You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends!

Every anime season features the resident trashy rom com, and in Winter 2026, "You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends!" rose to the challenge. This anime has just about every stereotype you can think of. Even the four main love interests for our MC are all character archetypes you have seen hundreds of times at this point. And the anime takes them at face value without even trying to break free from those stereotypes. To be fair, that can absolutely work sometimes, but that's not even what makes watching this anime so frustrating. The main issue is that the main character is about as dense as you can get, which is also a classic rom com trait, but he truly takes the cake. It's painfully obvious that his childhood friends have a crush on him, yet he constantly deludes himself by saying there's no way he would be in a rom com with his childhood friends. And yes, that's both a meta joke and the whole point of the show, but my god is it frustrating to watch. It's one of those anime that could have concluded after three episodes by going the harem route or choosing one of them, but of course "Eiyu," our main character, does none of this. Instead, the show keeps the story going by having a phone ring just when things start going somewhere. Or someone bursts in at just the wrong moment. Anything to stop real character development and the plot from advancing. Eventually we end up with four different love interests, all of them his childhood friends, and our main character keeps deluding himself into oblivion. And without spoiling too much, the anime ends with the same status quo, as nothing really happens. They all clearly like him, but he responds by saying that he treasures them all as childhood friends. And then the season concludes without answering anything. There are plenty of ecchi scenes as well, and you can expect every scenario your usual run of the mill rom com would have. The summer festival episode with fireworks, the school sports event with the scavenger hunt, and so on. In conclusion, it was certainly not a bad anime by any means, but there are hundreds, if not thousands, of works out there just like this. If you have seen one, you have seen all of them. I liked the opening, and some episodes had solid romantic moments, but they obviously lead to nothing. There are even kisses on the mouth that lead to absolutely nothing, which genuinely puzzled me. How can even a kiss lead to no progression in romance? All in all, a very frustrating experience from start to finish that has some redeeming moments but ends up painfully average. I would not really recommend watching this, as there are so many better shows out there. But if you're looking for a rom com that is as stereotypical as it gets and leans into the harem direction with a generous amount of fanservice, this might be for you.

If you've seen a review of the anime called "Girlfriend, Girlfriend" by me, then you know what I'm about to say. Yup! I love this kind of shit. You see, I'm very open to many anime genres. RomCom is one of the genres I always seek. You know why? A lot of hidden gems are from this genre. It's a genre that makes you laugh because of how ridiculous the plot is. You can't take this shit seriously; you just enjoy the ride. Anyway, let's start the review. How did I find this? Kito senpai promoted it on his YouTube short. Not only that, but Chibi Review also shouted this anime up. I was curious. Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?) It has come to my attention that the RomCom harem sub-genre that has a childhood friend in the story never wins. So, hearing all of the girls in this story are, in fact, the MC's childhood friends made me even more curious. Platform Animax Korea (South Korea), Aniplus Asia (Southeast Asia), Bahamut Anime Crazy (Taiwan), and Crunchyroll. The review; Plot/Story Simple harem RomCom story, but the girls are all the MC's childhood friends. The girl with blue hair, Shio, loves teasing the MC, Eiyuu, with his own fantasy. She teased him by doing a reenactment of a romcom that he read. The girl with orange hair, Akari, is a Tsundere. Though I felt like it was really forced tsundere. I don't know how to describe it. The purple-haired girl, Runako, is the sister type. Well, she is literally one year younger than Shio, Akari, and Eiyuu, so she is, in fact, feels like a little sister. And the last is the airhead girl with magenta hair, named Haru. She is the tomboy character of the roster. Those are the girls of this series. The plot? It's your average/typical story. I don't think I need to spell it out for you. It's silly enough to get me interested. Character Charming. In this kind of story, I don't really think much of the character growth, since it's a heavy comedy series. Unless there is a major plot, like TQQ. OST/SFX The OP just grabbed me, man. The catchy lyrics are dangerous. It felt like pulling me inside. Out of the OP from this season's anime, UIPolOps, and this has to take the lead. The ED is very charming, too, in its own way. The OST/SFX in the anime itself. Two Thumbs Up! Animation Tezuka... Oh, buddy, we meet again. I can just feel it! If this gets another season, they will throw it to another studio. Please! If this anime gets another season, please treat it like Terrace Goddess. Don't you dare do it like TQQ or GF, GF! You already get the charm for the series; I want you guys to maintain it. VA Two Thumbs Up! The conclusion; Enjoyable For me, yeah. This is also one of the anime that I watch weekly and never miss. It's just a great feeling watching it. Worthable Not really, especially for the "modern audience". I have to say this because it will validate my opinion if people ever want to use that confused emoji on my review. Delivery Average. I mean, it's watchable and has minimal animation, so I don't really have any problem with it. OG Sauce It was in K-Manga if you don't know. I might want to pick it up. I'm curious about what it will become after the anime. Overall 8.7/10 A great time waster. I like it more than I expected.

In my opinion, the story of this anime is pretty mid overall. The plot doesn’t feel very special and sometimes it even feels boring. The main character can also be really annoying at times, which makes it harder to enjoy the story. Some of his decisions and reactions just don’t feel natural, and because of that the comedy and drama don’t always work as well as they should. However, there is one thing that kept me watching the whole anime, and that is Shio. For me, Shio is easily the best part of the entire show. Her personality, expressions, and the way she interacts with the other characters are much more entertaining than the main story itself. Every time she appears, the episode becomes more enjoyable. Honestly, the main reason I finished watching this anime was because of Shio. Without her character, the series would feel much more boring and forgettable. Compared to the rest of the cast, she stands out the most and brings the most charm to the show. Aside from Shio, there really isn’t anything particularly special about this anime.

Let me start out first and foremost by saying that i am not a fan of harem anime. i much more lean towards grounded mature romances between two characters (wow that sounds so pretentious but i cant word it any other way so oops). This show is pretty much the exact opposite of what i want in a show. someone with different taste than me might feel differently. with that all being said- I'm using this as an outlet for my frustration with this show. OH MY GOSH THEY'RE ALL SO ANNOYING. How do you possible create a show where every single character is this frustrating to watch? So purpose built specifically to PISS ME OFF. the whole premise is that the MC is obsessed with rom-coms (same) but doesn't feel like he could ever have a romance with his childhood friends. there. thats the whole show. at the end of the first season we are in the same spot as when we started. This leads to every single character having little to no growth and feeling as frustrated as when the show started. they're all aware of each other's feelings towards MC and yet no-one has the gonads to actually do anything about it. they'd all just rather sit around with their thumbs up their butts than do a single constructive thing. I was rooting for a certain girl to win (as we all do) and my choice was the Tsundere ginger girl whose name i thankfully can no longer remember. (it has been no more than 3 days and the character's names in this show are so thankfully gone from my memory). long story short she ends up in the most intimate situation of anyone in the entire show thanks to some tusndere antics which obv we all love to see. at this point im thinking "oh wow there is literally no possible way for someone to barge in and ruin this moment. their phones are dead, they're in a hotel far away from home, and to my utter shock tsundere makes a move. YIPPEEEE i think to myself. a fatal error. never expect movement in this show. she snuggles up to MC and says those fated words. "I love you". MC hears and is confused. says they could never be in a rom com together and they fall asleep in each others arms. Long story short again tsundere tsunderes and we have arrived back at square one. nothing happens. nothing changes. they simply move on like nothing ever happened. all this to say your choice of who to root for to win is pointless. One of the girls doesn't even show up until the shows practically over. MC feels flat and like a self insert for those anime fans who can't find the courage in their hearts to talk to a real life woman. the full roster is full of tropes and more than a little boring. i saw a comment before i started the show about how "the childhood friend can't lose if they're all the childhood friend". and yet somehow they all manage to lose, but the biggest loser was unfortunately me for getting my hopes up. *Thank you for coming to my ted talk.*

Wow. "You Can't Be in a Rom-Com With Your Childhood Friends" is exactly what people who criticize anime imagine... and I love it! This anime is very absurd, horny, and unrealistic, but it's fun to watch and take seriously as a rom-com. As it gets closer to its final episode, the stakes get higher and higher, and the drama only becomes more and more ridiculous, but I'm glad I watched this late into the season so I could watch it slowly and make it to the end without waiting. The animation style is simple but approachable. This is one you watch for the comedy and drama of it, even if it is very over the top. This anime isn't for everyone, but it very much was for me. If you're into needlessly lewd and horny anime that never becomes too inappropriate but is always teasing you, this is right up your alley. This show has revitalized my love for anime, reminding me it doesn't need to always be a hero on an epic quest, but it can also be a cute and flirtatious forest fire of a show.

The first anime I watched while it was airing. Every week I'd come back and think "Surely it will turn around" but no it didn't. It's not a "generic harem" it's not a "hidden gem" and it's certainly not good. I sometimes watch shows others label as bad, because they could maybe be entertaining in their own way, or are dismissed because people can be stickler's for one type of show for no good reason. This however falls into the so boring it's bad category. Here are my thoughts, hopefully they help you decide to pass on this show. Story: ---------- The premise is that Eiyu grew up with various childhood friends revealed in flashbacks once they're introduced and they're all young ladies now. He has also matured and now, as a teenage boy, has feelings for girls. The girls like him back, but he feels he never has a chance. Shio (supposedly) and Akari are trying to show him how they feel about him and to get something serious going. This is one of those shows that resets to the status quo always. It's not like a sitcom where the episodes are self contained and funny. It's linear, occasionally funny, but yet goes nowhere. The finale was perhaps the worst I've seen in any anime (even my most hated) because it's just so bizarre and feels like filler despite being the show's culmination. A big problem is that girls never compete with each other over him. There sort of exists this "Gentlewoman's Agreement" if you will that pursuing Eiyu can only occur within a set of vague rules, or with the consent of the other heroines. It's kind of uncanny how passive they are, and how concerned they are with each other's feelings over it. Akari and Shio in particular want to make sure they're competing on an even playing field. The show seems to be priming a "full harem" ending, but since it never goes anywhere, we don't get that. The show doesn't really do anything offensive, we don't have yarns connecting fetishes to characters or ship fuel and speculations. So there's never a moment of disgust in it. It's relatively wholesome compared to other ecchi harems. So I guess it has that going for it. Characters in order of how much I liked them: ----------------------------------------------------------- Haru: The token tomboy, She comes into the show far later than she should just to pad out the harem. She's supportive, likes to have fun, and wants the plot to resolve, which is how I also felt by the time she was introduced. It's unclear for most of the time she is on screen if she likes the protag despite her arguably getting more intimate with him than others. Unfortunately, it's not exciting. The show teases they they're going to do "It wasn't weird when we were younger and you thought I was a boy" type stuff initially, and you think it's going to be one of those "Relax, I'm just your bro...unless?" things, but it never goes there. A sort of low tension chill, friends to lovers is what the tomboy appeal is all about but the show refuses to lean into that. Isn't going to win any waifu awards, but was the tolerable character in the series. Akari: Token Tsundere. She actually seems to be the only one who seriously cares about dating Eiyu, but is far too passive about it. In real life, or with a smarter male lead, the show would have been over before the half way mark due to her being direct with her feelings. However, when she feels her feelings are not reciprocated, she backtracks them too early, allowing us to reset to the status quo which is frustrating. Another problem is She's way too tsun and not enough dere and the beats of her tsundere personality are way off. When she's dere, she's actually a nice character, but the dere moments come sparingly, last a long time when they do (it feels like the tsun is all an act) and the rest of the time she comes across as very bitchy and annoying. Still, she's probably second best since she's the only one that does anything meaningful. She also feels like a bit of a cuck. Other girls move in on the guy she likes while she obeys the apparent "off screen rules" I mentioned above, and when she finds out about it, doesn't seem to get super angry or upset, or even determined to make him like her more. She's sort of surprised by it and then laments that she hasn't gotten as far with him. There's even one point where it seems like she might win, but decides to make sure Shio is okay with it first and agrees to share the romantic moment with Eiyu with Shio as well. The girl is a few scenes away from setting up a stool in the corner to watch. Oh boy, these next set of characters are like dropping down from a 60/100 to 30/100 on your test scores. There's a huge gap between Haru/Akari to the other characters. Runa: Token Imouto. Now, this character I wanted to like when she was introduced. She comes in like a wrecking ball early, basically all but saying she's moving in with Eiyu and thus has claim to his virginity. She makes some aggressive first moves, causing Akari and Shio to try to get in the way of her and distract her from her goal (which isn't that hard), and you think she's going to be the main competitor since she's the next room over from Eiyu. She's in middle school however, and so the show decided that the idea of her being a serious competitor felt too weird even for them. So she's reduced to a side character, who on one hand, encourages Eiyu to "pick" one of them, but on the other hand, does nothing for herself and off screen seems to be content to wait. She's the standard harem "I show affection when the MC is down but am not seriously considered by him" type character, which makes her a bit more likeable since she seems to unconditionally love Eiyu even when the other girls think he's acting weird. Still to go from an 8 on the harem aggression scale down to a 1, is incredibly annoying. Shio: Token Deredere. At first it seems like she's going to be the driving force of the show, a dedicated Deredere bent on recreating scenes from Dating Sims Eiyu likes to play to get with him. She's shameless in a way where she has no issues with getting groped or grinded on if it means Eiyu gets bricked up and can just make her his woman already. However, she drops this approach fairly early on when she seems to decide off screen with Akari that neither of them are allowed to make any serious moves anymore. She breaks these rules every now and then though, and when she does make moves in a few arcs, it's like she doesn't even care about him. Without spoilers, the best I can say is that she's essentially a tease and not in an ecchi "flash panties" kind of way by the end of it, but a "just get out of the way and let Akari end up with him then" kind of way. She wants all the attention from Eiyu but doesn't want to actually care to be with him it seems, but neither is any other girl allowed to either. I never read the manga, but if it turns out that she's a cockblocking villain, or doesn't want Eiyu to put his time with her on the backburner by having a gf, I wouldn't be surprised. Eiyu: He makes other self-insert blank slates look like socially aware chads. The one, funny thing about him, is that he says the show's title all the time as an excuse for why he can't advance the plot. Eiyu has Shio and Akari throw themselves at him, and Runa is all but telling him to pick one and despite the most direct statements and hints literally a hair away from "Be my boyfriend", he just doesn't get it. He's just like "You can't be in love with your childhood friends" after every single direct move. It would be funny if he wasn't treating the whole situation like it requires deep contemplation and constant "But what does that mean though?". He even maybe tries making moves, gets interrupted, and then just sort of shrug his shoulders trying to forget about it. His feelings are treated seriously when it really shouldn't be. On that note, It's also unclear as to his exact feelings towards the girls. On one hand, it seems he only really …

Like isekai, harem romcoms get a bad rep. People will just assume all the same tropes and ignore any new shows. Some of those shows are hidden gems, or sometimes not even hidden, just good shows with a level of popularity. This anime...is not one of those. This anime takes a common trope, the childhood friend, and leans into that. It doesn't crank it up to eleven. It creates an incurable disease that spreads throughout the entire planet to destroy everyone's mind. They really want you to know that these characters are all childhood friends. It is imperative that you understand that all the characters are childhood friends. The world cannot exist without you knowing that they are childhood friends. Nothing else matters except that they are childhood friends. Everything else is pointless, just know that they are childhood friends. In case you've forgotten, they are all childhood friends. Did you forget already? They're childhood friends! Are you getting annoyed at this? Too bad, we're not even finished with episode 1 yet. Because if the writer couldn't come up with a line worth using, just throw that in there. And I guess the writer couldn't think of a line over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. What about the other tropes? Well, there's "trip and fall straight into a kiss". There's a tsundere, a "little sister" who actually isn't, and a tomboy. Who I think is my favorite. But she doesn't show up until like episode 8, so what to do until then? Enjoy the main character, the guy who develops an alternate personality that made me want to cause pain. To the show's credit, the girls do point out how unbelievably annoying it is. Because it is. And not in a funny or entertaining way. If "childhood friend" isn't burned into your memory, our schizophrenic main character does also often point out that he can't possibly have a romcom with them. If, you know, breaking the fourth wall over and over in the exact same way is your thing. And, to his credit, he's right. He's not in a romcom with his childhood friends. Because nothing in this show is funny. Not a single thing.

"Fear of Success" — that's exactly how I'd describe You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! The first several episodes are absolute fire. The romantic tension, each character's standout personality, the clever twists, and those killer fan service scenes had me completely hooked, eagerly waiting week after week for the next episode to drop. The story hits its peak in episode 6. But starting from episode 7, everything falls apart. By then the characters' emotions are already crystal clear —yet it feels like the author suddenly got cold feet about moving forward. Instead, it just spins its wheels, recycling the same feelings, confusions, and messy entanglements over and over. To top it off, the generous fan service that powered those early episodes almost completely vanishes. In the end, you're left with a painfully average anime. The kind you finish and forget about almost immediately —one that doesn't add anything meaningful to your life as a fan. I can't recommend it. There are thousands of other stories out there that are way more exciting, sexier, and will actually make your heart race. This one's just painfully mid. Nothing special.

Cringe. One word that comes to mind every time I finish an episode. This anime reminds me of old-school romcoms like NouCome, Kanojo ga Flag, Hensuki, and similar shows. Some situations even feel like they were intentionally created to open up opportunities for the romance to progress further. What makes me cringe is the sheer amount of cliche situations, pervert situations, followed by awkwardness afterward. And this keeps happening over and over again until the very end 🙃. Each heroine actually has her own unique story. The romance development was also pretty good at first. Each heroine gets her own aggressive moments that make the MC keep thinking about them afterward. The problem is how these moments end. Imagine the MC and a heroine going through all kinds of situations that should naturally push their relationship further, only for everything to be resolved as if nothing happened. If this only happened during the early episodes, I wouldn't really mind. But when it keeps happening all the way to the end, it becomes pretty frustrating because the romance feels like it's going nowhere. Despite that, I still enjoyed watching this anime because I actually have a weakness for cringe, chuuni, and awkward comedy like this. At some point, I didn't even really care anymore about which heroine the MC would choose lol. In the end, this is a romcom where the comedy is definitely the main focus, especially with the osananajimi dynamic. If you enjoy romcoms with cliche and generic plots (VERY generic lol), and just want something chill without too much drama, this anime is worth giving a try. Graphics: 5.8 Plot: 4 Romance: 6 Overall: 6.4 — Saya memang suka anime yang cringe/awkward, jadi kekurangan itu justru membuatku tetap enjoy wkwkwkwk

I genuinely cannot remember the last time an anime made me feel this much second-hand embarrassment. Watching this felt physically painful from the sheer amount of cringe. I didn't even know a show could irritate me this consistently, but somehow this managed it. Easily THE WORST anime I've watched in the last seven years, and it's not even remotely close. The premise is painfully mediocre. The art style is ugly. The plot is miserable. The jokes land with the force of a dead fish. The pacing is awful. The characters are unbearable. The direction is lifeless. Every single element feels like it was specifically engineered to make the experience worse. There wasn't even a point where I thought, "maybe it'll get better." It just kept finding new ways to annoy me. I don't casually dislike this show. I passionately despise it. Every episode felt like evidence that I should've dropped it five minutes earlier. Please keep this thing as far away from television, streaming services, recommendation algorithms, and my eyesight as humanly possible. I never want to accidentally encounter it again. Absolutely dreadful. 2/10. I want my time back.

Watched all 12 episodes in like a week and honestly didnt expect to love it this much. I clicked because of the dumb long title and some preview clips but Akari had me hooked from episode 1. That classic tsundere energy blushing while pretending she doesnt care? Killed me every time. Theres this one bit where shes all tough but does something super sweet for Eiyuu. I was just sitting there grinning like an idiot. The start was kinda slow not gonna lie. First 3 episodes I was thinking okay this might be a 7 at best. Glad I stuck with it though. It takes time building up the girls and their dynamics instead of rushing the drama and by the end it all clicks. Episodes 11 and 12 had me laughing out loud and smiling like crazy. Akari is my number 1 but the others werent just background noise. Harus tomboy chaos was hilarious Runas teasing kept things fun and Shio brought these really cute wholesome vibes. The misunderstandings and awkward rom com moments never got old they felt fresh every episode. I stopped caring who won and just enjoyed the ride. Arts bright and expressive faces sell the comedy perfectly and the voice acting is spot on. Fan service is there but it fits the vibe. Nothing groundbreaking but it works. The ending left me satisfied but wanting more manga is good too. After a crappy day popping on an episode just made me happy. Thats why its a straight 10 out of 10 for me. If you like fun childhood friend rom coms just watch it.

Osananajimi to wa Love Comedy ni Naranai might just be one of the single worst school harem anime out there. Naturally, none of us who planned on watching this went into it expecting a good show, since these types of shows generally aren't. This goes beyond that. It fails not only at being a funny, brain-dead harem show, but also at being an anime in general. The main premise of the show centers around Eiyu, who, together with his childhood friends, falls into the most cliché, tropey rom-com situations imaginable. And every single time something is about to happen, the most cliché, tropey thing happens to disrupt it because, "You Can't Be in a Rom-Com With Your Childhood Friends!" That is essentially the entire plot of the show. It just repeats tropes that stall indefinitely and get boring after episode three. The little comedic value that would be there is nullified by the frustration of the show not progressing. Sure, as the show went on and new characters were introduced, it got a bit of a lift, but they were underutilized, and in the end, they did not impact the show at all. The ending was some kind of bs moral epiphany that came from nowhere and wasn't impactful in the slightest. All in all, horrible writing. The characters themselves are, as you'd expect, the standard anime archetypes. We have the personality-less main character, Eiyu, tsundere Akari (best girl), deredere Shio, loli imouto Ruka, and tomboy Haru. None of the characters' actions ever prove that they are deeper than a cardboard-cutout archetype, and that's fine. To be honest, not many of these kinds of shows have well-rounded characters. What really makes this so bad is that no matter what happens plot-wise, no relationship dynamics seem to change in any way, shape, or form. And when the writers actually try to have a meaningful interaction between characters, it almost always comes across as unrealistic (not even in a comedic way). There's not much more to say about the characters, since they have no depth or development. In terms of a side cast, there is none. The art and animation are genuinely awful, too. First impressions were actually good; a nice, unique, vibrant atmosphere created by the art. That kept up for maybe fifteen minutes before the anime became 95% still shots and reused frames. It genuinely got so bad that it was, at times, hard to watch. Furthermore, this show does not cheap out on fan service or panty shots. It felt like it tried to use them as a cheap cop-out to make up for literally everything else in this anime. To be honest, it was so blatantly the case that it made the show much worse in my eyes. I will give it props for okay character designs for the main girls, although they are lacking in expressiveness and facial expressions. The voice acting is this anime's strongest point, but it is still, at best, standard. Sure, in comparison to the rest of the show, it is great, but in reality, it's nothing special. In terms of the OST and sound design, I swear to God I've heard these tracks before. They're either straight from a copyright-free database or just so basic that they sound like copies of that kind of music. Other than that, the OST and sound design had no impact on the viewing experience whatsoever. When it comes to personal enjoyment, there was none. After episode three, this got so painful to watch that the only thing that kept me watching was my stupid principle of not dropping shows. In any case, every episode felt like it was hours long, and I found it really hard to keep watching. In all honesty, the best thing about this show was that it ended in just 12 episodes. In conclusion, don't watch this garbage. That is all.

If being different were all it took to be great, then this would be peak. You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! is a fun little series that goes out of its way to be unique not in its premise but rather in the dynamics and characters' reactions to generic romcom triggers. The setup between 4 girls and 1 boy is reminiscent of Nisekoi, down to their personalities. Unfortunately however, it does not have the same charm as it. The main issue this series runs into is the cheap execution as a result of chasing originality. There are several instances where the characters are having a moment only to be ruined by a sloppy excuse of a payout in order to tug at the viewers' heartstrings. Much of the charm for a romcom lies in the slow and arduous buildup as they come to realize the situation they're in. The formula for romantic comedies has more or less been solved, so while I can acknowledge the author for their attempt, they should've stuck with the cookie cutter. It's not without its good points, though, because the series is more than watchable and (dare I say) enjoyable if you're willing to overlook the flaws. The opening is bubbly and whimsical, the designs perfectly fit the personalities, and the 1-on-1's the characters have are surprisingly nice. I did take a look at the manga up until the anime's current point and I think the manga does a better job for the most part because the animation can be a bit off at times. Although I'm not waiting patiently for a new season, I'd probably watch it if they did release one; a sign of palatable slop.

You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! Yes, that's the crux of the matter, that's it exactly. This whole season, everything that's happening, revolves around that central idea. So, if you've tuned in expecting a deeply serious exploration of dramatic and romantic themes, well, you are unfortunately in the wrong place. After watching the first ep, I knew I wouldn't drop this anime or hold it (I do it often, drops after 4-5 episodes then binge watch it) I looked forward to each episode weekly, and it consistently made me happy. I really liked this anime, if you are in comedy/romance then it's worth it. Today after watching the finale, I even correctly predicted some scenes, which made me laugh. I doubt there will be a second season, and I won't read the manga, but if a second season happens I will be back. I usually skip OPs, but this one is catchy with great visuals and vocals from all the VAs.

It’s so classic—but that’s exactly what makes it fun—and it really stands out among this season’s other romantic comedies. I’d give this anime a 9, and it truly deserves it—but that’s only because I watched the entire series from episodes 1 to 12 in one go. If I’d followed it weekly as it aired, I don’t think the excitement would’ve felt quite the same. And yeah, the ending really leaves everything open-ended—after all, what romantic comedy harem anime ever ends in its first season? Sadly, this probably won’t get a second season. The ratings on MAL aren’t exactly stellar, and I really enjoyed it once all the episodes were released, so yeah, with the ongoing series, it’s a bit harder to fully appreciate the comedy. Honestly, it’s good even though there’s still no answer about who she likes, and I haven’t read the manga or the original source material for this anime—I’ve only watched the anime itself

I gave it a 9 because I had too much fun with it. I watched this as a Rom-Com with stress on the comedy and the occasional ecchi element. To get it out of the way, I think what I liked about the show is that they managed to walk the fine line between just "putting some cute school girls on display" and the overall comedic vibe, most of the time the ecchi scenes even made sense to be in there. Speaking of the vibe, it's really funny and I laughed a lot. The characters are not the most innovative ones but exactly that is why it worked for me, especially when they had some twists to what you'd expect from them. Also the look of the show, colours and character design (the faces Akari can make :) ) were great. And even if it's "just a rom-com" the wholesome vibes of the friendships between the characters, the slow build-up with their backstories and their thoughts about each other were told very well in my view. So I'd recommend this to anyone who's not put off by the ecchi tag of it.

"If I had the talent of an artist I would draw Eiyu getting NTR'd and losing all four girls because that is what a dense moron like him deserves." Generic slice of life nonsense with a moronic block headed male MC. The only saving grace for me was Haru who is the best girl in this series and the only one to call him out on his indecisive nonsense. After finishing this series, i decided going forward any future series I watch if the Male MC is like Eiyu i'm immediately dropping it. The ending for this anime really sucked and right now just thinking about it is really pissing me off.

This show really did have the potential to be a decent romantic comedy. However, the main issue with this anime is that nothing happens. The main character doesn't believe his childhood can be in love with him, even though the signs are quite apparent. While the childhood friends are too scared to confess their feelings. The characters try to develop the story, but the writer is so fixated on halting character development that by the end of the arc, they revert to their original states. It makes the story go nowhere; the author drags it on for way too long, and you get frustrated that you wasted your time. The characters are whatever, they're just your cookie-cutter tropes that you've probably seen in other anime. If you like the trope, then you'll like the character. They're all pretty shallow and aren't complex, and instead of developing these characters, the author decides to add more. Making the story feel bloated; too many romantic interests, and it doesn't develop any of them. Overall, I can't recommend this anime; it's way too flawed, the story direction is awful, and the characters are uninteresting. There are many other anime that are worth your time and attention.
