I felt slight pain when the last episode Ending name frame came. It was a nice anime. A chill slice of anime, the comedy was fine too. it's a very refreshing story. Overall i didn't felt bored or repetitive. It's actually a fine healing/slice-of-life anime. This anime not only just food eating, there's good stories, characters interaction were natural too. Overall it's a chill slice of life anime. The plot is fine. I think you should give it a try if your bored or just wants to cool your Head. I hope it gets a season 2. it's nice story, it deserves one.I will go read the manga later, Inshallah.

This was one nice slice of life anime. Perfect for those who want to enjoy something nice and calm. Without any drama, plot twists, nudity or the rest of the known tropes. It is this anime biggest strenght and it's greatest weakness. Animation and music: industry standard. Animation was generic but nice, it was not low quality and it was pretty stable and clean throughout the series. Music was average, nothing bad or good. Overall - animation and music are doing their job. Nothing more and nothing less. Characters: surprisingly a fair amount for such a simple story. But they are not developed at all, they simple exists so that X event can happen. Suzume is our FMC. She is a maid from UK and the cutest thing you can meet. She is young, innocent and a bit simple. But she has big heart and can make everyone's day brighter. Beside her we have her grandmother and grandfather who exists to better convey japanese culture and customs to her. Ricotta, her best friend and possible love interest who traveled to Japan simply becasue she was missing her and was concerned. Nana, who is her first neighbor and has a hard adult life but she is still nice person. Sora, who is middle or highscooler and has a crush on Suzume. And in the end Anzu and Satou who are also her neighbours. One is cheerful young women and the other looks like yakuza but is actually very nice person. You can see that the roster of characters is quite big, but unfortunately none of them get some major development or offers some plot twist. They all fill different roles and serve to progress the story in certain direction. Out of all of those I mostly enjoyed Suzume with her grandparents (they were very wholesome family moments) and Suzume with Rosetta as they had very strong yuri vibes (yeah, if the story continued there was no way that these two were going to stay just friends). Overall - characters are many and varied but static. They fulfil their roles in the story but nothing beyond that. Story: probably the weakest part as the entire premise (and point of the story) is that Suzume is stuck in Japan for a year and decided to try all of Japan's famous dishes. If you love food, cooking and things like that you will enjoy it. Every episode has several different mini scenes and each of them has different dish. And in all of them they go into little details like history of the dish/how to prepare it and some interesting facts about it. But other than that nothing else happens. Suzume lives alone and meets few people along the way. She visits her family and hangs out with her friend and that's about it. Nothing major happens but in the end - that is the entire point of the show. Overall - story is very basic and nothing extremely happens. It is a nice wholesome story from start to finish. Overall grade: 8 from me. Realistically this anime sits somewhere around 7. It is a nice SoL show about food and as such it is great. But knowing modern audience today I would not be surprised if most people find it somewhat boring. To me facts about food, Suzume's daily cute adventures and entire yuri vibes with Rosetta were more than enough to entertain me. I would recommend to people to check out. if you like SoL genre and food than this is anime for you.

The Food Diary of Miss Maid is a pretty standard slice of life/cute girl anime, but even while being relatively generic and pointless in the grand scheme of things, I found it very enjoyable. Art Style/Character Designs - 8.5 Animation - 7 Themes/Food Stuff - 8 Characters - 7 Story - 7 Music - 8 Adorableness - 10 Enjoyment - 8 As I already mentioned, there really is no "point" to this anime, we simply watch Suzume as she goes around trying all kinds of different Japanese food. We meet several side characters throughout the episodes who tend to contribute to Suzume trying new food in some way. All the characters in this show were generally good, I didn't dislike any of them, but there's not too much depth to them which is to be expected. If you are watching this looking for some deep story or complex characters you're completely lost lmao. One thing I did really like was the visuals for this anime. While pretty simple it was super colorful and just beautiful to look at. The animation was fine too, I mean it's not like there's action scenes or anything so no need for amazing animation, but it definitely got the job done. As for the food side of things, I found it really interesting to see the different kinds of foods, what they are, and the proper ways to eat them. As someone who lives in Canada and have never traveled to Japan it was surprisingly informative, even if it was a relatively small amount of information. Also it's worth mentioning that the series never really felt repetitive despite being as simple as it was. I'd definitely recommend giving this a watch if you tend to like simple slice of life series, and/or if you tend to like anime that are just about cute girls doing literally anything lol. Overall, I'd give The Food Diary of Miss Maid a 7.5/10

if you love anime food, you’re definitely going to enjoy this one. It's incredibly cute and moe—perfect for just chilling out and learning a bit about Japanese cuisine. However, I did feel like the 23-minute format was a stretch. A shorter format would have suited this anime much better. I'm honestly not sure if 13-minute anime are still a thing, but it definitely would have worked perfectly here. Also, there were a few unnecessary characters who didn't really contribute anything to the story, I’m obviously not talking about Ricotta-san, just that one tanned guy who I even forgot his name.

a cute mix of a GDCT and Gourmet anime the series follow a maid (Suzume) that in Japan when the mansion she work at collapses and she going to spend the year while repair in Japan near her grandma house. each episode is broken up into four segment each usually covering a different food or something an activate common in japan the most drama in the show is getting lost or getting overheated on a summer day Suzume a kind, dedicated and scatterbrained woman similar to Yua, Serufu from do it Yourself or Aletta from Restaurant to another world the anime in EMT square rich colorful art style and it at time subpar animation the voice acting is good (no English dub as of time of review) Bottom line if you looking for a CDGT like Do it Yourself, food for the soul or a more grounded Restaurant to another work give this a shot

First series in the season I have finished watching, and let me tell you, it's great! This is the definition of fully enjoying your life. It's simple and keeps your day at bay. You watch one episode and another to smile, to remind you that life is wonderful without thinking about anything other than food. How did I find this? I was browsing through MAL seasonal releases and saw this. I instantly click "planned to watch". Who wouldn't love watching a show about a maid enjoying her daily life in an unfamiliar location by finding food? 😂 Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?) I never talk about it in any review, but I am genuinely in love with how great the maid outfit looks in anime (especially Lupusregina from Overlord). It's one of those fantasies that I really wish I could see in real life. I'm an Indonesian, specifically from Java. There's no f*cking way people dress like that unless they did it for cosplay. It's way too hot to use a maid outfit. Platform It's only on Crunchyroll. Sadge. The review; Plot/Story You know by every episode. They literally put a minute-long explanation every episode of what the show is all about. Suzume, a maid, serves a lord from England stranded in Japan because the mansion she was in is being torn down somehow. Her lord said she had been given a holiday until the mansion was repaired. To spend those days, she would go around her complex of living to find new things while also testing new food on her way. The story is not just her though. It involves her friend from England, who worried that Suzume wouldn't survive alone, three of her neighbours, and 2 stranger that she met along her journey. I have a complaint, though. Well, more like a nitpick. The show said one year, and Suzume, in the show at least, has already suppressed one year in Japan. The finale finished with an open ending? That's strange, I wonder why? P.S (after researching a bit) turns out even the manga is still publishing. They got me curious to read it. Character Fantastic roster of characters. It's very calming and charming. OST/SFX Two thumbs up! Especially the OST in the anime. I don't know why, but there is one particular soundtrack that can't leave my brain. I swear it's not that funny, but it's funnier in my head. Animation Decent. I expected no less from the studio that did "I'm Quitting Heroing". I like the style they use for the anime. VA Two thumbs up! Bonus 1. CHYUN! Unlike Otaku Elf, I actually invested in this culture! I love how they explain the origin of the food and how to make it, or how it originated. The type that Suzume ate, and/or how many variations of the food. It's so fascinating to learn about those. Thank you, Chyun! I appreciate your explanation! 2. Small bites episode There have been a lot of anime did this. I couldn't tell how many. Basically, they squished more than one title for one episode. I think it was a fantastic way to make this show watchable. I could pause in the first quarter and continue watching when I have time, and I still wouldn't forget what the previous subtitle was all about. (It's great for those Gen Z people who love TikTok and have their head storage spun down.) The conclusion; Enjoyable Couldn't you tell? I'm obviously happy watching this. I'm in love with the anime. I would love to have more anime like this, please! Worthable I don't know how to tell you. I genuinely think people would say it was boring. I'm saying this because there is nothing unique to offer. It's just a maid traveling and having a culinary experience in Japan. Delivery Decent! OG Sauce I would like to see if the story is still going past the one-year mark. If they did, what's their excuse for it? Overall 9/10 Perfect for your lonely life. (Sorry for calling you out) I definitely recommend it.

This show was in my PTW, mainly because I wanted to experience how travelling to Japan for a year is like. Normally I watch a slice-of-life show in order to make me feel relaxed, as it's my favourite genre. Unfortunately this show is not one of them. I *enjoyed* it for what it's worth, but yeah. === Positives === + The opening theme is so calming, as is the ending theme. It's so cute and never forgets to put a smile on your face. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I love how Suzume hums when she cleans the dishes. + In some occasions, Chun the bird will make some appearances and give you some insights on how food is originated, how it's made, etc. They're very helpful, and you can learn a thing or two about them. === Negatives === - Almost nothing happens in this show. It's just about a maid from the UK travelling to Japan, eating food and meeting her friends and family. And it goes on and on for twelve episodes, meaning that this show doesn't offer anything unique, nor does it have a unique story. - The side characters don't have much to offer - there *are* a lot of them after all, but they don't get enough character development and they're flat, nor are they interesting, except for Suzume and the bird. Here you have a girl in a yukata, a high school boy and two of the FMC's neighbours. - The finale episode didn't do much for me either. It's just like the same episodes that you previously watched in this show. === Overall/Do I Recommend? === Maid-san wa Taberu dake doesn't have much to offer other than the food explanations, and Suzume travelling to Japan for a year to see what their food is like (and trying them, too). There's barely anything to latch out to and it sometimes makes for an OK but boring watch. I will only recommend if you're OK with the premise of this show and you love maids and other types of food. I enjoyed it myself but it might be boring for others, so I have to label it as 'Mixed Feelings'. I give it a 5/10. Thank you for reading!

Tldr: Cute girl eating delicious food (and connecting with people) Art, Animation & Sound Nothing extraordinary, but well done. There are many cute expressions of our lovely maid^^ Story The story is not the strong point. It is only "for some reason our maid stays in Japan and doesn't work for a year, so she spends her time trying all kinds of delicious food". We watch glimpses of her daily life, where she mostly connects with people through food. Each episode is divided into about three parts, each showing a different situation from her daily life centered around a specific dish. Usually you learn something new about the history or the way of preparing it. Characters The characters aren’t complex and don’t develop much. FMC (maid) is cute, innocent, maybe naive, her best friend is kind of tsundere (yuri undertones), her neighbours and a little girl she sometimes meets, grandparents who help her connect with Japanese culture and a school student that has a crush on her. Overall: A wholesome, simple anime - great to watch while eating or just chilling
