Reborn as a Cat
Nekomotto
,,Transformed into a Cat" is a 10 minutes chinese style CGI animation consisting of thematically different 2 parts over the course of 36 episodes. (So effectively a total watchtime of 6 hours unless you watch the 4-min opening and ending.) This animation is clearly not the best out there, but it is digestible enough to kill some time with it. [Graphic] This anime is made with a strange type of CGI graphic that looks like certain recent chinese online games. It actually might be even the same tool behind the scenes. While this style probably allows to create this anime with a low budged, it shows glaring limitations especially when it comes to animating emotional scenes in which a character cries. It is as if a toggle ,,teary eyes" is switched on or off, but no actual tears are rolling. This style makes a lot of characters, things or scenes just look ,,fake". But on the other side, it is something that you can get used to for the most part. Just know that this is what you are getting into here. [Logic] Now if you look for an anime that logically follows its own worldbuilding, then look elsewhere. ,,Transformed into a Cat" is driven by plotholes and plotarmor and - more often than not - throws logic out of the window, just to create ,,drama" and make the story ,,interesting". This includes your typical situations of characters conveniently ,,coincidally" being at a certain place at a certain time, no matter if it makes sense or not. Even if the character in question is actually supposed to be arrested, fired or otherwise taken into custody. The first flaw even appears in episode 1, in which (contrary to what the synopsis says) the main character does not fall from a building but gets teleported away from the top into free fall, and then get forced into accepting getting transformed into a cat. Yes, ,,transformed". There is no ,,reborn" as a cat in this anime. [Story] As mentioned above, this anime pretty much consists of 2 thematically different parts. This makes it feel like there are actually 2 seasons here in one anime. The first one part is pretty much what the synopsis says, in which the Main Character struggles through her forced life as a cat at times and as a human at other times. And of course at unwilling changes between these 2 states, which might happen with inconvenient or convenient timing. All with her 100-days-limit in front of her eyes. This whole situation, however, is completely different in the 2nd part. The whole baseline of the story changes and there is no more cat-human switching, which you might hate or love. Just be aware that there is a significant shift in the story. The 2nd part begins at around episode 20-ish. Going into details of the 2nd part here would count as spoiler, so I can not say more at this point. [Audio] I really hope that you like the ending song, because that one is used over and over and over again and again. [Episode-setup] As mentioned above, each episode consists of about 10 minutes of actual content. Each episode starts with a 2:10 minutes opening and finishes with an ending that also lasts about 2 minutes. Therefore from each 14-minutes-episode you need to subtract 4 minutes for opening and ending. This said, after the opening, each episode just starts straight in without any recap and ends without a preview. So there really is 10 minutes of actual new content. The end of each episode feels very cut-off though. It is less of a cliffhanger but more of a straight cut of a video that is supposed to go on for longer and then slapped the ending behind it. Most episodes do not have any sort of ending climax or ending fade-out. They just... end. [Conclusion] If you can ignore the seemingly AI-generated GCI graphic style and the utter lack of logic and coherency in the world of this anime, don't mind the short 10-minutes episode length with sudden cut-offs, and are curious about a story about a girl that randomly changes between cat and girl, then you will find yourself a good anime to kill time here. However, if you look for an anime that makes emotional scenes actually *feel* emotional, want a proper animation without CGI in which characters do not randomly jiggle in the background just because it was an option in the CGI-settings, or want an anime that actually respects its own setup of rules and events, then you should looks elsewhere. Because it might be a very frustrating watch for you. Personally I did find this anime ,,interesting", but probably not something that I will rewatch.

I don't remember HOW on earth I landed on this one... Probably because I consume Isekai like it was Papa John's Pizza. MmmHmmm! Still, the fact that I had to wait for 36 10 minute eps to drop... again, it's amazing that I am here. OHHHHH I KNOW WHY THIS ANIME CAUGHT ME!!! Miaomiao. Yep, Miaomiao. I think she's adorable. Yep. So I watched and watched and just wanted to see Miaomiao happy. Poor Miaomiao DESERVES to be HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!! yadda yadda yadda... I liked the side characters too. The opening song is an earworm. Even if you hate it at first, you'll be humming it later. That's about it.
