Panlong

Panlong aka Coiling Dragon is the 4th piece written by the now famous Chinese author Wo Chi Xihongshi aka I Eat Tomatoes who published the 21 volumes of Panlong in 2008. I'm a big fan of his novels Stellar Transformation, Swallowed Star, The Desolate Era... and Coiling Dragon. They have all been adapted as CGI animations (to my greatest delight). Panlong was adapted as a Manhua (published from 2013 to 2016) and is now here adapted as animated series first season released in 2026. To be honest, I was disappointed by the manhua adaptation because it was so different compared to the images I had in mind while reading the novel. Now I must say I really like this animated first season! There are very few differences compared to the original story and the characters are close to their original counterparts. Maybe Beibei (the shadow mouse) is a bit too cartoonish (think Mushu in Mulan) for my taste but I can live with that. The animation is good, the way magic and fights are displayed makes sense and are visually beautiful to watch. Now I'm looking forward to season 2...

It is really a watch worthy Donghua. It's a classic action fantasy donghua regarding the journey of Baruch family's eldest son Linley. This Donghua is all about the development of Linley from his childhood to a worthy warrior. Maybe it's just the premise for what's coming in the next season. What to expect: 1. Pure Power Fantasy 2. A Refreshing Lead, determines, headstrong and righteously motivated 3. Fun Dynamics among dynasty, church, royal family. evil force etc. Visuals & Pacing: 1. 3D anime, world building and cinematography is good enough. 2. The story has decent pace 3. Good action choreography Give it a try.... It's fun.
