This was a theatrical release for the final 5 episodes of season 1 and later streamed as normal episodes. It starts off right where episode 12 ended, same production, same quality. So don't trust the inflated rating; anyone who didn't like the initial 12 episodes is not gonna bother watching the final 5, so this ends up acting as a filter to people who initially liked the show. Read reviews, positive, mixed and negative. And don't waste your time, please. I have already written a detailed review on the main show depicting my full thoughts so I'll just go over my overall opinion. Visuals and music are fine, yadda yadda you get the point. The biggest problem with this show is the writing and the characters: It advertises itself as a yuri romcom but fails at delivering a well-written romance or comedy. The story follows the protagonist (Renako) from start to finish on her journey to learn how to love herself while her classroom friends all fall in love with Renako, so we end up with the protagonist constantly jumping from relationship to relationship without any of them being fully fleshed out. Along this, most characters don't act realistic to any degree, they all have their own quirk and the viewer is expected to take them seriously despite how stupid these are, which leads to an incredible contrast during emotional scenes that fail. Furthermore, every emotional scene is backed by some puddle-deep backstory or reason behind it, none of these landed for me and they all felt like a drag. Additionally, there was barely character development to be seen, and the one who matters the most, Renako, acts the same as when the show just started. This show also has a noticeable lack of body-language through most of its runtime, instead relying to the overuse of internal monologues to either express a characters emotions or quip a cheap joke. Everything is served as-is and directly to your face, the story, characters and plot are afraid of going deep and end abruptly for the sake of keeping the story going. The biggest offender was the absurdity of the ending: Without spoiling much, the whole story just goes on a full circle, Renako cares too much about how everyone around her feels, up until the ending where she finally makes a choice based on her own, but it was the stupidest decision that I would've preferred her to never get into a relationship ever again and live lonely for the rest of her life. Moreover, everyone else just doesn't seem to reason properly anything in their heads and end up accepting and cheering her on. All of this taking place on top of a stage with microphones set up and hundreds of people watching, but that is never acknowledged because it's not like the protagonist is a shy introvert, right? I didn't want to repeat myself so if you want a slightly more in-depth review about this show, check out the one I had written for the rest of season 1.

What a start to new year, after big success in theatres all across Japan the 5 episodes that cover entire LN 4 arc are here and they are as good as LN readers are hyping them to be - for some it might even be better than original anime series. Truly a great time for yuri enjoyers. And yes... This movie has very intense yuri scenes between Kaho and Renako, and those were played in theatres in Japan. And movie was in such demand that they had to expand watch for a few more weeks and in many other theaters. I think this should tell you what to expect. Animation and music: it is continuing from anime and the quality is still there. No low quality textures or choopy frames, the quality stayed the same like with the original series. Same thing with music, they even kept the amazing OP which is a nice touch. Overall: animation and music were as good as they were in the original series, great job there. Characters: Continuing from original series this time we focus mostly on Kaho, which was there but always in the background. She is highly energetic and kind of a dum-dum. But always supportive and in high spirits. Never is a dull moment with her. And here we get to learn about her secret side, and it was a refreshing take on the series. She also get's really good development here thanks to Renako, it was enjoyable to watch her growth. Meanwhile, Renako herself also get a huge development and is able to resolve the issue from the last episode with both Mai and Ajisai. Ajisai is still an angel, but more selfish this time around and I like her even more for that if that's possible after such an amazing arc in original anime last 4 episodes. Mai is also 180 form what she was at the start of the series, and seeing her developed as well from egoistic and prideful self was great experience. Satsuki is the only one that didn;t change, still as cold tsundere as she was in original series. Overall: character development in this movie/5 episodes was amazing. It carries this series hard and it was great enjoyment form start to finish. Fans of certain characters will be overjoyed for sure. Story: the story centers around Kaho this time, exploring her as a person as well as her past as she 'recruits' Renako to assist her in her private hobby. The other side of the story is about Renako facing her inner doubt and thinking hard on how to decide on the fact that she is going out with Mai and she also said that she would date Ajisai after her confession. Those who didn't watch original series will be kind of lost in all of this, but those who did watch will find this part of the story very enjoyable. I would rate it in quality on pair with Ajisai arc, which was by far the best one in original anime series. Overall: the story carries from anime and it is really good. Exploring new character and resolving remaining issues with Renako's love life. For fans of the series this will be great enjoyment. Overall grade: 9 and well deserved. 10 from me, as a fan of the series I am really amazed at how they did it. It's an example on how to do a good sequel. And in the end, it's reception in Japan's movie theaters speak much better than any review you might read here or on other sites. Although, I had to say that some might find it unpleasant giving how one major issue was resolved. But other than that it is great enjoyment. I would highly recommend this to anyone. With the advise to check original series first (even if some parts are not good) so that you won't get lost. With this series high BD and LN sales and the success of anime series and this movie the stage is set for season 2. They have enough materials for one and some of the parts in it are extremely good. High hopes for one in 1 or 2 years and will watch it for sure.

Watching the continuation of Watanare this New Year felt like the perfect way to start 2026. The ending works as a genuinely squeamish closing for the series. Pros: Strong character arcs , specially Renako’s redemption. The humor lands well , and Renako in a maid outfit (and that half naked scene) seriously made me question my sexuality.. I was merely like asdjkhaskjdhsakj.. The animation quality is still great as always and the opening song are great never get tired of it. Cons: It’s only a continuation, not a full fresh season. Overall: It's good if you enjoy the prequel you definitely enjoy this too.. one of the high quality Yuri anime ever released so far in 2025.

So this really is season 1 episode 13 to 17 so if you liked the "prequel" it starts right where it left off. It totally has the same vibe and looks. Our main heroine, Renako still tries to have the best school life ever with the quintet. More plot info would probably be spoiler territory. I gave the prequel and this a full 10/10 as in my opinion it's just a great watch if you like characters trying to find their emotional footing and this pulled off with beautiful characters, consistently great scenery and colours, accompanied by fitting music. The tone is always right, sometimes funny, sometimes deep conversation, but never dragged out too long. Muri muri!

3 a.m. on January 18, 2026, and I just watched one of the greatest masterpieces I’ve ever seen. First of all, I already thought the guy who decided to make a yuri harem anime was a GENIUS — but then he goes and gives me that ending. I was completely shocked, I literally got out of bed with my mouth wide open, not believing that it actually happened. I genuinely felt like a little girl, completely happy that the characters ended up together in the end. And it's good to have a sequel after that little ending they put in. HOLY SHIT, THIS HAS BECOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE ANIME, FUCK IT. pThe first yuri anime I watched and I simply loved it.

I'm reviewing both Season 1 and its sequel since it's the same item technically, not a Season 2 : what makes it different from the average het harem is because it's yuri , and that changes everything because the intentions aren't the same , because yuri isn't for someone or a group of people , it's its own objective system And yuri fans should always remember that, if you take yuri for granted , like it's some sort of fantasy for you then you're not a yuri fan. Yuri is about the women and their relationship, you do not "own" that. From that you can tell that the objectives of het harems are different, because it doesn't funnel to one mc-kun , it's all together, and all have their own thing and personality going on, + good animation + good direction + good music (especially that OST on the last episode of the sequel) the team working on this did an amazing job and didn't just copy-paste the manga , they elevated the work , I honestly think this my be my top 3 yuri anime of all time no joke , I think it is I greatly recommend for anyone who wants a chock-full of yuri, and it's beginner-friendly 10/10

I didn't expect "It's Anime powered by REMOW" channel on YouTube to drop a bombshell (The good one) on day one of the new year. I know that this anime was originally intended to be a movie-length anime, but it was broken down into several episodes. But man, I didn't expect Remow to upload the whole thing to their channel on day 1. I thought they would upload one episode per week. Not complaining, though. Anyway... Platform "It's Anime powered by REMOW" channel on YouTube At least that's where I was watching it. I remember yesterday when I wrote this review, it got deleted because there was a warning that said, "The third episode should be available first before you can review", or something along those lines. So I'm guessing it's only Remow that uploads the whole thing while other platforms upload it one episode per week. Other than that, this anime is also available on Anime Generation (Italy), Aniplus TV (South Korea), Aniverse (Germany & Austria), and Bilibili Global. The review; Plot/Story I mentioned in the first season that I liked the story because of how goofy the plotline was. They kept it! It's so unserious that I just love watching this series because of that. I also said that I was kind of disappointed because Kaho didn't have any spotlight in season one. Well, they had it here. Actually, this whole "season" was a dedicated arc with her. She didn't have any plot in the first season just to get this treatment. Well played, author. I love that. We also got an actual conclusion to Renako, Mai, and Ajisai's love story. That's awesome. Can't wait to see where they're going with it because (not really a spoiler) they tease something at the end that felt like a new season coming. Character Because this "season" is a dedicated arc for Kaho, I think I will focus on her character as a whole. I love it, though, I may add that I feel like she should have more development in the next story because, let's be honest here, it felt like her character was still lacking fundamentals. OST/SFX, Animation, & VA I bundled these three segments because they kept it consistent. The quality is still divine. In fact, I think, anyway, they are getting better than the first season. NGL. Happy that this series is getting a good adaptation by studio MOTHER. They have their staple anime now. The conclusion; The good Great watch, especially because Kaho is the star of the show. The bad There is no announcement of a continuation. Sadge. Gratitude Thanks for uploading these anime episodes all at once in a bundle, Remow. Even though I rarely watch anime on your channel, you guys have done a great job. Overall 8/10 Going to up the score because of Kaho. 😤

The first 12 episodes of the anime were good, but not outstanding by any means. Seeing this special definitely made me like the series far more than I already had. It felt as if Kaho was more or less left behind in the first 12 episodes, so it was nice to see the increased focus on her character in these. Besides her, all the other primary characters were farther developed, really helping them stand out from the standard archetypes they largely followed beforehand (though in fairness they had already been developed at least slightly beyond those). By the end, the characters felt considerably more like real people than flat, uninspired caricatures as the first episodes may have made them appear. The animation was clearly somewhat limited, but the general style and colors were very visually appealing, so it certainly never felt stale or uninteresting to watch. Polyamory yuri... it's peak...

Short disclaimer: I rated the original show with "mixed feelings" (with a rating of 7), because I felt that it had some issues that held it back and I wasn't quite sure where the show wanted to go. Sure, some of the issues can't be erased by these 5 new episodes (the way Mai's character arc was handled in it being mostly off-screen for example), but the show went a direction that I can confidently "recommend" this finale to the first season to both people who already enjoyed the first part, but also those, who like me, were maybe not 100% sure where the show would be going. And these 5 episodes also changed my general outlook to a more positive one for the series as a whole that I think I would recommend it overall. Though I will mostly focus on the content of the 5 episodes in this review with some smaller comparisons to the original 12 episodes. Since there were only 5 episodes, there also isn't much to say here. These 5 episodes deal with the aftermath of the cliffhanger from episode 12, but more importantly, gives us the introduction arc for the final character of the group: Kaho. Let's start with the aftermath for the cliffhanger. I actually was a bit disappointed in how this was handled at first, because it felt like the show was actually going into a direction that would push it more towards "not recommended", since it appeared to do things like most other romance shows out there: Find a reason to keep the status quo for as long as possible. And while this might have been a reason (since the last character didn't have her introduction arc yet), I will say that the series did solve that problem throughout the 5 episodes in a way that I think was worth this initial step back. But this only worked, because the show managed to weave the Kaho arc into the main story as well. With Kaho, I wasn't too sure how it would go. I feared another Satsuki situation, where the arc would mostly focus about her and her struggles while leaving the main plot hanging in the background in the meantime. But fortunately, the series managed to avoid this issue this time, because Kaho's character struggles are also connected to Renako and her own arc. This is why the initial step back worked, because the Kaho arc also gave Renako the needed character development to actually come to her decision in the end. An ending that did make me interested in seeing how the author would be able to develop it. And I really hope they will not only develop on that ending, but actually write about the consequences of that decision. All the good, but also all the messy parts. But I guess for that, I have to check out the LN. At least for now. As for Kaho herself, I can't really say much about her personal arc. It's more similar to Satsuki's, in where it's about an issue she has and where Renako helps her overcome that issue, compared to the Mai and Ajisai arcs where the main plots were the romantic feelings towards Renako. Sure, you can say that there is some romantic development in the Kaho arc as well, similar to Satsuki, but it didn't feel like this was the main focus. I mean, Renako didn't even touch Kaho's boobs which is a first for the series. Is that a spoiler? But seriously, other than that, these 5 episodes are what you would expect from this show. The pacing is still a bit fast, some scenes could really benefit from the story having the time to slow down, there are even two time jumps of several weeks, but overall, it doesn't detract too much from the experience. The only downgrade to the original 12 episodes is the fact that the show is a lot less creative when it comes to Renako's thoughts. The series was never big on animation. Not that it was badly animated, it was well animated in comparison to other romance shows and the same goes for these 5 episodes. But what made the original 12 episodes stand out a bit was the fact that they often didn't just have Renako monologuing with her inner thoughts, but they would funnily present them with her imaginations (like a little Mai talking to her, Ajisai doing stuff, things like that). However, these 5 episodes didn't really have that. There was one instance, but sadly, nothing more. And since Renako is still monologuing a lot, these monologues felt a bit more boring compared to the original 12 episodes which managed to avoid this issue so well. But that is the only issue I could really find. Because all in all, I do think that these 5 episodes weren't just good on their own, they also added an important missing piece to the series that leaves me with a much better feeling towards it. As mentioned, some issues are still present, but if you were waiting to see if it was worth it to check out the series, I think I can confidently say that this is a yes. The series can be a bit weird here and there, but that kind of adds to the charm and if you don't mind it, then you will be rewarded in the end.

This sequel shifts its focus to one of the characters who didn't receive much attention in the previous series. Compared to before, it places more emphasis on friendship and the bonds between the characters. However, since it continues the story from the original series, the main character still has one important goal: deciding how to respond to the confessions of two different people. The ending left me with a whirlwind of emotions. From the main character's perspective, it was exciting to watch them finally have the chance to build a deeper romantic relationship with both love interests. The happy ending was especially satisfying, as it gave me a sense of relief knowing that the main character was finally able to move forward into a more serious romantic relationship.

I'm relatively new to Yuri genre, but I really like everything so far, it is a wild ride. Watanare being one of the best so far. It may not be the most meaningful or deep among other ones ( I've not yet seen alot of those more dramatic or serious ones ), but it will certainly cure your depression and will make you puke out pure rainbow. It is generally lighthearted and easy to watch series. It is colorful , has nice characters and positive vibes all over the place. Fair amount of Yuri fanservice is utilized rather well. Fair amount of drama and main character's journey to "find herself" utilized well enough. The OSTs and sound design are good, half the time I even didn't skip opening ( its kinda catchy I guess, lol ). This special of 5 episodes gives us well rounded conclusion ( "one season curse" defeated, thank gods ), more character development for Kaho ( shes awesome! ), and a hint for season 2 ( well yep, the finale was abit sugar coated, so expect more interesting developments in S2, maybe even harem expansion lol). I might be wrong but these 5 episodes seems to be ahead of manga ( at least one that is translated on english ), not sure about LN. But anyway - if you love "cute yuri girls doing yuri things", definetely check out whole series.

This really didn’t need to be its own thing. If it focused on Renako’s decision between Sena and Mai, it would make sense, but it mostly focuses on Kaho, who didn’t get a spotlight in the original cour. It’s so obviously supposed to complete that cour, so why these episodes got turned into a movie/standalone special is beyond me. Still, it’s Watanare. It’s wacky, it’s heartfelt, it’s colorful, it’s cuddly. Kaho’s character arc is very well-rounded, and she has lots of cute yuri scenes with Renako. It’s hard to call her best girl when the competition is so stiff, but she deserves triple-digit faves with the rest of the Queentet. Get on that, MAL. I do think it would have been nice if Sena and Mai got a bit more screen time for this finale “special,” but if you look at it as the end of the season it was supposed to be, it’s fine. The ending was a bit corny, but very satisfying nonetheless. I wonder if making this into a proper special would have made things too serious, denied us the same sugary blend of entertainment that originally made the anime so fun to watch. In any case, if you liked Watanare, this is more Watanare, and I couldn’t ask for anything more.

There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless... is back with a TV special. You're basically taking it as a five episode sequel. Considering how rare it is for Yuri anime to get sequels, this came as a very pleasant surprise. Story & Characters: There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless... continues Renako's exciting school life after being confessed to by Ajisai. Now, Renako needs to try and figure out what life in a relationship feels like. But before that, there is, of course, one character that got slightly neglected in season 1. That's Kaho, and between her and Renako's resolution, that's the entire TV special. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much of Kaho. This is probably a bit unfair, but she's fantastic. She has a bit of a weird past that eventually connects back to Renako, which makes it the perfect link for their friendship to evolve. They mostly focus around Kaho's favourite hobby, and I really like what they did with it for both Kaho and Renako. They take their time with her arc, just like they did with our other characters, which I appreciated. Satsuki makes some minor appearances here or there, but she doesn't really have much of a part in the season. Mai and Ajisai are in the back half of the season and while the finale has a lot of mixed reviews, I like what they did with it in the grand scheme of things. They both have very likable qualities to them, though I think I'm in the minority in that I don't have a high opinion on Mai. It was very clearly a good place to stop the series, but my understanding is that they were getting kind of close to the source material. I really really do hope they continue this thing going once the source material eventually hits the end because they do a lot of good things with it. Sure, Renako's not the deepest character, but she's someone you can easily attach yourself to because of her willingness to try and relate to her friend circle. (Story: 8/10, Characters: 9/10) Art: This series still looks unfairly nice for a series that wasn't on any major anime platform. And I'm glad it did. (9/10) Sound: No issues here. Same OST and OP as the previous season and voice talent is all the same. (8/10) Overall: There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless...'s TV special is worth watching if you enjoyed the first season. It honestly doesn't feel like a different season, but simply makes the anime feel like a 17 episode series. Like I said before, I hope they keep going once they're able, but time will tell if they commit to it. (9/10)

This special addresses the final girl of Renako's "Queentet" as well as continuing the romantic drama between her 2 main suitors. As a romantic work, this special is good and meaningfully progresses the relationship between Renako and her potential lovers. The events leading up to is admittedly a series of coincidences but most fun romantic works have the stars align. The animation and soundtrack has not faltered making the show look and sound seemless and polished. Even if one does not like yuri, the energy, introspection of the characters and the romance make the show very fun and easy to enjoy.
RomanRonin
If you liked the first season, this special is a notable improvement on the existing formula. I really liked the first season, but I had some issues with it. This special pretty much resolved all of them. One of my biggest complaints with the first season was how Rena comes across as a self-insert harem protagonist. The entire story was told from her perspective, and for the most part the other characters seemed to only exist in relation to Rena. This special fixed this completely by interweaving multiple plot arcs in a way that dramatically increased the depth of Rena's love interests. It's still not perfect: the other members of the Queentet still seem drawn moreso to Rena than each other, but it's a step in the right direction. Another complaint I had about the first season was the dialogue. It felt incredibly clunky and verbose to the point of having to occasionally pause and rewatch certain scenes (something I NEVER have to do, and that I blame on this being adapted from a LN). This special improved on this a lot by letting moments breathe, which gave certain scenes just the right emotional weight. Maybe this is just partly due to Satuki being less involved, but I felt like even her scenes were better. Overall, the actual production quality felt a touch better too. I can't put my finger on it, but the audio and visuals all felt just a bit more polished than the first season. There are still some nagging issues with the plot, which is to be expected for a harem yuri. Seemingly no one cares about homosexual relations in this show. The five most beautiful girls in the entire school are all clearly in love with each other, but no one seems to mention how unusual this is. I don't mean that as a critique of homosexuality or anything. I just mean that the Queentet seems to exist completely separate from the outside world and I feel like the implications of that, especially with Mai being a world-renowned supermodel, are left unexplored. In any case, this special was a step up from the first season, so if you watched that already and were unsure, definitely give this special a shot.
