Sinopsis

Graduation work of Moe Iida at Tama Art University. The short film was officially released online as part of the "TamaGra Animation 2012" screening compilation, celebrating the works of the university's Graphic Design department graduates. Director Moe Iida handles the direction, animation style, and illustration design. The project has also inspired standalone physical primitive art and enamel sculpture galleries by the creator in later exhibitions throughout Tokyo and New York.

Latar

Zouki Daigaku was created as the graduate thesis project of artist Moe Iida during her time at Tama Art University. The experimental short film was highly praised for its unique production style and went on to win the Silver Award at the 18th Student CG Contest, as well as an honorable mention at the TSS Short Movie Festival. It was also prominently featured on NHK's "Digista Teens" television broadcast. Iida utilized a traditional multi-plane camera setup to capture the animation. Characters and objects were illustrated on multiple layers of glass to create an organic sense of depth and atmospheric shadows. The distinct, primitive art style was achieved using cutout paper animation ("kirigami"), where hand-cut paper figures were sewn together using physical threads to simulate the pulsing, erratic visual movements of living internal organs.
