Overpowered main character + busty anime girls (and a loli) + a fun and simple premise + great animation. What does that equal? A low score. What a shocker... Get a grip people, this show is great. The main character isn't perfect, regardless of stereotypes. Physically, he is definitely overpowered; but it's heartwarming to see his innocence and strive for growth on the mental side. The same goes for all three of the girls, as they all have their own reasons for being who they are. For such an underrated anime, the animation is incredibly well done. No CGI, not much stiff frames, just a pure work of art that you can tell the studio put a lot of effort into. The comedy is well-timed (bonus for me, I love anything can makes me laugh), and the fan service is, um...very entertaining. (yeah, I liked it. Sue me). A great anime for fantasy lovers, so give it a watch.

Kizetsu Yuusha to Ansatsu Hime: This is supposed to be trash, right? (Part 1, Summer 2025 Edition) Kizetsu Yuusha to Ansatsu Hime (The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses) is an anime with a silly premise that was no different from the other pathetic male leads but somehow intriguing to me. The story follows an overpowered, Bocchi-coded introverted hero named Toto, who struggles to find a party group due to his extreme shyness and only acts cool in his imagination. Fortunately, it did not last long because three princesses requested Toto to join their hero party: a daughter of the demon king, a professional assassin, and a dominatrix, all aiming for The Shy Hero's head. The poster’s character designs looked appealing, and the in-anime versions thankfully lived up to them. The animations were not in those S-tier action shounen blockbusters, but they were still in the decent category. In fact, there were some sakuga cuts that exceeded my expectations. The story was simple and predictable just by looking at the title; however, it was enjoyable at the same time. The fainting jokes and the princesses arguing with each other were never not funny at all. The anime surprisingly had some wholesome moments that I genuinely love. Minor spoiler alert: Unpopular opinion, but Toto's introduction as an introverted, anti-social boy was totally brilliant. He literally asked the most generic question THREE TIMES to all girls when being alone together with zero topics: "Where are the other girls?" That's THE introverted MC. Props to the author Yukiji Setsuda for actually writing that. In conclusion, this anime is dumb, and I loved it. It's either extremely funny that you could lose your laugh box or stupidly unfunny that you will get a migraine (+ Mood: Awful). Watch it.

I must say this was an EXTREMELY fun series from start to finish with some AMAZING character development. Most comedy anime are pretty similar and that's not a bad thing because it works in the element of the story 9 times out of 10. This particular anime does really well at being comedic with the OP MC who Faints around women, and the seriousness of each characters struggle with their own problems in life. I am a sucker for some good character development at the end of the day and not only did I get that BUT I also got a hilarious comedy plot with it as well! If you are looking for a fun anime with some surprising character development thrown into the mix then I DEF recommend The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses. I SOO hope we get a S2!

The shy Hero fainting. Well this much is ceirtanly clear. I don't know what's up with these comedy centered anime and the characters inside them having some of the most ridiculously tragic backstories, but it's not that i mind. As long as the character actually uses that groundowork. Well,do they? Eh.... So-so. The animation in this one is not bad at all. But it's doesn't have to show all that much either. The short fight with the old man was where it peaked. The Divine beast boogaloo wasn't bad either in that aspect. Now... let's adress the biggest weakness of this show. The MC. Zero personality, confusing motivations, and OP to boot. A walking plot device that only helps the journey continue. Because there's not really any story either(the other issue, not as big though). I mean they could've kept the main gimmick while also giving Toto an actual personality. But they did compensate by giving the girls all the personality.Ciel is the best and most likeable character of the three. And on that note..... There's no ammount of convincing that can persuade me about Goa.An intrestring character but a horrible person. I mean you can attempt a redemption but it ain't gonna work . Gods only know how many people she already hit with that reset button. As i've already mentioned, there's not much of a story. The show focuses on the journey and what that journey unveils about the characters and their goals and motivations. "Is any of that worth it" kind of deal. To that extent it does a decent enough job, even though they hit that switch up real hard in the last episodes. To that extent a 7 rating really hits the sweet spot. It doesn't do much, but what it does it does well. But anything above required a story to supplement the journey. And anything below required... quite a lot.I do have to praise them for sticking with at least half the gimmick to the end. All in all,it's an allright show. You could spend your time watching far worse, but looking hard enough will yield better shows. Recommended.

This anime works well. Somewhat. The plot hook of the "all the female characters are actually assassins trying to kill the MC", offering a slightly new twist to the usual fantasy plus OP hero plus harem formula, could've quickly become stale and boring or degenerate into the girls forgetting their motivations and engage in the usual fawning competition for the MC, which is what I had expected, but is actually well-executed. More importantly, the show allows for a few moments of heartfelt character development, demonstrating that the authors cared at least enough to produce a somewhat entertaining anime. Now, as for the MC, at first I thought the continuous fainting every time the girls did something "ecchi" would've become boring before long, but it has its value, and the show uses it smartly and with purpose. It's actually what makes it possible for the other characters to do their thing. Also, our hero does find ways to avoid fainting, so you don't get irritating scenes with the MC being useless when needed the most. The girls are nice, and they have somewhat interesting backstories and motivations that make them more than walking tropes, but their designs are nothing impressive. Anemone is a rip-off from Black Lagoon, and Ciel, the white-haired loli demon, is just a generic white-haired loli demon. Goa, on the other hand, truly stands out, both in her design, motivations, and character depth and development, although Ciel also has a couple of moments. As for the rest of the cast, well, there are no other relevant characters, besides maybe one villain who manages to last a little longer. Consequently, the world of the show feels inevitably empty and flat. Indeed, the worldbuilding itself is just the Nth RPG-fantasy knockoff, with dungeons, monsters, adventurers, a Demon Lord, etc., and the MC one-punches through most obstacles with little to no effort, his own party members being the biggest threat. Overall, unfortunately, the show still doesn't manage to scrape past the 6.5/7. The thing is, it does the bare minimum to raise a little bit above the usual fantasy slop, but not enough to find its place next to genuinely compelling anime from the past season like Silent Witch or Water Magician. The production value is mid, the art is okay, the idea is decent, but on top of the issues I already pointed out, such a gimmick can only be milked so much, and if we ever see a second season, which I highly doubt, there's a good chance the show will implode on its own premises.

"Literally one of the best summer show in terms of senseless humor and comedy " Usually people ignore these kind of tropes or they don't even start it , straight up judging from poster or asking for reviews from others . Glad i found this amazing sh!t , enjoyed to the fullest just like watching grand blue fanatsy version . The most amazing thing i liked are visuals and eye catching art style , no cgi monsters , no weird background just pure 2d work . The op is a banger too literally too much underrated , people need to listen it (https://youtu.be/KwokenvxcbM?si=HwrZMBpJ0Aen8Gn0). The other thing i liked character development , every character tried to evolve in a better self . Looking forward for a promising 2nd season .

Well, a bit unloved. I'm not going to say that this is a hidden gem, but it does have more than it meets the eye. First, MC and story. The story is about an OP guy with almost none social skill but with a good heart. Not much else to say after S1, he offers what our broken girls need, kindness. Has a sad past. His goal is to gain confidence, he want to do it by becoming an adventurer and killing the demon lord. 2 FMC Mone and Ciel wants to kill him, and the third, Goa wants to make him her pet. Now, the FMCs: Mone, a rough mercenary with a bad past, a rude and violent tsundere (it doesn't applies to our mc luckly) with good heart. Goa, a sadistic and slutty girl that acts cute in front of everyone, also has a bad past. Ciel, the kid that tries to act mature but constantly fails, also bad past. The romance is kinda there, but really far back, not the main point so far. The main point of the story is about fixing the waifus, and we see how our MC and between the girls, they help each other to do it. The story isn't going to blow your mind, but the underrated part of the story is the interactions between the girls, it feels organic and how they slowly change makes it enjoyable. So, this is just an adventure with a hint of romance and 3 quirks that are it's main selling. The waifus trying to kill the MC, our inept yet OP MC and the interactions between the girls every time our MC isn't on screen. Pretty easy to watch unless you hate waifus with big Ts, thing that is becoming pretty common nowadays.

Shows like this is why I still give anything at 6 stars MAL and above a try. And honestly, this is one of the most severely under-rated I've watched. The story is simple, and goofy. In contrast of many shows I've watched, where the studio fumbles to various degree, of a great idea with horrendous execution, this stood firmly in the opposite. This show surrounds one simple, slap-stick idea, one that you wouldn't realistically fathom how a 12 episode anime could be squeezed with any amount of enjoyability. Yet they delivered a natural progressing story, fluid character development, with a story line that stays consistent, believable, immersive and enjoyable. This is by no means a high budget kind of show, but it definitely tried to make the most of what was given. This kind of care and quality is a rarity in the sloppy world of fantasy anime. It feels like a labour of passion. A show that was properly polished. Many simply don't. Even better rated shows, lacked this refinement, carried more by the great ideas from their source material, rather than efforts from the production studio. This isn't going to be a show for everybody, there's nothing fancy, nor grand. But it is for certain, not one that disrespect its viewers with laziness. There was genuine talent and effort to make a decent show, and is something that should be encouraged.

The story is simple and enjoyable. It follows a protagonist who is bad at communicating with others and unable to form a party. Three girls approach him wanting to join his team, but the twist is that all of them secretly have the goal of assassinating him. The anime focuses more on comedy than seriousness. The protagonist is naïve yet physically strong, which drives most of the humor. Unlike many anime, the strength of this series lies more in its individual episodic stories rather than long, multi-episode arcs, mainly because the characters are more interesting than the overarching narrative. Episodes 1 to 6 are all stand-alone stories, and this half was the most enjoyable, featuring comedic situations and individual character-focused episodes. Episodes 7 to 12 rely more on continuous storytelling, with roughly one event every two episodes. However, these arcs were not very enjoyable due to weak writing. When the story stretches for too long, its flaws become more apparent. The female characters are fun: a demon, an assassin, and a poison specialist. Their interactions are enjoyable, and they each have solid backstories that explain their behavior and add depth to their personalities. Most episodes focus on their growing bond as a group. Unfortunately, the protagonist’s character is underdeveloped. I don’t mind him being foolish or naïve, but I want to understand his past and motivations. These were only mentioned briefly, with no clear explanation of the scar on his face or how he lost his family. The ending was simple and predictable, with no real development for the protagonist, he ends the series the same way he began.

Kizetsu Yuusha to Ansatsu Hime is very much the kind of dumb, slapstick anime that pushes many people away but rewards those who stay. Everything about this anime is just 'good enough' to meet the most basic quality standards for a wide array of audiences in every category. The characters? Good. The music? Good. The art style? Good. The voice acting? Also, good. The only exception to being just plain 'good' that I've seen so far are the humor and the emotional impact of the feels later on. Both of which I would call great because the anime's pacing really allow for a wide variety of both dumb and impactful moments that make me personally happy that I finally found time to check this title off of my watchlist. The Shy Hero will never be everybody's hero, and it certainly falls a a little short when compared to some of the giants in the industry like One Punch Man, but it is a good, quality anime that is just dumb enough to be worth watching if you have a couple of brain cells to burn.

The agon in this anime is the main male lead overcoming his social anxiety, not princesses being able to assassinate the hero, which completely negates all the character development they receive by being beside the hero and other party members. Characters expect for the child-like white hair (seen in the poster), are good drawn, they would be beautiful to be exact, yet the they were forced to equip those disproportional huge chests and supposedly hourglass waist which does not ring the bell in my mind (assuming it was the intention). The environmental design is barren, it’s screams low budget. Since, it’s an anime that revolves around male being surrounded by girls, making the male protagonist getting unconscious after every thirst trap reduces the amount of second-hand cringe. This show despite being an another world fantasy harem anime, is not only flawed because it’s a harem anime (referencing The Eminence in Shadow, that anime can be considered one of the harem anime pinnacles) but because it lacks resolution. Noticeable one after another rushed scenes that disrupts the narrative, but the pacing does not get abrupt cuts. And at last, this one has a beach and a dress shopping scene just like any other isekai genre, if you did not expect it already.

I must admit I am disappointed. This work seems to lack a clear direction. It fails to decide whether it wants to be comedic or dramatic, resulting in an inconsistent tone. The biggest issue lies in the superficial development of the characters, who constantly return to the status quo after any change in opinion. The irony is making this the central joke of the manga, with the assassins always reverting to their goal of eliminating him. Although it is tempting to speculate that the protagonist is already aware of the situation, it is difficult to confirm with certainty. In reality, the narrative seems to primarily use him as a catalyst for the growth of the three girls, setting itself up more as a story about the trio of assassins developing a friendship through a 'common goal.' The protagonist is interesting in his own right, but he barely interacts. The author appears to be intentionally withholding any direct development concerning him for a later point in the story, which makes the reading quite frustrating at the moment.

This anime was honestly a really fun ride. I enjoyed the idea behind it, and it felt different enough to keep me curious. The characters are likable, and their interactions make the story easy to get into. The pacing was smooth – not too slow, not too rushed – so it never felt boring. The sound and music were nice and added to the atmosphere, even if they weren’t the most memorable part of the show. What stood out more for me was how the mix of action and lighthearted moments kept things entertaining. Overall, I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys fantasy with a fun cast and a story that’s easy to watch. It might not be groundbreaking, but it’s definitely enjoyable, and I’m already looking forward to the next season.

Personal stats: as of Sep 2025, I have completed 191 anime with a mean score of 7.33. The Shy Hero score: 7/10. This anime is such an underrated gem! I think a lot of people sleep on it because the premise and the first couple of episodes make it seem like a silly, generic series where the MC is just surrounded by quirky girls. But if you stick with it, you’ll see it’s much more than it first appears. As the story progresses, the comedy stays, but the plot becomes deeper and more meaningful. It isn’t just about goofy assassination attempts or girls fawning over the MC - it’s really about the relationships between people. More importantly, it’s about people who seem completely different on the surface, but are all broken in their own ways and searching for acceptance. That’s what makes them relatable. Everyone is fighting their own battles and chasing their own dreams, and in that sense, we’re not so different after all. I’m not spoiling anything by saying that -it’s a detail you only really start to feel as the episodes go on. For anyone who dismissed this as a throwaway, silly show: give it a chance. I truly hope it gets a second season, because it deserves one. The low ratings don’t reflect its heart; they just show that most people never looked past the surface.

The story is about an OP shy hero with 3 assassins as the name suggests. This might throw you off feeling it is just a junk anime. But the humor and depth of characters and the metaphors for the human emotions shown by the characters are superb. Story - They take a normal plot and use the assassin element along with hyperboles to develop a story that is fun, heart warming and has some thought provoking ideas about human emotions. The hyperboles get repetitive sometimes and the overall plot progress is slow despite each episode being fun. Animation - The animation is decent and makes it a fun watch. The show is entertaining. It has a some harem element which might make it not fun for people who do not like that genre. But if you ignore that, there is a warm slice of life adventure story hidden beneath.

I am pleasantly surprised. With a gimmick like this, it tends to be very boring at the end. Heck, it should be boring in the second episode, but they surprised me. How did I find this? I actually want to watch anything. ANYTHING that came from Muse Asia. I've said it in my DanDaDan review that they purposely delayed 2 anime in their hand and released this. So, I was like, "You know what? Fine, I'll humor you", and watched the show. Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?) My intention is clear. I just want to watch something from Muse Asia, but to be honest, before even watching it, I kind of like the art style a bit. They look very different from the rest of the anime airing in this season. Platform Muse Asia, Animax Korea, Bahamut Taiwan, Catchplay, Crunchyroll, and MeWatch Singapore. The review; Plot/Story 1 OP hero, and 3 women trying to kill him, going on an adventure. That is the whole plot of this anime. Hear me out here. That is a bullshit premise. Let me give you the real premise. 1 OP hero, 1 demon loli princess trying to enjoy life outside her castle, 1 REAL assassin that is actually very nice and kind toward everyone, and 1 sadistic woman who wants a strong man to be her pet, going on a journey that changes their lives. But more toward the girls! I gave you this real premise because, at first glance, that first premise felt like a mislead. Once you watch the whole thing, it's mostly wholesome and humorous. . Though I have to point out that the story leaned sooooo much toward Ciel, the demon loli princess, life's. I get it, though; she is the demon lord's daughter, and the main goal of the journey is to kill her dad. Of course, she is going to get a big spotlight in the anime, but that doesn't mean Goa, the sadist woman, and Anemone, the real assassin, have to be away from some spotlight. They are as important as the Ciel. Now, I know the two have their spotlight in some episodes, but the whole series felt like Ciel's story, NGL. Character Get this, guys! I haven't said anything about the hero being too timid. Seriously, the gimmick was that every time he got embarrassed, whenever the girls teased him, he would faint. That joke got repeated a lot and feels so dry so quickly. But that's the thing! I feel like you have to get bored with the hero. Same as Saitama from OPM. He has never been the center of attention, even in his anime. What you are watching here is the girls trying to be a better self. When you get bored with the gimmick, eventually you find yourself focusing on the girls' stories. Bonus point at the end, eventually, you're also going to care about Toto, the hero. . Trust me, the gimmick is so boring, but when you can bear it, you're actually eating a decent meal. OST/SFX OP is ehm... Something. 😂 I'm just going to say one thing... Dangdut. Have you heard about that music genre? It's popular here in Indonesia, and that opening song sounded so much like. It's very easy to get into the song and dance alongside it. ED sounded very good, too. Very chill, actually. And the OST in the anime itself is also great. Two Thumbs Up! Animation It's not too bad, and it's not too good either. It's decent and it's very much watchable. Now, it's been a decade since I watched something from the Connect animation studio. In fact, the only anime I've watched from this studio was Strike the Blood. Based on that anime and this anime, their animation is still the same. I remember vividly that they did great with the action on StB, and they also did great on this project, which is very awesome to hear and see. VA Don't have a lot to say, so Two Thumbs Up! The conclusion; The good I'm glad I stuck around until the end. That ending was something that I would never forget. Love the Goa's arc. The bad I want to watch season 2. I don't want to read it. I'm not joking. Please make that happen! Graditude Thanks, Muse Asia, for providing this anime for free to watch on YouTube. I appreciate the effort, even though you guys messed up the other two anime's schedules. Overall 7.7/10 Good show. Not really bad. It's a decent watch. I want to recommend this if anyone is interested.

This anime left me conflicted — it’s both good and bad at the same time. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a lighthearted fantasy where you can turn off your brain and relax, but I can’t give it more than a 6/10. The premise sounds amusing and had great potential to be genuinely funny, but unfortunately the show didn’t commit to that direction. Worse, the initial setup was a mess — full of nonsense that even “turning your brain off” can’t prevent you from getting annoyed. There were endless ways to explain the premise, but it felt like the creators either rushed it or were too lazy to think of something. That said, while the anime started off as a 5/10 experience, it slowly improved, and the second half is closer to a 7/10. The humor never fully landed, but the character development of the four main characters — especially the Hero — was surprisingly well done. Oddly enough, I actually find myself hoping for a second season.

A great concept, let down by its uninteresting characters. The MC is too much of a dork. And they made the female characters fall for him way too early. I also feel its trying to be too comedic. And maybe it should have balanced out seriousness and humor. Or maybe its just the story thats bad. It tries to be comedic but it isnt that funny. The hero is very shy and always passes out when a girl flirts with him. Thats the joke... The romance is very ehh. Its your typical anime romance where characters are shocked when a guy says something as basic as "i will protect you". Its so dull to sit through. Combat is also boring. Basically everything about this anime is just mediocre.

Alluring art style and theme. No game relations or RPG stuff, except for the dungeon thing but it's fine. Two of the heroines have a ridiculous repertoire specially that assassin one but I guess the author had a hard time thinking of some other kind of assassination method, but to call it with magic sure is ridiculous. All in all it was still funny, although the fact that the hero is actually weak to their female advances kind of bums me slightly. Despite that everyone is decently characterized and the development is kind of sweet towards the end which is kind of expected to make it interesting but it doesn't seem like the point of the show won't come at all. Not in this season that is.

Women Can't Resist Shy Muscle Men The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses Is a about how drugs, guns and Magic just, isn't enough to kill the shy beefcake. The humour never got old for me, him constantly fading from the girl sexuality or cuteness. The girls taunting and provoking each other, and slowly becoming friends, it so funny. The characters has some depth, That is interesting to get explored and trauma. It's just way better than you would expect from the title, it actually a good show. The character design is good and look distinct, and if you are a man that enjoy big breast then you are not going hungry tonight. the main characters is wholesome, and so enjoyable to watch, his interaction with the girls is just precious. Good character development and many laughs, would recommend
