, but it's still not fun to watch. The romance is not so well developed, you go thoughout the series not caring much for our main duo, to be fair, the scenes with "Azusa" alone with herself is more enjoyable than anything on the show, she's still not a great character, but at least she is grounded and easy to go along with, as well as "Yuu". Althought still being boring, it's comfy and easy to watch, so it can serve as a tool to calm down, it have it's purpose, so I can recommend it as a good waste of time.

My Awkward Senpai is a super chill romcom that focuses on awkward but sweet workplace interactions. The awkwardness is actually the main charm it feels relatable and can make you smile without even realizing it. The character chemistry feels natural. Those small, clumsy interactions are what make it enjoyable not over the top, but still hits in a subtle way. There are also some wholesome moments that feel warm, even if they’re not super dramatic. That said, the story is really simple. There’s no big conflict, so it can feel a bit flat at times. Some episodes also feel a little repetitive since the interactions follow a similar pattern. Animation-wise, it’s pretty standard not bad, but nothing special. The pacing is slow and relaxed, which works well if you’re just looking for something easy to watch. Overall, it’s a light, chill anime that’s easy to enjoy. Not amazing, but still solid. 7/10 👍
